PROGRAMS + EXHIBITIONS
Many of you joined us on the festive occasion of the member pARTy
to mark the opening of Monet and American Impressionism—
nearly 700 of you! Happily, this extraordinary exhibition remains
on view at the Harn through May 24 before traveling to the Hunter
Museum of American Art in Chattanooga and the Telfair Museum in
Savannah. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy four splendid Monet
landscapes and discover paintings, works on paper and sculpture
by more than 20 American Impressionists. An ideal time to learn
more about Impressionism in France and the USA is the symposium
on March 19-20, described in this InForm. The lavishly illustrated
publication that accompanies the show includes essays by 11
scholars, including 7 UF faculty members, whose observations and
insights about Impressionism are eye opening. Heartfelt thanks
to Dulce Román, curator of the show, all the contributing scholars
and the generous donors who enabled us to bring this major
Impressionist exhibition to our community. It offers a feast for the
eyes, nourishment for the psyche and stimulus to the mind. Enjoy!
