1.4 About Wuhan
Wuhan, where the Yangtze River, the third largest river in the world, meets with its largest
branch, the Han River, boasts various lakes and rivers intertwining with each other. Its total water
area reaches 2217.6 km2, one fourth of the total area of Wuhan, therefore Wuhan is also known as
the River City from ancient times.
Wuhan enjoys a total area of 8494.41 km2, governing 7 downtown districts and 6 suburban
districts with the number of permanent residents reaching 10.22 million. Wuhan enjoys a long
history, with ancestors living and multiplying on this great land 3500 years ago.
Wuhan is also famous for its fascinating natural scenery. With a total forest of 147,000
hectares, Wuhan enjoys a forest coverage of 27.51%. It is also renowned as the “New Flower
City”, with flowers in blossom all year around in its 74 parks. Wuhan, boasting 166 lakes and a
water area of 25% of its total, is renowned as the “oriental Venice” and “A City of Hundred
Lakes”.
Wuhan boasts convenient transportation. It is an important transportation hub in China, with
air, expressway and high speed railway network covering the whole country.

2. TRAVEL AND OFFICIAL HOTELS
2.1 Arrival
2.1.1 Entry
Wuhan Tianhe Airport will be the terminal airport for the championships. If the participating
teams are unable to take direct flights to Wuhan, the following airports can serve as transfers.

Hongkong International Airport
Wuhan Tianhe Airport is about 40 km away from the competition venue and the official
hotels, about 1 hour drive. The LOC will receive and see off all teams at the airport. If
participating teams arrive before June 1st or leave after June 8th, shall have to inform the LOC in
advance so that special arrangements can be made.
2.1.2 Visa
 Scan or Photocopy of the passport shall be sent via e-mail 30 days before the event
(passport validity should be more than 6 months).
 Please note if the embassy that you apply to need the original visa invitation letter,
usually, we will send you e-mails.
 If the visa application location is different from the place of birth on the passport, work
certificate or residential certificate is needed.
2.1.3 Volunteers for Teams
Volunteers will be appointed to each team as liaison person.
2.2 Accreditation Card
Accreditation card will be prepared in advance by LOC. Please wear the card all time during
the championships. The card will distribute upon your arrival.
In certain areas, you will also need your personal identification for special access.
2.3 Accommodation
2.3.1 Headquarter Hotel
The AAA headquarter hotel is Marco Polo Hotel Wuhan
All AAA council members, guests, congress delegates, IAAF guests and ITOs will
accommodated in this hotel.
2.3.2 Athletes' Hotel
The following hotels are to accommodate the athletes and team officials:

2.3.3 Accommodation Payment
If you need the room before the informed check-in time or after the informed check-out time,
you will have to cover the expenses on your own. You can contact relevant staff members of the
LOC for help. Payments could be accepted by Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard) or cash (RMB/USD
only).
2.3.4 Meals
Hotel restaurant will serve 3 meals a day. by showing your accreditation card and the meal

Considering of different ethnic groups and cultures in Asian, as well as the varied catering
habits, buffet will be severed in the hotel.
2.3.5 Network
Internet access is available in all designated hotels.
2.3.6 Fitness Equipment
Fitness training facilities is available in the headquarter hotel and the athletes' hotels.
2.3.7 Meeting Room Reservation
Reservation of meeting rooms can be made by team officials in your hotel. at your expense.
2.4 Transportation
The LOC will meet or see off all teams and officials at the airport when their arrival and
departure. During the competition, shuttle bus will be arranged from the hotel to the competition
site or the training ground. The shuttle bus timetable will be published at the information desk.
3. COMPETITION INFORMATION
3.1 Date
The 21st Asian Athletics Championships Wuhan 2015 will be held in Wuhan Sports Center
from June 3rd-7th, 2015.
3.2 Competition Venue
3.2.1 Track & Field
The stadium of Wuhan Sports Center will be the competition venue for track & field.
The stadium was completed in August, 2000, with a total construction space of 80,445 m2.
There are 8 standard 400m track lanes with 9 straight lanes , the surface of which is the Italian
Mondotrack approved by the International Olympic Committee.
3.2.2 Warm-up Ground
The Warm-up ground is located close to the competition venue, consisting of a standard
athletic training field and a throwing field. After warming up, athletes can enter the FOP through
the underground passage.
3.3 Competition Events
There are a total of 42 events in the 21st Asian Athletics Championships Wuhan 2015, (21
for men and 21 for women).

3.4 Competition Schedule

3.5 Eligibility
Only competitors of AAA member federation and complying with the Constitution and
Rules of the AAA are entitled to participate in the 21st Asian Athletics Championships Wuhan
2015.
3.5.1 Individual Event
Each member Federation may enter two (2) competitors for each individual event; however the
Host Country may enter maximum three (3) competitors for each individual event.
3.5.2 Team Event
(1) Each member federation may enter one (1) team (maximum 6 athletes) for each relay
event.
(2)Once the team entered the competition, only two (2) additional athletes may take part
in subsequent rounds as substitutes. The substitutes can only be selected from the list of entered
athletes and the relay order list shall be submitted to the TIC one hour before the call for relay.
3.6 Entry
3.6.1 Preliminary Entry (by number)
The preliminary entry forms of all participating teams shall be submitted to the AAA and the
LOC before March 30th 2015.
3.6.2 Final Entry (by name)
The final entry forms of all participating teams shall be submitted to the AAA and the LOC
before local time 24:00, May 15th 2015. After the final entry deadline, no additions or changes of
events between the athletes already entered are allowed. Any changes must be confirmed before
the technical meeting.
3.6.3 Final Confirmation
Official representatives of participating team must submit the final confirmation for the
first day events, at the Technical Meeting to be held on June 2nd,2015 at 10:00 AM and
subsequently by not later than 10:00 AM on the day prior to the 2nd day, 3rd day, 4th day and
5th day of competition.
3.7 Competition Rules & Regulations
3.7.1 The championships shall be held in accordance with the current IAAF Rules. In the
event of any divergence over the interpretation of the rules, the English version shall prevail. Any
unforeseen incidents not covered by the Rules shall be resolved in accordance with the AAA and
IAAF Constitution & Rules
3.7.2 The start and successive heights of the bar in high jump, pole vault, men’s decathlon
and women’s heptathlon events will be decided by the Technical delegates at the
Technical meeting before the competition.

