The Charity
Hope for Children (HOPE) is a UK based charity which works towards a world
where children’s rights are realised and they can reach their full potential. We
actively identify disadvantaged children and communities by working with local
partners. Through empowering, collaborating and learning together we aim to
build a sustainable future for the children and communities we serve. Our focus is
to reach as many children as we can and deliver to them the childhood every child
deserves.
Job Summary
The Student Fundraising Officer (SFO) will be required to make a significant
contribution to the development of fundraising and volunteering within Hope for
Children’s student programme. He/she will nurture and develop working
relationships with universities and RAGs, achieving required targets in each area.
Developing new business and Your Uni, Their Lives (YUTL) will be another integral
part of the role. Finally, we want the SFO to have an active role in building Hope
for Children’s reputation in the university sector, and looking at new ways to
further enhance our standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities

To support with the development, implementation and execution of YUTL,
including fundraising activities, events, the ambassador programme, and
internships.
To generate new income from and raise awareness within the student
population.
To develop new relationships with universities and maintain and grow
existing YUTL partnerships.

To support and develop the ‘HOPE Ambassadors’ including appraisal,
training and accreditation.
To be responsible through the Student Fundraising Manager for the
achievement of set income targets.
Student Fundraising & YUTL Development

To represent HOPE to students, student groups, student unions and
university staff with responsibility for communicating HOPE & YUTL’s
brand and its values.
To continue existing and develop new long term relationships with RAG
Committees and other student fundraising groups.
To identify, engage and develop relationships with new fundraising
supporters and fundraising groups.
To take a lead on all YUTL social media networks communications, and
support HOPE communications where appropriate.
To provide an operational lead on individual and large scale street
ccollections.
To support with the organisation and implementation of any Mega Raid
events.
To build long term relationships with Universities and attend events and
information evenings.
To build relationships with student fundraisers and attend on-campus
fundraising workshops.
To contribute to innovative communications targeted at student
fundraisers in line with our overarching marketing plan.
Ensure that agreed activity plans and income targets are achieved, whilst
maintaining expenditure within budget.
To contribute effectively to team meetings, discussions and decision
making; and attend training as required.
To monitor risk assessments to identify any health and safety issues.
To represent all aspects of HOPE’s work appropriately and professionally,
to external and internal contacts.

To develop and maintain the Student Fundraising Handbook and ensure all
student supporters adhere to operational procedures.
To develop an in-house ambassador training programme to ensure
ambassadors can effectively represent HOPE.
To respond to staff queries with timely and accurate information.

To deal with problems from student fundraisers and offer first hand
support.
You will support staff in monitoring and measuring the performance of
fundraisers.
Child Safeguarding
•

To read and personally comply with all aspects of HOPE’s Child
Safeguarding Policy and to attend group or individual trainings, inductions
on the same.
To report promptly any child safeguarding issue that you become aware of
in the course of your work at HOPE as per Hope’s Child Safeguarding
Policy.
Additional Tasks

All other reasonable duties as required by the Student Fundraising Manager
in the delivery of this post.
