2014 IMPALA
TARGET CUSTOMERS
The Current and the New
With its new features and traditional Chevrolet value,
the 2014 Impala will continue to be a top choice with
existing Impala and Chevrolet owners. However, it
has also been repositioned to be distinctly above
Malibu in terms of size, refinement, performance
and price. That means you can expect the 2014
Impala to attract new Impala prospects as well,
including new-to-Chevrolet shoppers.
Meet the Dynamic Leaders
They’re slightly younger and more affluent
than current Impala owners. And while they may favor
imports, they’re open to a domestic—provided it offers
the features, comfort and driving dynamics to go along
with its value.
What Dynamic Leaders Want
• A car that gets noticed.
• Roomy front-seat interior.
These Dynamic Leaders also:
• Rewarding driving experience.
• View their vehicle as a reward, not just a conveyance.
• Power in reserve for safety.
• Are more focused on features that meet their needs
rather than the needs of their family.
Now notice how those wants align with the full-size
segment reasons for purchase:
• See value as more important than a low price.
1. Exterior styling.
2. Driving confidence and performance.
3. Interior roominess and driver comfort.
4. Value (QRD, cost of ownership, fuel economy).
5. Technology/features that complement their
lifestyle needs.
The all-new Impala has the features that meet all of those
buyer wants and key reasons for purchase. Even better,
these selling advantages can be condensed into four key
messages you can use with customers. Look them over on
the next page.

12% More Efficient Styling
The 2014 Impala has a 12% lower coefficient of drag than the 2013 Impala. In fact, its 0.30 Cd is the same as the midsize
Malibu Eco. This is remarkable for a full-size sedan and directly contributes to the new Impala’s quiet cabin and high fuel
economy. During walkaround presentations, note the styling features that contribute to Impala’s 0.30 Cd:
• Front air dam. • Long sloping roofline, short decklid.
• Wind blockers in front of the tires.
• Wind-tunnel-tuned mirrors, tail lamps, rear decklid.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Power & Performance
With both V6 and 4-cylinder power, the new Impala now offers a range of performance and fuel economy choices.
3.6L DOHC SIDI V6
Because the engine is operating more efficiently all of the
time, fuel economy is improved. At the same time, both lowspeed torque and peak power are maximized.
• Familiar “LFX” V6 introduced in 2012 Impala.
• New chassis and engine mount enhancements increase
durability, quietness and smoothness.
Intake Variable Valve Lift operation is seamless to
the driver.
• 305 hp, 264 lb.-ft. torque.
Newest-Generation 6-Speed HydraMatic Automatic Transmissions
• 0-60: 6.8 secs.
• Estimated 18 city/28 hwy. MPG.
• 6T70 standard in V6 models; 6T40 standard in
2.5L models.
• Availability: Q1 2013 in 2LT, 2LZ.
2.5L ECOTEC DOHC SIDI I4
• Driver Shift Control (DSC) allows you to manually
shift gears.
• Enhanced version of 2.5L standard in Cadillac ATS
and Malibu.
• Automatic Grade Braking keeps the transmission in a
lower gear when decelerating or coasting on a downgrade
to help save brake wear.
• New Intake Valve Lift Contro.l
• New Active Noise Cancellation.
• Unlike Continuously Variable Ratio Transmissions (CVTs)
used on some competitors to improve fuel economy, the
Impala’s transmissions provide full gear changes and
full performance.
• 196 hp, 186 lb.-ft. torque.
• Estimated 21 city/31 highway mpg.
• Availability: Q2 2013 in LS, 1LT, 1LZ.
2.4L ECOTEC DOHC SIDI I4 w/ eAssist
Active Noise Cancellation
• Same fuel-saving powertrain used in Malibu Eco.
On the 2.5L engine, this technology generates sound waves
through the car’s speakers that cancel low-frequency noise
generated at between 1000 and 1500 rpm. Here's how
it works:
• 182 hp, 172 lb.-ft. torque.
• Estimated 25 city/35 highway mpg.
• Availability: Fall 2013.
• Three small microphones measure the amplitude and
phase of the engine noise and relay it to the car’s Active
Noise Cancellation Module.
New Intake Variable Valve Lift
2-mode valve actuation technology that improves fuel
economy, low-speed torque and peak power.
• To ensure that only unwanted engine noise is targeted
(as opposed to the radio or passenger conversation), the
module factors in engine speed and then calculates the
target sound frequency to cancel.
