Club (General) meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Old Caversham Racetrack
(Harrow Road, Caversham- see link for map on homepage) at 8 pm.
The Club was formed in 1980 and the objectives of the Club are:
The preservation and regular usage of Historic Competition Road Racing Motor Cycles & Sidecars in Western
Australia and to promote historic motor sport.
The Club is affiliated with the controlling body of motor cycle sport - Motorcycling Australia.
All events conducted by the Club are done so under the authority of MWA and the General Competition Rules
(GCRs) of Motorcycling Australia. Membership is open to anyone interested in historic motor cycles.
Ownership of an eligible machine is not a prerequisite.

COLLIE WEEKEND 9-10 MAY ROUND 2 - Annie Tregger
Anyone who's ever camped at Collie knows the meaning of COLD so we took enough winter gear to
survive a trip to Antarctica. In fact, the cold wasn't so bad, thanks to Travis who built a huge fire for us to
sit around, dragging in the odd tree from time to time when the blaze looked a bit low. No danger of anyone
stealing the firewood as Travis was the only one who could lift it.
Saturday saw an enthusiastic roll-up, including our Clerk of Course for Sunday, Steve McQueen, who had
a ball on track on his 250 Motard.
There were some pretty full grids on Sunday, too, with eleven Juniors keeping Bob and Rob busy, but a
disappointing turn-out of the older bikes, with only one P2 and three P3 solos (thanks to those who did
bring out their old bikes). On the positive side, we had no less than ten sidecars competing (no, of course
I'm not biased). When Zane Mattaboni didn't show up to passenger for Dad, a certain Mr Tony Logan
stepped into the breach and couldn't keep the grin off his face for the rest of the day. Do we have another
embryo sidecar rider in our midst??
There were a couple of offs, the main one being Tony Hynes, who broke a collarbone trying to avoid a
collision. Wishing you a quick recovery, Tony.
Bob Humphreys was riding Marno's new bike - all was going well until the bike stopped at the start line.
Investigations have since revealed a seized camshaft.
Sunday ran very smoothly thanks to Steve and our Steward, Trevor Newman, both of whom did an excellent
job. Lee was back in the saddle as Chief Flag Marshal - thanks, Lee. And, as always, thanks to our wonderful
Race Secretary, Carrie Gardner.
So, Round 2 is done and dusted - Round 3 is at Barbagallo on 7 June. Maybe I'll just leave the cold weather
gear in the van .......

2015 BROADFORD BONANZA & VICTORIAN STATE TITLES - Annie Tregger
The theme of this year's Bonanza was Rickman Metisse and the 50th Anniversary of Bathhurst, so there
were a number of Rickmans on display (see photos), along with the usual line-up of Classic Beauty.
Eastern States racing identity Ken Lucas was there with no less than three genuine Manx Norton sidecar
outfits, plus an array of about ten Manx Norton solos, G50's and Triumphs. A couple of the locals got to
ride one of the outfits on track (lucky beggars) but as these are original machines they have open valve
gear and so rider, passenger and chair came back completely covered with oil - I don't know how the
passenger managed to stay on board!
The weather for both events was absolutely perfect (I didn't think Broadford weather ever stayed the same
for more than a couple of hours).
A "must do" for Saturday, late afternoon, is the Speedway Spectacular and this year did not disappoint,
with Vincent sidecars and JAP solos keeping us all entertained. Oh, and there were some rice-burning
things on track as well.
The following weekend we were back at Broadford for the Victorian Historic Titles, hosted by the HMRAV.
We were the only HCMC members competing but Tom and Jay Gill were there to cheer us on and it's
always good to meet up with "the usual suspects" from across the paddock.
One of the most important reasons for the trip is the strong field of Period 3 sidecars which, sadly, are not
in evidence in WA. Broadford is such a wonderful track for the old beasts and puttering around with a bunch
of P3's is really something to look forward to.
This year we were lucky enough to get third in our class and even managed to win the handicap (must have
been the following wind). All in all, a fantastic couple of weekends and we're looking forward to the Nationals
at Mallala in October.

STOLEN CBR400
Hi Mike,
Just hoping you could put a classified ad up on my behalf warning club members to look out for stolen
motorcycles, in particular a CBR400 that was stolen in Kelmscott last year. The police haven't turned anything
up and neither have ocal wreckers, one of whom suggested the bike ay have been stolen to use as a track
machine. It was a CBR400rr NC29, the one with the cranked frame, no doubt if it is being raced the fairing
will have been swapped for a race unit but the tank and wheels were black with blue accents: rim strips on
the wheels and the tip of a blue flame on the tank.
I will be able to identify the vehicle by a wiring mod made I made behind the dash. If a club member has
bought the vehicle then they may also have had to replace a plug cap that was aftermarket and very leaky
in the rain.

This was my third CBR400, I had to leave my last one in the UK when I returned to Australia (I'd only had
it 6 months) and I'd planned to keep this one until it became an heirloom so it's theft was heartbreaking.

ALBANY TT PICS - SOME IDENTIFIED - Scott Matheson
The photos printed in last months mag have been identified as being taken at the 1968 Australian Motorcycle
TT thanks to a couple of gentlemen from the Albany Motor Cycle Club. Even better than that they scanned
an original programme which they sent to me.
I can now identify most riders and what bikes they are on. The event consisted of the Australian Senior
TT, Australian Unlimited TT, both run over 10 laps, and the Australian Senior Sidecar TT run over 5 laps.
Many of the same riders and bikes ran in both the Senior and Unlimited TT's.
The meeting attracted a strong contingent from WA's clubs including the MCRC, Collie, LWMCC, BSA, AJS
and Albany MCC clubs plus riders from NSW, Victoria and SA. Interestingly there were three Vincent and
one Manx Norton sidecar entered by WA riders so where are they now and why aren't they out on the track?
Anyway to put names and makes to men and machines for the three photos printed last month.

?? Looks like a Honda to me, 3 entered, a 250, 350 and a 450.
So far these photos and the associated programme are the only historic information to surface. I was totally
surprised that someone was able to provide me with a 1968 programme which allows me to give some
meaning to the photos. There are about 20 photos in all and I will at some stage get these onto the internet.
I am sure that there are people out there who used to race who will have similar photos and race programs
tucked away in a draw that just need to be asked the question. So please ask your Dad, Grandfather,
Uncle or Mother if they have any photos of riders/racing or race programs that they would be happy to dig
out. If you want I can come to you or them to chat and scan any information. I just need to be provided
tea, take it black with no sugar.

Park in Narrogin on the 30 and 31st May 2015. It makes an ideal destination to head to over the long
weekend to experience the sights and sounds of Vintage Motocross. Spectator entry is free and there
are canteen facilities for breakfast and lunch on site. A variety of classes will be there both Solo and
