John L. Green Award
for Excellence in Business Education
The John L. Green Award for Excellence in Business Education
honors individuals who have made significant contributions that
advance the cause of academic quality in business education.
2015 Recipient:
Dr. Les Crall, Professor and Associate Dean of the School of
Business and Technology at Southwestern Oklahoma State
University in Weatherford, Oklahoma
Frank V. Mastrianna Education Leader of the Year Award
The Frank V. Mastrianna Education Leader of the Year Award
honors individuals who are exemplary higher education leaders
and who have made significant contributions to an institution of
higher education or a higher education organization.
2015 Recipient:
Dr. V.J. Byra Reddy, Professor in the College of Management
and Economics Studies, and Associate Vice President for
Academics and Accreditations at the University of Petroleum
and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun, India

Fourth Annual
Student Case-Study Competition
The IACBE’s New Expectations and Requirements for
Quality Assurance, Outcomes Assessment, and Reporting
This plenary session introduced the IACBE’s new expectations
and requirements for measuring and advancing academic
quality; for assessing student learning in business programs
and the operational effectiveness of academic business units;
and for developing acceptable outcomes assessment plans. In
addition, the IACBE’s new framework and processes for interim
reporting were presented.

The 2015 Annual Conference and
Assembly Meeting also featured the fourth
annual IACBE Student Case-Study
Competition focusing on business ethics.
The competition provided students with an
opportunity to showcase their abilities to
analyze a case, to identify and discuss recommendations for
ethical action, and to “think on their feet.”
The competition required students to (1) work as members of a
team, (2) collect and analyze data, and (3) effectively present case
information and answer questions in a clear, concise, and
professional manner.
First-, second-, and third-place teams were selected based on the
combined scores from four rounds of presentations over two days
of competition. The first-place team was awarded a $1,000
scholarship generously sponsored by Bloomberg Businessweek.

The final-round case – entitled “Corporate Inversion: Profitable,
but Patriotic?” – was written by Dr. Paul Melendez, Assistant
Dean of Executive Education, Founder of the Center for
Leadership Ethics, and Professor of Practice in Management
and Organizations in the Eller College of Management at the
University of Arizona, and was graciously provided to the
IACBE by the university’s Eller Center for Leadership Ethics.