This advanced technology is currently found only in
Impala’s 2.5L engine. It changes valve lift, duration and
timing when opening intake and/or exhaust valves during
engine operation.
• Module generates a sound wave with the same amplitude
as the engine noise, but with an inverted phase.
When more power is needed, such as during acceleration,
passing or high speeds, the high-lift mode brings more air
into the cylinders for more power.
• Sound wave is directed through the car’s front-door
speakers and rear subwoofer.
When less power is needed, such as during normal driving,
the low-lift mode reduces throttling, which improves
fuel economy.
• The two sound waves are commingled and cancel out
each other.
10
Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Ride & Handling
The 2014 Impala rides on the same premium global platform as the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS.
Newest Epsilon II Platform
StabiliTrak Stability
Control System
• Premium global platform has new structural
enhancements to optimize Impala’s ride and handling.
One example: Reinforced front strut towers improve
steering and reduce noise and vibration.
• Acts to reduce understeer and oversteer conditions to
help the driver get back on the intended course.
Traction Control
New Electric Belt-Driven
Rack-Mounted Power Steering
• Integrated with StabiliTrak.
• Provides traction when one or both of the front wheels
begin to lose traction.
• Compared to hydraulic systems, Impala’s electric power
steering is quieter, more engine efficient (no powerrobbing pump) and more fuel efficient (uses power only
when you’re turning).
4-Wheel Disc Brakes
• New split, dual-circuit system with vented front and solid
rear discs.
• Electric power steering can be precision-tuned. This
allows smooth, precise steering through a variety of
driving conditions.
• Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) applies
optimum braking force to all four wheels simultaneously.
This provides maximum vehicle stability under
heavy braking.
• Mounting the steering motor directly on the steering rack
instead of on the column reduces slippage. This results in
more direct steering response.
• Brake Assist adds braking pressure for shorter stops
during emergency braking.
• New variable assist varies steering effort depending upon
speed—more assist at lower speeds, less at higher speeds.
This provides more steering control in all
driving conditions.
New Larger Wheels
Fully Independent Suspension
• MacPherson strut front suspension, multilink
rear suspension.
•New rebound springs inside the front struts:
18" w/ cover
(standard LS)
– Help control roll and weight transfer for flat,
stable cornering.
18" alloy
(standard LT, Eco)
19" alloy
(available LT)
– Allow struts to be tuned for a smoother ride.
19" ultra-bright alloy
(standard 1LZ, 2LZ)
11
20" ultra-bright alloy
(available 2LZ)
Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Safety & Security
Safety Before
– New Rear Cross Traffic Alert. When you’re backing
up, the radar sensors also detect crossing traffic up
to 98 feet on either side. System provides visual and
audible warnings of approaching traffic.
•New controlled ride and precise handling help you steer
clear of accidents.
– New Rearview Camera provides a clear picture of
what’s immediately behind you.
The 2014 Impala is the safest Impala ever, with 10 air bags
and a new 360º safety zone.
• StabiliTrak, Traction Control and 4-wheel ABS provide
control in all driving conditions.
Safety During
• Daytime Running Lamps make the car more visible to
pedestrians and other drivers.
• 10 air bags – Frontal, front side, front knee, side-curtain
and rear side air bags are standard.
• Tire Pressure Monitoring System messages on the DIC
tell you when one or more tires are not properly inflated.
• Strong safety cage – Expanded use of high- and ultrahigh-strength steel builds a protective safety cage around
the cabin.
• OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics give you monthly email
updates on engine, transmission and more.
• 3-point safety belts – Provided at all five seating
positions.
• 360º Safety Zone
• New lap belt pretensioners – Front-seat shoulder
harnesses as well as lap belts have pretensioners to hold
occupants securely in place during a collision.
– New Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control uses radar in
the grille to keep a pre-selected safe distance (one, two
or three car lengths) between you and the car ahead.
System works at all speeds and automatically slows or
stops the car to maintain a safe distance. Operates as
a normal cruise control when you pull out to pass or
when there are no cars ahead of you.
• LATCH (Lower Anchors and Top Tethers for CHildren) –
Allow child safety seats to be securely attached in outside
rear seating positions.
• Pedestrian protection – The 2014 Impala is designed
to reduce the chance of a secondary collision between
the pedestrian and car’s engine block in a car/
pedestrian collision.
