Rules & Agreement HAYC3 is proud to announce the community’s first Fall into Painting Plein Air event! “En plein air” means “in the open air,” and is the technique of painting outdoors, directly from life. We invite artists of all skill th
level to participate in this exciting new event. Participants will commence on Saturday, September 26 for a day-­‐long painting event. At completion, paintings will be brought to the HAYC3 Armory for a silent auction event and art sale that will take place Saturday night through Sunday morning. Please see the complete schedule below. Entry Fee: $50 Awards: Best-­‐of-­‐Show: $300; Second Place: $200; Third Place: $100 Rules for the Event: 1. Artists may paint any subject/scene outdoors, as long as it is within the village of Hoosick Falls. 2. All canvas will be stamped prior to painting. No unstamped art will be accepted for judging. 3. Registration will be held online starting September 1, and the day-­‐of from 8-­‐9AM at the check-­‐in table in Wood Memorial Park on Main Street. 4. Each work of art must be started and completed en plein air, with nothing pre-­‐painted or pre-­‐drawn. 5. The size of the unframed artwork is not to exceed 18” x 24”. 6. The artwork will be for sale and prices are set by the artist. The artist must agree that 30% of the selling price shall go to HAYC3. The monetary transaction for each artwork sold will be handled by HAYC3. The state’s 8% sales tax will be added to the price of each painting that sells. Artists must provide their Social Security Numbers or Federal EINs for any sale over $600. 7. Artists under the age of 18 must include a consent form from a parent or guardian to be eligible to participate. 8. Artists must provide their own materials and a sturdy easel for display during the judging process. Artists, or an artist-­‐designated representative, will be required to remain with their easels during the exhibition and will be responsible for the safety of their paintings. HAYC3 shall assume no responsibility for loss or damage to any work, display, or person during the event. 9. After the judging, all participants must keep their entries on display from 4-­‐5PM. This is an opportunity for artists to interact with people who will be viewing the art. Submission and Jury Process: 1. Registration is required. 2. Paintings must be delivered to the HAYC3 Armory (80 Church Street) by 3:30PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Event staff will assists artists in setting up their easels and artwork for the exhibition. 3. Each artist must submit one finished painting for the competition. 4. Each finished painting submitted must be signed on the front. Attach an index card stating the artist’s name, hometown, title of the world, and price. 5. The “Plein Art Stamp” provided at registration must be visible on the back of each painting at the time of submission. 6. Paintings must be appropriately framed, mounted, and have a secure wire for hanging. 7. Jurors will be determined closer to the time of the event. 2
Rights: Entrant of the Fall into Painting: Plein Air Art Show understands that HAYC3 reserves the right to not accept paintings to do not fall within the contest rules. Entrant acknowledges receipt of the rules governing the event and agrees that as a condition of being selected as a winner and accepting any prize, that HAYC3 shall have the right to publicize and/or broadcast entrant’s name, likeness, voice, photographs, and the fact that he/she was selected as well as the dissemination of other information related to the selection. Entrant declares that the painting is his/her own work, and that the entrant is not aware of any ownership or copyright infringement of another person through submission. To expedite the registration process, please register before the event! Event Schedule SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 8am: Registration – Get canvas stamped and receive information packet at Wood Memorial Park. 9am-­‐3pm: Painting – Artists paint throughout the day. Please note: lunch will not be provided. Please plan accordingly. 3pm: Painting Delivery – Paintings will be brought to the HAYC3 Armory (80 Church St.) for the auction. 4-­‐6pm: Silent Auction – Artwork will be displayed for an auction, the starting bid to be set by the artist. 6-­‐7pm: Judging – The public (including artists) will be asked to leave the exhibition at this time. 7pm: Awards – Judges will announce the first, second, and third place winners. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 11am-­‐5pm: Art Sale – All unsold paintings will be on sale for a fixed price, set by the artist. 2pm: Closing – Paintings can now be taken home by the buyer or, if unsold, by the artist. 3
