We could not have asked for more in our inaugural year of The Growing

more excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we invest in this next

Letter from the President and Board Chairman
12
We believe we've identified a key that unlocks the door to the future. It goes
beyond merely helping kids graduate or get into college. It goes beyond
helping great causes like digging wells in Africa, or stopping drug and sex
trafficking worldwide.
"
The Growing Leaders Foundation exists to equip 1% of the world’s population
to act like Life-Giving Leaders. Our strategy is to work with partners worldwide
in education and faith-based organizations to equip young people to lead
themselves and others. When we accomplish this, we don't just add, we
multiply. We create a world full of young leaders who solve problems and serve
people in every sector of society.
"
Because of the continued generosity of our donors, The Growing Leaders
Foundation was able to equip 16,661 students from 25 different schools and
organizations across the United States in 2014. Internationally, we trained over
400 youth leaders in Egypt to work with teens in all corners of the Middle East.
We're also in the beginning stages of new partnerships for teaching Habitudes
in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Italy and Ethiopia.
"
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to labor in this noble cause.
With a first year as successful as this, we can only dream about what the future
holds. We're excited to be on this journey together and want to celebrate the
impact your support had on the students served by The Growing Leaders
Foundation. Thank you for your dedication to the next generation of leaders.

In the 2013 State of the Industry: Technology in Georgia Report, 91.3% of the executives polled stated
students were not prepared to enter the workforce after graduating from high school. When asked about
career ready skills, executives stated these students did not meet minimum requirements for critical thinking
and problem solving.
"
Committed to preparing tomorrow’s leaders today, Growing Leaders has
created Habitudes: Images That Form Leadership Habits and Attitudes® to
teach 21st century students the tools to develop character, leadership, and
soft skills through the power of images, conversations and experiences.
"
For years, schools have included Habitudes into their comprehensive
plan to improve retention rates and address college and career
readiness among students.
"
During the 2012-2013 school year, more than 15,000 students and 850
teachers from all over the state of Georgia participated in a pilot program
partnered by the Georgia Department of Education and Growing Leaders.
The pilot program called attention to the severe lack of funding in schools
desperate for this curriculum.

To provide all students access to personal growth and development necessary for lifelong success, Growing
Leaders launched The Growing Leaders Foundation in May 2013. Thanks to faithful donor support, The
Growing Leaders Foundation makes Habitudes curriculum available to students in underfunded schools and
organizations throughout the United States and internationally.

What We Do
What
difference are donor dollars making?
Since 2003, Growing Leaders, Inc. has brought Habitudes
to more than 7,000 schools and youth organizations.
Students and teachers report:
“Because of Habitudes, leadership within our after school program improved —
students began to offer academic help to other students. Habitudes helped us
bond as a group, and students definitely felt that adults leading the program
understood their situations.”

First generation students in Nashville, TN are learning Habitudes, thanks to you!

For Fall grant recipient Conexión Américas, 37
students represent 13 countries of origin and speak 10
native languages — but all speak Habitudes fluently.
East Nashville non-profit, Conexión Américas, taught Habitudes to local students through Escalera:
Taking Steps to Success to offer first generation college applicants support in school success, career
exploration, leadership & personal development, technology, and job readiness training until their
graduation from high school in 2015. Originally a program for Latino students,
Escalera at Glencliff High School now includes refugee students from
Somalia, Rwanda, and Egypt enrolled at the school. Staff member,
Laura Delgado, explains how Habitudes filled a need in their students:

“We are informed on the barriers unique to undocumented and first
generation students – the family dynamics and obligations, gender
roles, pressures of being first to graduate, and the difficulties and
confusion of navigating a bicultural bilingual world. Habitudes® gives
us the concrete tools we need to talk with youth about leadership
and character - conversations that have a practical, concrete
application in their lives.”

Outside of Georgia, an additional 2,848 students and
111 teachers from 9 schools and organizations were
resourced with Habitudes curriculum.
Meet Kenny:
What Habitudes image impacted your life most?
“The Starving Baker — it described what I was doing at the
time that I read the lesson. I was very focused on working
hard to get my family out of our current situation, but at the
same time I was harming myself by not sleeping and eating
much. I was so focused on others that I wasn't taking care of
myself”
“I have taught my brother and sister to read and exercise
every day because of what I learned about taking care of
ourselves so we can keep a balance in life.”
How are you better off now than before using
Habitudes?
“I don't get upset when things go wrong, I know how to
handle them.”

In October of 2013, Youth
With a Mission (YWAM)
taught Habitudes to 12

Tanzania apart of a course
Principles of Child and Youth
Ministries. Students came as
far as Camaroon, Sudan and
East Africa to participate in
lessons translated from
English to French and
Swahili. Students present
have dreams of opening
youth orphanages, schools,
soccer clubs and performing
arts programs when they
return home.

Months later, YWAM taught Habitudes to a network of 20
youth pastors in Migori, Kenya. Those pastors continue to
teach throughout their villages using the Habitudes materials
you afforded them.