– New Collision Mitigation Braking automatically
applies the brakes to avoid a forward collision or reduce
impact speed. This feature is included with the FullRange Adaptive Cruise Control and operates whether
the Adaptive Cruise Control is on or not.
Safety After
• OnStar Automatic Crash Response – Included in Impala’s
standard 6-month OnStar Directions & Connections
service plan. In a crash, an OnStar Service Advisor is
immediately connected into the car to see if you need help
sent to your exact location—even if you can’t respond.
– New Forward Collision Alert uses either a camera in
the windshield or radar in the grille to monitor traffic
ahead. Provides visual and audible alerts if you are
closing too fast on a vehicle ahead.
– New Lane Departure Warning uses camera or radar
to scan the lines in the road ahead. Provides visual
and audible warnings if you unintentionally drift out
of your lane.
– New Side Blind Zone Alert uses radar sensors in the
rear side panels to cover a zone of about one lane wide
and 16 feet back from the outside mirrors on both
sides of the car. If vehicles are detected in these zones,
a symbol illuminates in the outside mirrors. If you use
your turn signals to indicate you are about to change
into that lane, symbol flashes as a warning it is not safe
to change lanes.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Quality, Reliability & Durability
The 2014 Impala is also the quietest Impala ever.
Quality you can see and touch
• Efficient aerodynamics result in a low 0.30 Cd to reduce
wind noise.
Premium-car quality is evident in Impala’s precise
fit-and-finish, level of refinement and premium
soft-touch materials.
• Acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and front side
windows further block wind and outside noise.
• DuraLife brake rotors are another visible example of
quality. Treated with a Ferritic Nitro Carburizing process,
this GM-exclusive feature results in:
• Triple-sealed doors fully seal the doors to reduce noise
coming into the car.
• Acoustic-perimeter water deflectors, typically found
only in luxury cars, further seal all four doors.
– Corrosion-resistant brake rotors that stay shiny and
new-looking.
• Acoustic baffles between the inner and outer rear panels
block road noise coming into the cabin.
– No brake shudder due to rust build-up on the rotors.
– Twice the brake rotor life of ordinary rotors.
• Floor pan sound deadeners block and absorb road noise.
Owner Peace of Mind
• Active Noise Cancellation cancels out certain lowfrequency noise in 2.5L models. See Power & Performance
for an explanation.
• 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage.
• 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
• 6-year/100,000-mile rust-through warranty.
• 5-year/100,000-mile emergency roadside assistance and
courtesy transportation.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Ford Taurus
Impala Interior Wins vs. Ford Taurus
• Quietness. Impala’s aerodynamic styling, acoustic
laminated glass in the windshield and front side windows
and other sound-cancelling measures give Impala a
quieter cabin than Taurus.
• More leg room. With an almost 4" leg room advantage up
front and nearly 2" in back, customers will find it easier
to stretch out and relax in the new Impala than in the
refreshed Taurus.
• More head room. Almost 1" more up front than Taurus.
The 2013 Taurus is a refresh of its 2010 design. Sheet
metal changes are most visible up front, with Ford’s new
trapezoidal grille and a more prominent hood. The biggest
change is under the hood. While the 3.5L V6 remains the
standard Taurus engine, Ford hopes most customers will
opt for the new 2.0L turbocharged (Ecoboost) 4-cylinder
engine. A $995 added cost, the new engine develops 240
horsepower, 270 foot pounds of torque and an estimated
22 city/32 highway MPG. This engine is also standard in the
new Ford Escape.
• Power steering column adjustment w/ memory. Both the
power adjustment and seat/mirror/column memory are
available on Impala. Neither is available on Taurus.
• More comfortable seats. Impala shares seat frames with
the new Cadillac XTS and its cushions are built in layers
like they are in expensive luxury cars.
• 4-way adjustable front head restraints. Head restraints
that adjust fore and aft and side by side are standard on
LS and LTZ models. This added driving comfort is not
available on Taurus.
Ford designers upgraded the Taurus interior as well to
provide a more premium environment. Car and Driver,
however, feels they missed the mark, writing: “The cheesy,
fake gathered-leather insert on the door panel had us
gritting our teeth.” They also said that, while the MyFord
Touch interface is improved, “the touch screen is still pretty
difficult to operate while under way”.
• Foldable rear head restraints. Head restraints that fold
down for greater rear visibility are available on LS and
standard on all other Impala models. They’re not available
on Taurus.
