Healthy Waterways Limited Position Description POSITION: COMPANY ACCOUNTANT CLASSIFICATION: Level 6 REMUNERATION PACKAGE: (Refer to HR) REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer EFFECTIVE FULL TIME: 1 FTE (6 Months with a view to further extension) HOURS PER WEEK: 37.5 – 40.0 LOCATION: CBD, Brisbane COMMENCEMENT: 1 May 2015 AUTHORISED BY: Chief Executive Officer POSITION LAST REVIEWED: New Position POSITION Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible for managing the full accounting function of Healthy Waterways Limited and associated organisation or Fund including overseeing the Graduate Accountant function, preparing financial reporting and general accounting duties as required. This position will also play an active role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer with any compliance reporting requirements, new business initiatives and business system improvements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare timely, professional and accurate reporting and analysis Develop strong relationships with a number of internal stakeholders. Monthly management reporting and analysis. Prepare month end close procedures including accruals, prepayments and associated journals. Preparing activity statement and any taxation requirement reporting to the ATO. Assisting with streamlining processes, audit and compliance processes. Managing the payroll function. Ad-hoc project work as required. Grant acquittals as required. Overseeing stock take and inventory controls. Managing Fixed Asset management. Managing external IT provider and overseeing the IT function including supporting the Chief Financial Officer in the organisation Information System Management. Assisting Chief Financial Officer with various financial reports and any other work as required. Any additional support required by Program areas as determined by the Chief Financial Officer. For more information, please visit www.healthywaterways.org Qualifications, Experience and Skills 3 to 5 years in financial accounting or management accounting; Tertiary qualifications in Accounting; Experience in payroll functions; CPA or CA membership (Desirable;) Exposure to XERO, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar accounting packages experience and excel spreadsheet skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstrated ability and affinity to work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve program objectives and organisational goals. Good time management skills and demonstrated ability to work within deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with limited supervision and good attention to details. Demonstrated competence and/or training in Microsoft Office programs ie Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Demonstrated competence and/or training in Microsoft Office programs ie Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, as well as Customer Relationship Management system. Working Relationships Internal Report to the Chief Financial Officer The graduate accountant reports functionally to this position Work closely with the Assistant Manager – Business Services and Administration Assistant Liaison with other program areas within the office External Partner organisations including representatives of the Local, State and Federal Governments Industry organisations Community Groups Key Selection Criteria ESSENTIAL KSC 1 Demonstrated Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Commercial Law. KSC 2 Demonstrated experience in managing complex financial reporting, multi dimension chart of accounts and reconciliations skills. KSC 3 Demonstrated well developed time management skills, attention to detail, communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills. KSC 4 Demonstrated exposure to grant acquittals, project accounting and internal Controls Ability to provide insight and analytical support to key strategic and operational issues including having a commercial mindset on profit and revenue generation combined with empathy for a Not for Profit organisation. KSC5 DESIRABLE SC6 SC7 Experience in IT management and implementing business processes and controls. Exposure to Customer Relationship Management systems. MINIMUM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS of the role are subject to review from year to year by the CEO: Demonstrated support for 4 Strategic Performance Measures On time delivery of completion of monthly reporting On time completion of Payroll and any reporting to ATO Efficient and effective management of financial system Support and adhere to all HWL policies and processes Special Terms and Conditions of Appointment The employee should have a current Queensland driver’s licence as the contract may require travel throughout South-East Queensland. Access to a vehicle will be provided, or travel costs will be reimbursed at an agreed rate.
