Princess Cruise Lines' Golden Princess arrives at Ogden Point tomorrow (May 8) at 8am and will leave just before midnight, marking the first ship call of the season to spend a full day in Victoria. 2015 is shaping up to be the most successful cruise season ever with 229 ship calls expected carrying over 513,000 passengers, eclipsing the previous record of 224 ship calls in 2012, carrying over 503,000 passengers. The 2015 season will see a 4% increase in average time spent in port (average time spend in port will be approximately 7 hours) and a 17% increase in daytime calls, meaning that more passengers will spend more time and more money enjoying our region's shops, restaurants and attractions. Direct passenger and crew spending for 2015 is estimated to exceed the figure of $32 million supporting 880 direct and indirect jobs in the region realized in 2014.