Impala Personal Technologies Wins
vs. Ford Taurus
• New enhanced MyLink. All 2014 Impala models include
six months of complimentary OnStar services including
turn-by-turn navigation. LT and LTZ models then add
the full Impala MyLink system with all of its expanded
customization, control and connectivity. That’s not the
case with Taurus telematics. On SE, Sync Services, which
provide some of the benefits of OnStar, are extra-cost.
Sync with MyFord, which includes only a 4.2" screen and
limited. connectivity, is standard on SEL and Limited.
Ford’s top telematics system, Sync with MyFord Touch, is
only available as an option on Taurus Limited. And even
then, it does not come close to matching the capabilities
of the new enhanced MyLink system in Impala.
The 2013 Taurus continues to be available in SE, SEL and
Limited trim levels, and the 365 hp SHO model.
Impala Exterior Design Wins vs. Ford Taurus
• Head-turning styling. Taurus styling may be refreshed,
but it’s still basically three-years old. Impala’s slick,
aerodynamic styling is all-new—and stands out from
the crowd.
• Bigger wheels. Impala provides 18", 19" and 20" wheels;
the standard Taurus wheel is still 17". Bigger wheels and
tires look better and provide better ride and handling.
• HID headlamps. This superior lighting system is standard
on LTZ. Even Taurus’s most expensive trim level doesn’t
offer it.
14
Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Ford Taurus
Impala Personal Technologies Wins vs.
Ford Taurus
• DuraLife brake rotors. Impala’s brake rotors include a
Ferritic Nitro Carburizing (FNC) treatment that resists
corrosion. This process keeps the brake rotors shiny and
new-looking, eliminates brake shudder caused by rust
build-up and doubles brake rotor service life. FNC-treated
brake rotors are not available on Taurus.
• Hidden storage. While both systems include 8" color
touch screens, Impala’s motorized screen slides up to
reveal a handy hidden storage compartment behind the
screen. This thoughtful touch is not included with Taurus.
• Powertrain warranty. Impala’s coverage extends for
100,000 miles. Taurus’s ends at 60,000 miles.
• Rear Park Assist. This convenience is available on LS. To
get it on Taurus you have to move up to their mid-level
trim, the SEL.
Impala Safety & Security Wins vs. Ford Taurus
• More air bags. Ten for Impala, only six for Taurus. (No
front knee air bags, no rear side air bags.)
• Standard navigation. OnStar’s turn-by-turn navigation is
standard on all Impala models. To enjoy it on Taurus you
either have to pay extra for it on SE or move up to SEL—a
$2,200 jump.
• Daytime Running Lamps. They help other drivers see
your car. You’ll find them standard on all models and a
special LED version on LTZ. You won’t find them
on Taurus Limited.
Impala Power & Performance Wins vs.
Ford Taurus
• Collision Mitigation Braking. This advanced safety
feature automatic applies the brakes when there is an
object suddenly in front of the car. Impala’s available
full-range adaptive cruise control includes it; Taurus’s
adaptive cruise control does not.
• More horsepower. 305 for Impala, just 288 for Taurus
(except SHO).
• More torque. Ten more foot-pounds (264 vs. 254).
• Direct injection. Helps increase power and fuel economy
and reduce emissions. Also a sign of a contemporary
engine. All Impala engines have it, the Taurus V6 doesn’t.
• More new safety technology. Lane Departure Warning
is available on LT and standard on LTZ. It is not available
on Taurus. Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic
Alert are also available on LT and standard on LTZ.
Neither of these new safety advances are available on
the Taurus SEL and are extra cost on the top-line
Premium model.
Impala Ride & Handling Wins vs. Ford Taurus
• More refined suspension. Both cars have similar
suspensions, but Impala’s is tuned for a more rewarding
driving experience. Motor Trend drove both cars and
found Impala handles both curves and bumps better.
Their conclusion: “(Impala) got the big-car ride and
handling right.”
• Automatic Crash Response. With OnStar, in a collision,
an OnStar Advisor will automatically call the car and
arrange for assistance even if there is no response. With
Sync Services’ 911 Alert, in a collision, a computer will
automatically dial 911—if there is a cell phone in the car,
if it is paired to Sync, and if it is turned on. Which system
would you rather have working for you?
