He was active in the AMA, TMA, AAP, TPS, and Bell County Medical Society. He retired in 1998, but continued to be active in Scott & White Emeritus activities and was keenly interested in watching the McLane Children’s Hospital become a reality. For many, his most memorable roles were as exemplary leader, clinician, mentor, and teacher. The Robert E. Myers, MD Lectureship in Pediatrics was established in 1992 by friends, colleagues, and associates, to honor Dr. Myers as one of the pioneers of Pediatric Medicine at Scott & White and throughout the state, with the goal to continue his dedication and commitment to medical education. This year the Lectureship becomes a memorial to Dr. Myers as he died on March 28th, 2014, on the day of the 23rd Annual Lectureship. He is survived by his wife Katherine, three children (Bob, Beth, and Jack) 8 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
