Most of the points noted in this paper belong to the semantic or lexical aspect of the language contact. The majority of borrowed Malay loanword in Tamil translation texts are used without any meaning shift by the Tamil native speakers. However, a few words exhibit some interferences in their original meaning when they are used in the recipient language. Discussing these words individually would illustrate the point clearly.