• Rack-mounted steering. Both cars have electric variableassist steering. But by mounting the motor directly on
the steering rack (as opposed to Taurus’s columnmounted steering), Impala’s steering is more
instantaneous and direct.
• Roadside assistance. Impala provides it for 5 years or
100,000 miles. Taurus stops at 60,000 miles—just like
their powertrain warranty.
Impala QRD Wins vs. Ford Taurus
• Quietness. A quiet cabin is the sound of quality. Impala
uses thick acoustic-laminated glass in the windshield and
front side windows to block noise coming into the cabin.
This is not the case with Taurus.
• Courtesy transportation. Not offered on Taurus. Impala
provides this convenience for five years or 100,000 miles.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Hyundai Azera
Impala Interior Wins vs. Hyundai Azera
• More leg room. Hyundai claims that Azera has the most
leg room in its class. That may have been true last year,
but it’s not true this year. The new Impala tops Azera in
front-seat leg room and provides a whopping 3" more in
the rear seat.
• More trunk room. Impala’s longer length not only results
in more leg room, but significantly more trunk room as
well: 18.8 cu.ft. for Impala; only 16.3 for Azera.
• More comfortable seats. Impala shares seat frames with
the new Cadillac XTS and its cushions are built in layers
like they are in expensive luxury cars. Azera doesn’t talk
about its seat construction.
The Azera was all-new as a 2012 model and is essentially
unchanged as a 2013 model. It slots between the mid-size
Sonata and Hyundai’s luxury Genesis sedan. Or as
Edmunds put it: “(Azera) is really just a bigger, slightly
more luxurious Sonata.”
• Heated steering wheel. You can enjoy that luxury on
Impala, not on Azera.
• 4-way adjustable front head restraints. Head restraints
that adjust fore and aft and side by side are standard on
LT and LTZ models. This added driving comfort is not
available on Azera.
Azera is available in two trim levels: Azera and Azera with
Technology Package. Powertrains are limited to Hyundai’s
293 hp. 3.3L V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission
with Driver Shift Control. Azera’s strong appeal is its
dramatic styling coupled with a high level of luxury features
at a relatively low price. Leather seating surfaces, dualzone automatic climate control and keyless access with
pushbutton start are all standard on the base Azera. Its
weakness is its lackluster driving experience. Edmunds
said Azera’s handling “feels rather soft, like a traditional
American sedan for traditional Americans”, and added
“there’s not much in the way of steering feel either.”
• Foldable rear head restraints. Head restraints that fold
down for greater rear visibility are available on LS and
standard on all other Impala models. They’re not available
on Azera.
Impala Personal Technologies Wins vs.
Hyundai Azera
• Bigger touch screen. Impala’s enhanced MyLink color
touch screen is 8". The Azera’s Blue Link screen is just 7".
Car and Driver was more succinct: “(The Azera owner) says
to the world, “I needed a car, and Hyundai sells cars”.
• Hidden storage. Impala’s color touch screen comes with
a bonus: the motorized screen rises up to reveal a hidden
compartment behind it. This lockable storage is like
having a small safe right inside your car.
Impala Exterior Design Wins vs. Hyundai Azera
• Bigger wheels. Azera’s biggest wheels are 19". Impala tops
that with 20" wheels available on 2LZ.
Impala Power & Performance Wins vs.
Hyundai Azera
• Bigger engine. Impala’s V6 is 3.6L, Azera’s is 3.3L.
• More horsepower. As you might expect from its bigger
engine, Impala tops Azera in power: 305 to 293.
• More torque. 264 lbs.-ft. for Impala, just 255 for Azera –
another reason why most automotive journalists prefer
the new Impala to the 2013 Azera.
16
Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Hyundai Azera
Impala Ride & Handling Wins vs. Hyundai Azera
Impala Safety & Security Wins vs. Hyunda Azera
• More refined suspension. Both cars have similar
suspensions, but Impala’s is tuned for a more rewarding
driving experience. Azera’s online brochure boasts that its
suspension is “tuned to perfection”. Edmunds said “it rolls
and wallows.”
• More air bags. Azera’s claim that its nine air bags are the
most of any car in the segment is no longer true. The 2014
Impala has ten standard air bags, including knee air bags
for both driver and front passenger.
• More advanced safety features. Adaptive Cruise Control,
Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Alert,
Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear
Cross Traffic Alert are all standard or available on LT and
LTZ models. None of these new safety features are offered
on Azera.
