Message from the President
Hi all,
Well what a great weekend!! Sadly I think that’s the first time I have written that all year, but better
late than never.
CONGRATULATIONS to our U/16’s and their co coaches Damian Rigby and Trevor Hinde, on winning
the Premiership on Sunday. It was a great day with the boys putting on an almost faultless display.
Trevor, Damian and all the players, you all should be very proud of your efforts, as we are as a club,
with you boys coming through the grades, our future is bright!
Congratulations also go to Scabs and the 2nds, and Ian Miller and the 4ths, for winning their way
into Semi Finals this weekend. The 2nds are playing Sorrento at home, while the 4ths are playing
Langwarrin at Langwarrin. We wish both Scabs and Ian and all the boys all the very best, and
hopefully both sides get through to the big dance. I urge everybody to get to both grounds and show
your support.
Lastly I would like to congratulate Kristian Miller on his first victory as 1st XI captain. It has been a
long and tough year in the 1sts, but to finish with a win was a great feeling, and credit to the boys for
continuing to have a crack.
Senior Presentation Night this year is Friday 10th of April at The Grand, details to follow.
Junior Presentation Night is Friday 13th of March at the Clubrooms, would love to see lots of Seniors

That’s all for now,

Senior Match Reports
Provincial First XI
Heatherhill 9/144 defeated Moorooduc 10/119
J. Theobold 33, BT. Maxwell 27, J. Powell 20, J. Hinde 7/30, J. Powell 2/34
After a long year we came down the last round against Moorooduc. Still winless we were hungry
than we'd been all season to try and put at least 1 win on the board for what had been a tough year
for the 1st XI.
I won the toss and decided to bat, with the message being to the boys to just go out and enjoy
ourselves and see what happens. A win would put us on even points with Moorooduc but their
percentage being significantly better it would take something special.
Unfortunately we didn't get the start we were hoping for loosing wickets in clumps as we'd done all
year. Once again snake showed why he's been our best and most reliable bat all year sticking
through majority of the overs making a patient 33 which included a lot of great shots which he just
couldn't get through the field. At 9/104 it was looking like we would have enough, but thanks to a
unbeaten 40 run stand from 1st innings specialist Jono Powell and man of the match Jase Hinde we
got ourselves to 9/144 off our 40.
Pud and snake took the new ball for a change and through a bit of luck and some good shots
Moorooduc found themselves race to 1/60 in quick time with the dangerous bobby Wilson still in.
Enter Jase and Jono once again! The 2 boys put the brakes on their innings and regularly took wicket
to send them crashing all out for 119 in the 25th over. It was perfect partnership bowling, Jono who
bowled with great late swing kept it tight, while Jase from the other end who hardly missed a beat,
kept it simple and bowled stump to stump with a good pace. Jono finished with 2/34 off 8 and jase
with a career best 7/30 of 8 with 5 bowled, 1 lbw and caught behind. Great reward for his hard work
at training. With 14 over left we roughly calculated we'd need 0/200 to have any chance of getting
near Moorooduc’s percentage. At 2/64 of 5 we called it a day. Although we got relegated I couldn't
of been prouder with the way we played the last 3 games to try and salvage something. At the end
of day we can hold our heads high and say at least we had crack... Unlike Jono did in Adelaide.
Congratulations to Paddy Skelly on making the only senior 100 this season in the 4th XI this round.
Plenty more to come in the future.
Congratulations to Riggers, Bubbles and Jake Rigby on your u/16 flag on the weekend boys. Plenty of
talent in that team that without a doubt will be pushing for regular 1st XI spots in the coming years.
And to the 2's and 4's go well this week in your semi's.
Provincial Second XI
Heatherhill 6/189 defeated Moorooduc 10/104
SCOOB 55, CLAPPY 33, BRENDAN 2/23, CLAPPY 3/18, JAKE 3/33
Batting first against a slightly under strength Moorooduc we managed improvement from last round
compiling 189 off our 40 overs Clappy getting a handy 33 and Scoob hitting a quick fire 55. Our
Round Eleven
Tails of Bruce Park 2014/2015
bowling was consistent, backed up by one of our better fielding displays we caught everything that
came our way and they were never really in the hunt, Brendan 2 Clappy 3 and Jake 3 the main
wicket takers, so a victory and an unexpected second placed finish and home final let's hope we take
the opportunity and continue on for another week. Congrats to Jake and his boys on their grand final
victory, job well done.
Third XI
Heatherhill 24 defeated by Balnarring 6/155
Fourth XI
Heatherhill 5/206 defeated Baden Powell 9/192
P. Skelly 101no, I. Miller 60, L. Avery 22 & 3/29, L. Hellyer 4/31, A. Neal 2/44
A fantastic game this round with the boys putting together our best performance for the year
against one of the best sides in the competition to secure a place in the finals. Needing to win to
ensure a finals berth we won the toss and batted. After a shaky start we lost a couple of early
wickets however, Pat Skelly steadied the ship and put together a fantastic innings of 101 not out
which was his first ever century. This knock combined with same late order hitting from Lachy Avery
ensured that we got a brilliant score of 206 which was extremely defendable on Baxter 7. We then
came out to bowl with our plan to bowl good areas and restrict their scoring. On the most part our
bowlers executed this extremely well. Lachy Hellyer was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets and
also being on a hatrick. Lachy Avery and Moose bowled fantastically at the death bowling in good
areas and picking up crucial wickets ensuring that Baden Powell fell short of the required total. This
year has been a fantastic effort with a team full of junior players. But it doesn’t stop here we have
Langwarrin next week so let’s knock them off and play off in a Grand Final. GO HILLS
Fifth XI
Heatherhill 8/110 defeated Tyabb 10/105
J. Wheeler 49, T. Manohar 23, L. Myatt 3/46
In our final game for the year, we sent Tyabb into bat. After an early breakthrough and in perfect
bowling conditions, wickets were hard to come by until Luke Myatt broke through to remove two of
the upper order, snaring a sharp caught and bowled along the way. Jack Wheeler put in a good spell
from the other end and Thilak Manohar cleaned up the tail. Our fielding, which was the best for the
year, yielded three run outs, with Luke Myatt, Colin Avery and Thilak Manohar showing the way,
while David Glennie and Jack Wheeler took spectacular catches. In reply, we were reeling at four
down for less than ten until Thilak Manohar and Jack Wheeler, who fell just short of a half century,
knuckled down and batted with cool heads to steer us to victory. After a lean season, it was great to
finish off with a win with some even suggesting that the introduction of cordial at drinks may have
been a contributing factor.

