SEX-ESTEEM: DEVELOPING SEXUALITY CONFIDENCE Join us for a fun and unique way to learn about sexuality that provides educational opportunities for BOTH adults with a developmental disability and the staff who support them LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGIES WILL INCLUDE 1. Providing opportunities to discuss sexuality in an open and humorous way using visual, tactile and interactive learning strategies 2. Fostering communication about sexuality and relationships between adults with a developmental disability and the people who support them 3. Providing everyone with skills and materials to promote healthy sexuality 4. Tools required to respond to sexual assault disclosure that fit with Regulation 299/10 Date: Thursday April 16th, 2015 AND Thursday April 23rd, 2015 Time: 8:30am-4:00pm Location: Middlesex County Building, 399 Ridout Street North London, ON Cost: $35.00 Includes Lunch and Snacks Basic understanding of sexuality is a prerequisite to attend this more advanced decision-making and confidence-building educational opportunity. Each adult with a developmental disability must be accompanied by an agency support person. Together they will form teams in a survivor mode forum that playfully encourages everyone to “Outwit, Outplay and Outlaugh” other participants to develop sexuality confidence. Topics Include: Consent and Boundaries Relationships Dating Street Smarts Sexually Transmitted Infections Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Issues Sexual Assault Responding To Sexual Assault Disclosure Some comments from last year’s participants on what they liked: “Very relaxed environment.” “The level of interaction- is important for some individuals to retain information.” “Wide range of topics covered.” This workshop is not appropriate for individuals who are known sex offenders. All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