• Rack-mounted steering. Both cars have electric variableassist steering. But by mounting the motor directly on
the steering rack (as opposed to Azera’s column-mounted
steering), Impala’s steering is more instantaneous
and direct.
Impala QRD Wins vs. Hyundai Azera
• Quietness. Impala uses thick acoustic-laminated glass
in its windshield and side windows to block noise. This
premium sound-reducing feature is not used in Azera.
• Transferable warranty. Impala’s 5-year/100,000-mile
powertrain warranty is fully transferable. Only 5 years
and 60,000 miles of Azera’s 100,000-mile warranty is
transferable.
• DuraLife brake rotors. Impala’s brake rotors are treated
with a Ferritic Nitro Carburizing process that helps
prevent rust. This keeps the brake rotors looking shiny
and new longer, eliminates brake shudder caused by rust
build-up on the rotors, and doubles brake rotor service
life. This added quality is not available on Azera.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Toyota Avalon
Impala Exterior Design Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• Bigger wheels. Bigger wheels look better, especially on
larger cars. The new Avalon offers 17” and 18” wheels. The
new Impala offers 18”, 19” and 20”.
• More Car. Impala is also longer, wider and taller than
the slimmed-down Avalon. Check the interior and trunk
space comparisons to see the customer benefits of this
new selling advantage.
Image not yet available
• HID headlamps. This superior lighting system is standard
on 1LZ and 2LZ. On Avalon, you have to go all the way up
to their expensive Limited trim level to get them.
Motor Trend noted that “past Avalons were known for
their three-box shape, JELL-O ride and sailboat steering.” The all-new 2013 Avalon changes all that , and follows the
new Impala’s lead in terms of styling, ride and handling.
The current Avalon’s bland exterior is replaced by an
aerodynamic, highly sculptured shape and ride and
handling are now more controlled and precise. A driverselectable Sport mode that heightens throttle, steering and
transmission response is also new for 2013.
Impala Interior Design Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• More leg room. Over 3-and-a-half inches more up front;
over a half-inch more in back.
• More head room. More in front and more in back.
• More total passenger room. Impala is one of the
roomiest cars in the segment, with nearly one-and-a-half
cubic feet more space inside than Avalon.
The 2013 Avalon has the same wheelbase as the Lexus
ES and shares the ES’s powertrains. The 268-hp 3.5L V6
continues as the standard engine and a new hybrid
motor joins the line-up. The V6 is estimated at 21 city,
31 highway mpg.
• More trunk room. Impala has an 18.8. cu.ft. trunk. Avalon
comes up short with just 16 cu. ft.
The current two trim levels (Base and Limited) are replaced
by three new trim level models. The base XLE is available
only with the V6. The XLE Touring is offered with both V6
and hybrid power as is the top-trim Limited model. Prices
go up rapidly: the base XLE begins at under $32,000; a welloptioned Limited can easily top $43,000.
• Ambient lighting. Both cars have it. But Avalon has
nothing to compare with Impala’s dramatic IP and door
trim strip with night-time bleed-through ambient lighting.
• Power steering column w/ memory. Both the power
adjustment and seat/mirror/column memory are available
on Impala. Neither are available on Avalon.
• 4-way adjustable front head restraints. Head restraints
that adjust fore and aft and side by side are standard
on LS and LT models. This added driving comfort is not
available on Avalon.
• Foldable rear head restraints. Head restraints that fold
down for greater rear visibility are available on LS and
standard on all other Impala models. They’re not available
on Avalon.

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Toyota Avalon
Impala Personal Technologies Wins vs.
Toyota Avalon
Impala Safety & Security Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• Rear camera and rear park assist. Impala owners can
have both on their car. Even Avalon Limited owners are
limited to just a rear camera.
• Bigger touch screen. Impala’s enhanced MyLink color
touch screen is 8". The Avalon’s infotainment screen is
just 6.5".
• 360º safety. Up front, Impala owners can have the safety
of Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision
Mitigation Braking. as well as Forward Collision Alert.
Side Blind Zone Alert and Lane Departure Warning are
available on Eco 2SA and LT and standard on LTZ, as is
Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Avalon offers only a Blind Side
Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert – and then only on
their two most expensive trim levels.
• Hidden storage. Impala’s motorized screen powers up
to reveal a hidden compartment behind it. This lockable
storage is like having a small hidden safe right inside your
car. It’s one more thoughtful feature customers won’t find
on Avalon.
