APRIL’S SANDBAG CHALLENGE
BEERS ON THE BOARDWALK
DISCOVER NEWS THIS MONTH
BEERS ON THE BOARDWALK
Beers on the boardwalk are sure to lure crowds at this month’s
harbourfront festival.
The Boardwalk Beer Festival will feature a wide range of appealing
pilsners, hoppy pale ales, refreshing ciders and dry stouts from 20 craft
breweries and cider makers.
Sensational food will also be showcased at a range of stalls along the
promenade. Each stall will see chefs and brewers working together to
match the perfect foodie flavours to the right drop of ale. A token
system will be in place to purchase tasting paddles and food.
Tickets to the event cost $45 and include a tasting glass, a festival cap,
15 craft beer tokens, a meal token and vouchers to participating
restaurants.
The day of food, fun and flavours will be held on Saturday, April 18
from 12pm to 5.30pm.

LEST WE
FORGET
A field of crosses and poppies will be laid outside the Newcastle
Museum this ANZAC Day to honour the lives of men and women
lost at war.
Building on last year’s collection of 750 crosses, Newcastle Museum
will invite the community to send in the names of loved ones to add
to the field of remembrance.
To have names added to crosses you can send an email to
swillcox@ncc.nsw.gov.au by April 17 with the serviceman or women’s
name, dates of service or the conflict, rank, serial number and unit.
People are also encouraged to send in a copy of any photographs
they may have.
In addition the museum will showcase war memorabilia in a separate
exhibition called Newcastle on the World Stage.
PAIRING FOOD AND WINE
Quality drops from the Barossa Valley will be showcased at Nagisa
when it hosts a five-course wine dinner on Wednesday, April 22.
Nagisa’s head chef Chris Schofield has carefully crafted a delectable
menu to match wines from well-known and nationally acclaimed
wine label Peter Lehmann Wines. The restaurant will host Peter
Lehmann’s Director of Sales Michael Every as guest speaker, who
will be on-hand to answer any questions from guests.
There will be two sittings on the evening – 6pm and 8pm. The menu
boats a variety of delicious flavours with grilled kingfish, persimmon
stuffed roast pork loin, ginger and houjicha braised duck breast and
lightly chargrilled Wagyu scotch fillet.
The wine and food pairing costs $110 and includes a five-course
dinner with matching wines.
