UCHI Call for Proposals
SEED MONEY AWARDS: 2015-16
The University of Connecticut Humanities Institute, as part of
its Academic Plan-funded project on Public Discourse, is offering
competitive seed money for faculty initiatives in the humanities that
seek to research the nature of, and barriers to, meaningful public discourse. The projects should ultimately aim to connect research to
practice and, where appropriate, to establish lasting and sustainable
infrastructure for the promotion of meaningful public discourse.
Funding is up to $10,000 per project. The number of awards will be
determined by the merit and scope of proposed projects. Potential
areas of funding interest include the following (this list is by no means
exhaustive):

Public discourse on divisive social issues
Historical roots of various barriers to meaningful public discourse
Deliberative democracy
Social justice
Civil discourse, its practice, limits and critics
Theory-practice partnerships for engaged research