Impala Performance Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• More horsepower. 305 for Impala’s 3.5L V6; just 268 for
Avalon’s 3.5L V6
• More torque. 264 lb.-ft. for Impala; just 248 for Avalon.
• Direct injection. This technology boosts power and fuel
economy and reduces emissions. Impala’s V6 is direct
injected, Avalon’s is not.
Impala Ride & Handling Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• Rack-mounted steering. Both cars have electric
variable-assist steering. But by mounting the motor
directly on the steering rack (as opposed to Avalon’s column-mounted steering), Impala’s steering is more
instantaneous and direct.
Impala QRD Wins vs. Toyota Avalon
• Powertrain warranty. Impala’s 5-year warranty
extends for 100,000 miles. Avalon’s warranty runs
out at 60,000 miles.
• DuraLife brake rotors. Impala’s brake rotors are treated
with a Ferritic Nitro Carburizing process that helps

Introducing the All-New
2014 IMPALA
Impala vs. Nissan Maxima
Impala Interior Wins vs. Nissan Maxima
• More room. The 2013 Maxima actually has less interior
room (95.8 cu. ft.) than its mid-sized sibling, the new
Altima. In contrast, Impala’s passenger volume is a
comfortable 105.0 cu. ft.
• More head, shoulder and hip room. And that’s true for
both front and rear seats.
• More leg room. We treat this separately because it’s
especially significant: Two more inches more leg room up
front. And just over five more inches in the rear.
All-new in 2009, Nissan’s flagship sedan comes into 2013
with modestly refreshed exterior and interior treatments.
Maxima is available in S and SV trim levels and offers
a changed mix of option packages for 2013. In SV trim,
the $3250 Sport Package adds a more sporty driving
experience with 19" wheels and a more performanceoriented suspension. The $3700 Premium Package puts the
emphasis on Luxury.
• Larger trunk. Customers get over 4-and-a-half cu. ft.
more room for luggage (18.8) in Impala than they do in
Maxima (14.2). In fact, Maxima’s trunk is almost one cubic
foot smaller than the compact Chevrolet Cruze.
• More comfortable seats. Impala shares seat frames with
the new Cadillac XTS and its cushions are built in layers
like they are in expensive luxury cars.
• Heated steering wheel. Customers can enjoy this luxury
on Impala, not so on Maxima.
The automotive enthusiast site, LeftLane News, believes
that Maxima “doesn’t live up to its ‘4-door sports sedan’
billing’.” However Edmunds gives it the benefit of the doubt
and says Maxima “delivers a nice balance between athletic
handling and a plush ride”. Nissan’s 3.5L V6 and 4-mode
CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) remain the only
powertrain choice. The current-generation Maxima is also
showing its age: The interior is cramped, trunk space is
limited, and many of the new technology features offered on
competitive makes are not available on the 2013 Maxima.
• 4-way adjustable front head restraints. Head restraints
that adjust fore and aft and side by side are standard on
LT and LTZ Impala models. This added driving comfort is
not available on Maxima.
• Foldable rear head restraints. Head restraints that fold
down for greater rear visibility are available on LS and
standard on all other Impala models. They’re not available
on Maxima.
Impala Personal Technologies Wins vs.
Nissan Maxima
Impala Exterior Design Wins vs. Nissan Maxima
• Head-turning styling. The 2014 Impala is all new and
looks it. Despite its recent design updates, the 2013
Maxima is still almost four years old—and looks it. As
Edmunds said, “(Maxima) lacks the brand cachet its
price implies.”
• MyLink. Impala’s enhanced MyLink system includes a
customizable 8" color touch screen, Pandora satellite
radio control, MyMedia, iPad-like control, natural speech
recognition and much more. Maxima provides Bluetooth
wireless technology, a USB port and a DIC.
• Bigger wheels. Larger wheels look better and benefit ride
and handling. On Maxima, 18" wheels are standard and
19" are available. Impala offers 18", 19" and 20" wheels.
• 8" color touch screen. Impala models with Mylink include
a state-of-the-art 8" color touch screen. Unless you order
the very expensive hard-drive navigation system, Maxima
includes only a 7" non-touch color screen with its DIC.
• Hidden storage. There is a hidden storage compartment
behind Impala’s motorized 8" color touch screen.
Maxima’s screen is fixed.

