Prayer for the People of Nepal
This week let us pray in solidarity with the people of Nepal who have been
struck by two earthquakes in the past month with devastating consequences
on a scale we can only imagine.
Loving God,
We pray for all those affected by the earthquake in Nepal as we offer the
words of Psalm 31:25 “Be strong and take heart, all who hope in the Lord”
May those who are paralysed by fear… Be strong and take heart
May those who have lost or are still searching for loved ones … Be strong and
take heart,
May those who remain trapped under rubble … Be strong and take heart,
May those rescue workers who provide relief and recovery … Be strong and
take heart,
May those who are moved with compassion to help … Be strong and take
heart,
God, whose love knows no bounds, fill all those who suffer with your comfort and peace.

Debutante Ball
Congratulations to the Hennessy Community Council, Mrs Marie Singh,
the Debutantes and partners and all involved with the organisation of the
2015 Debutante Ball held at the PCYC last Saturday evening. With twenty
nine debutantes and over seven hundred in attendance it was an extremely
successful event. The Debutantes and their partners looked magnificent
and presented themselves in an exemplary manner. Fr.Tom Thornton ,
Mayor Councillor John Walker and I were proud to receive the debutantes
on behalf of the community. The formal dances of the debutantes and
partners was also a delight to enjoy. Well done to everybody and thank
you for the support of the College this event provides.
Enrolments are Now Due
After Open Day and the visits to all the feeder schools enrolments are
open and we are looking forward to the continuing steady flow of enrolment paperwork that is due in by the end of next week 22/5/15.
Interviews have already begun and places are filling fast.

Year 10 into Year 11 from Cootamundra and Temora
Last Friday we hosted students from Sacred Heart and St Anne’s commencing the conversation about transition from Year 10 to Year 11. Next year we
take our first students from St Anne’s Temora into Year 11. We went over to
Temora last Monday evening to meet with parents. It was a most successful
evening and we look forward to welcoming those students into Year 11 in
2016 and , like the students from Cootamundra see them become a real part
of the Hennessy community.
Prayers Requested
Please keep Mrs Roz Burge and her family in your prayers after the passing
of her dear mother last night at the age of 91. As well please keep Mr Owen
Pippard, his wife Alison and their family in your prayers after the passing of
Alison’s mother , Mrs Sheila Rhodes, this week.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon
them, may they rest in Peace.

Community Connections
Parenting success…
Just when you think am I not doing enough for them it has been found that
parents spend more time actively engaged with their children than they did in
the 1960’s. From research in the May Journal of Marriage and Family (US) reports on average mothers spend 13.7 hours with their children (10.5 in 1965)
with fathers spending 7.2 hours (2.6 in 1965). According to the Australian Institute of Family Studies mothers spend 18 hours and fathers 11 hours with their
school aged children. These hours increases, by mothers and particularly by
fathers, helps sons and daughters develop their sense of self-worth and stronger relationships in the future, continuing to develop good men and women.
Year 12 Parent /Teacher /Student Interviews
Year 12 PTS will be held on Monday 25th May from 4 – 6pm in D block and BD
block. Online bookings processes will be open soon. Reminder the Dubbo
Study Days planned for year 12 on June 4-5th have been cancelled for our students.
School Mass
Please mark the date of Saturday 23rd May for Gallagher house school mass at
6pm on the Saturday night at St Mary’s. It would be great to see as many of our
students, and families, taking the opportunity to celebrate their faith and
breaking bread together.
Driver Policy and Processes
All student drivers upon receiving their licence (P plates) need to complete and submit the drive to and from school forms to me to be processed.
The policy and form are available on our school website.
Student Parking
Those students driving to school are requested to park at the Caple St end of
Ripon St only. We request this so that there is ample parking for parishioners
attending church. Failure to do so may result is your driving privileges being
suspended.
Great Feedback on our Children
Over the last few weeks we have been involved in a diverse range of community events and had guest speakers present at our school. The feedback from all
of these situations has been significant regarding our children’s ability to contribute, exhibit confidence and inquiry. Thanks for your guidance as parents in
raising the beautiful young people we have the opportunity to teach and work
with.

Due to the College being unable to provide supervision
for students at the Library for afternoon study on Tuesday 19th May and Tuesday 16th May (week 5 & 6 Tuesdays) the Library will be closed and unavailable for students on those afternoons. All other Tuesday and Thursday afternoons will operate as normal. 3:30pm-5pm. No
study in Week 10. We apologise for any inconvenience

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL RESULTS
Another great Hennessy Athletics Carnival took place on Thursday. Congratulations to:
Ross Everdell, who was the fastest boy in the school, winning both the 100 and 200m sprints.
Ashleigh Carroll, who won both the 100 and 200m sprints to claim the title as the fastest girl in
the school.
Sammy Maxwell, who was the only female to compete in all 11 events throughout the day.
Charles Crisp, who was the only male to compete in all 11 events throughout the day.

Kickstart Soccer
'Kickstart Soccer’ is a program designed for children with a disability aged
5-12 who would like to participate in a team sport and learn to play soccer in
a structured, fun environment. The focus of the program will be on skill development, active participation and having fun.
Parent/carer participation is vital for this program to run successfully. Depending on each child’s needs and abilities, parents or carers will be asked to
participate in the program with their child or at the very least remain at the
field for the duration of the session (approx. 45 minutes).
The program will be conducted at Gus Smith Oval Young beginning on Saturday 23rd May in conjunction with the junior soccer competition.
The cost for the 2015 season is $30 which includes the use of a playing
shirt.
Socks, $10 and shorts, $20 can be purchased at the club house when registering.
Registrations will be held at Gus Smith Oval on Saturday the 9th and 16th of
May from 9.00am to 11.00 am.