U/16 Grand Final Match Report
Heatherhill 10/156 smashed Somerville 10/82
Jake Rigby 54, Lachlan Hinde 38, Lachlan Avery 22, Jake Rigby 3/11,
Lachlan Hinde 2/14, Luke Frith 2/13 Luke Myatt 1/13
Liam Wishart 3 catches, Jake Rigby 2 catches and 1 runout, Lachie Nixon 1 catch, Nathan , 1 catch
The big day started to plan with Jake winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Our first mini victory
for the day was seeing Somie captains shoulders slump when we won the toss. Hinde and Wishart
started off beautifully looking in complete control until Wishy made a slight error and was caught in
front, LBW for 11. Paddy came in (after a magnificent ton in the seniors the previous day) and also
looked solid until a leading edge back to the bowler saw him dismissed for 1. Our innings could have
gone either way at this stage but Jake Rigby and Lachie Hinde consolidated with a magnificent 67 run
partnership. The running between the wickets was excellent, and the 2 boys played to their
strengths picking off ones & twos at will. Hinde returned to form when it counted with an excellent
38. Aves came in to join Jake and they continued on their way lifting the run rate with run a ball 40
run partnership. Jake was eventually dismissed for a magnificent 54. Aves continued to try and score
quick runs and was dismissed for an important 22. With only a few overs to go the boys had a bit of a
lash but didn't go all our way and we were dismissed for 156. One of the highlights at the end was
Nath scoring his first run ever (well done Nath). 156 was a more than competitive score and an
excellent first half of the game.
Somerville had a strong batting line up and averaged 180 plus for the year. They started reasonably
well putting on 20 from 6 overs when one of the many special moments of the game occurred.
Hinde bowling with good zip got one to bounce and take the edge which flew low and sharp to
Dozers right who grasped it cleanly with both hands, a brilliant catch that set the tone for the rest of
the day. A couple of runs later Jake got the crucial wicket of the top run scorer in their Semi Final.
Enter the opposition captain who had been fairly vocal towards our batsmen all morning and fairly
vocal to his supporters about his own performance (he took 5 fa and was keen to let everyone
know). Jake caught him on the crease plumb in front first ball, and there was a pretty loud
celebration after that. Hinde bowled a quick short ball that was skied to Nath at square leg who took
the catch. Jake produced a brilliant piece of fielding with a direct hit from cover that saw them
reeling at 5/23. A small partnership frustrated us for a little while before Luke Frith grabbed a couple
of wickets and Luke Myatt took 1 and the game was all but over. Max Skelly was brilliant in the field,
moving as quickly and fielding everything as cleanly as I've ever seen him. Wishy was his usual
fantastic self behind the stumps with 3 catches, Declan Albert bowled beautifully without luck. Aves
probably bowled his best spell of the year, although he didn't get a wicket his consistent line and
length was a pleasure to watch. Frithy was excellent with the ball, as he has been all season and Luke
Myatt was again at his consistent best bowling full and straight. Liam Glennie was at his best getting
under the skin of opposition batsmen with his constant chat and a little bit of sledging. Hinde was
good again with the ball bagging 2 fa after his 5 fa in the Semi. The game was probably aptly finished
off with Jake taking the last wicket with a nick through to Wishy giving him 3 for the game.
A brilliant performance from a bunch of blokes who produced some unbelievable cricket in the Semi
and then stepped that up another notch in the Grand Final to completely dominate a very good
opposition. A day none of us will forget for a very long time.

TIM RIGBY got his third with LUKE FRITH, ADAM SALERNI and JOHN HILLE Jnr all getting their second

Also congrats to JASON HINDE who picked up his first senior bag on Saturday when he took 7/30
against Moorooduc in the firsts and helped them win their first match for the season- Jason’s figures
were 7.3 – 0 -7/30 with 4 bowled, 1 x lbw and 2 caught which all says pretty accurate bowling – AND
we hear he was absolutely legless in the wee small hours of Sunday morning (like father like son).
Congrats to IAN MILLER who made 60 in the fourths and STEVE O’DONNELL who scored 55 in the
2nds.
Congrats also go to JOSH DeGREGORIO who played his 50th match for the club in our 3rds during Rd