• Rack-mounted steering. Both cars have electric
variable-assist steering. But by mounting the motor
directly on the steering rack (as opposed to Maxima’s
column-mounted steering), Impala’s steering is more
instantaneous and direct.
• More speakers. Impala’s available Bose surround sound
audio system includes 11 Bose speakers. Maxima’s
maximum number is nine.
Impala QRD Wins vs. Nissan Maxima
• Surround sound. Available on Impala, not available
on Maxima.
• Quietness. Impala uses thick acoustic-laminated glass
in the windshield and front side windows to block sound
coming into the cabin. This premium feature is not used
on Maxima.
• Turn-by-Turn Navigation. All Impala models include
it as part of their complimentary six months of
OnStar service. Maxima has no standard navigation.
• DuraLife brake rotors. Impala’s brake rotors include a
Ferritic Nitro Carburizing (FNC) treatment that resists
corrosion. This process keeps the brake rotors shiny and
new-looking, eliminates brake shudder caused by rust
build-up and doubles brake rotor service life. FNC-treated
brake rotors are not available on Maxima
• OnStar. Provides a suite of safety and convenience
features. Maxima has no telematics system.
• Mobile convenience. Both OnStar and MyLink offer
mobile apps that allow customers to access their service
miles from the car. No such contemporary convenience is
available with Maxima.
• Powertrain warranty. Impala’s extends for 100,000
miles. Maxima’s ends at 60,000 miles.
Impala Power & Performance Wins vs.
Nissan Maxima
Impala Safety & Security Wins vs.
Nissan Maxima
• More power and torque. Impala’s 3.6L V6 delivers 15
more horsepower (305) and three more foot-pounds of
torque (264) than Maxima’s 3.5L V6.
• More air bags. Ten for Impala, six for Maxima.
• More advanced safety features. Adaptive Cruise Control,
Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Alert,
Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear
Cross Traffic Alert are all standard or available on LT and
LTZ models. None of these new safety features are offered
on Maxima.
• Direct injection. One sign of a state-of-the-art engine,
direct injection boosts power and fuel economy and
reduces emissions. Impala’s engine has it; Maxima’s
engine still has older-style multi-port fuel injection.
• 6-speed automatic transmission. Maxima’s CVT has
no shift points—one reason why many consumers and
enthusiast publications dislike Continuously Variable
Transmissions. In fact, in order to provide a more sporty
and satisfying driving experience, Maxima engineers
actually built phony shift points into the transmission
to simulate gear changes. Impala gives customers the
genuine article—a full 6-speed automatic transmission.
• Automatic Crash Response. This potentially life-saving
service is standard on all Impala models as part of their
complimentary six months of OnStar. Maxima offers no
such service.
• Roadside assistance. Impala provides it for five years or
100,000 miles. Maxima provides no assistance.
• Courtesy transportation. Impala provides this
convenience for five years or 100,000 miles as well.
Maxima does not.
Impala Ride & Handling Wins vs. Nissan Maxima
• Premium driving experience. Impala’s suspension and
steering are tuned to provide an exhilarating driving
experience. Car and Driver notes that the latest Maxima
“lacks the refined feel and precise handling of some of
its competition.” Customer will find that competition
includes the 2014 Impala.

he dealership facility has several “front doors” – physical facility, web presence, and
T
telephone. Warm, welcoming, and inviting facilities encourage guests to come through
the door for the first time and return in the future.
Internet traffic has increased dramatically over the past three years. Timely, quality
responses to sales and service leads are critical to bringing guests through the
dealership’s doors.
Product and service knowledge is fundamental – guests expect the dealership staff to be
experts. This knowledge also helps bring the value and advantages of Chevrolet products
and services to life.
he purchase and delivery of a new vehicle is an emotional time for most customers.
T
Making the delivery a memorable event for your customer helps to establish a positive
emotional connection.
The Sales-to-Service Hand-off sets the tone for a continuing relationship with the
customer. Customers who service their vehicle at the dealership tend to return for
their next vehicle purchase.
Increased vehicle quality and longer service intervals means fewer opportunities to
nurture the customer relationship. Make the after-service delivery of the vehicle back to
the guest a memorable experience. It's the last impression guests have on your dealership.
Customer OnStar® Vehicle Diagnostics and Dealer Maintenance Notification provide
peace of mind for the Retention guest and add increased opportunities for guest contact
to enhance the relationship.
DO THE BASICS BRILLIANTLY.