Athletes are identified by their accreditation card and bib . Athletes’ accreditation card will
be collected by Call Room Judges and will be returned at the Post Event Control Center.
3.8 IMPLEMENTS AND EQUIPMENT
All implements and equipment, which LOC provides for the competitions, training, warming
up shall conform to IAAF Rules 2014-2015. No personal implements can be used for
competition except the vaulting poles.
If any athlete wants to use any other brand of IAAF approved implements other than
provided by the LOC, he/she should pass the implement to the Technical Committee at least at
17:00 on the day before the competition for checking purposes. If approved, such implements
will be included in the general pool of implements and it would be available for use by any other
competitor who wants to use it.
3.9 MEDICAL CONTROL
3.9.1 Doping Control
The doping control will be carried out in accordance with the IAAF Rules.
3.10 MANAGEMENT
3.10.1 Competition Management
The Organizing Committee of the 21st Asian Athletics Championships Wuhan 2015 shall be
responsible for the organization and management of this championships under the guidance
of AAA,
3.10.2 Technical Officials
(1)All events will be officiated by the technical officials approved by the Organizing
Committee of the Championships.
(2)AAA will appoint 8 technical delegates (ATO/ITO) for the competition organization of
the Asian Athletics Championships.
3. 10.3 Protest
(1)In accordance with the IAAF Rule 119, a Jury of Appeal shall be appointed by and will
comprise the members of the AAA Council.
(2) Protests shall be processed according to IAAF Rule 146. Protests concerning the result or
conduct of an event must be made within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the result of
that event. Any protest shall, in the first instance, be made orally to the Referee by the athlete
himself or by someone acting on his behalf.
(3) An appeal to the Jury of Appeal must be made within 30 minutes of the official
announcement of the decision made by the Referee, in writing on the official forms, signed by a
responsible official on behalf of the athlete, and shall be accompanied by a deposit of US$100, or
its equivalent calculated at the current rate of exchange at any bank in China, which will be
forfeited if the protest is not upheld.
(4)All appeals must be submitted to the Main Stadium TIC, from where they will be
immediately forwarded to the Secretary of the Jury of Appeal.
3.10.4 OUTFIT
(1) Team Clothing
Competitors are required to wear the official uniform of their delegations (as registered at the
TIC), which must conform to the latest version of the IAAF Competition Rules and the current
IAAF Advertising Regulations.
Each Team Manager must present and register their team’s complete uniform in all its
variations at the TIC. Once the uniform has been registered, the judges will inspect the athletes’
clothing at the Call Room.
Only the officially registered uniform will be approved for use when competing in the
competition. The Lap of Honor and Medal Ceremonies are considered as part of the competition.
(2) Bib Numbers
The bib numbers will be distributed at the Technical Meeting by the LOC. Each athlete will
receive a total of four (4) bib numbers with safety pins for each athlete taking part in the
competition: two (2) bib numbers for their competition vest, one (1) for their track suit and one (1)
for their bag. These bib numbers must not be cut, folded or obscured in any way.
All competitors must display the bib numbers on their chest and back, except in the High
Jump and Pole Vault events, where one (1) bib number only may be worn on either the chest or
the back.
Athletes taking part in the track events will also be given two (2) adhesive hip numbers in
Final Call Room before entering into the FOP. The hip numbers must be fixed to both sides of
their shorts or upper legs.
For the Combined Events, the leading athlete after each event will be given a special bib
number to be worn on his/her chest, which shows the current first ranking athlete. Athletes
competing in the last heat of the 800m and 1500m in the Combined Events will be given a
separate number to be worn on their chest, indicating their position in the competition before the
last event. The distribution of these special bibs will take place at the Combined Events Rest
Room and will be managed by the Combined Events Referee.
3.11 COMMENDATION
3.11.1 Awarding Ceremonies
The Awarding Ceremonies will be held, if possible, after the completion of each event.
Participants receiving awards must wear their official team uniform.
3.11.2 Prizes
The prizes for the athletics competition will be as follows:

First Place
: Gold medal and diploma.
Second Place
: Silver medal and diploma.
Third Place
: Bronze medal and diploma.
Fourth to Eighth
Places
: Diploma only.
TEAM EVENTS
First Place
: Gold Medal and diploma for each real participating
member of the winning team.
Second Place
: Silver medal and diploma for each real participating
member of the team finishing second.
Third Place
: Bronze medal and diploma for each real participating
member of the team finishing third.
Fourth to Eighth
Places
: Diploma for each real participating members of teams
placed in each event.
3.12 Technical Meeting
Technical Meeting will be held on 10:00 AM, June 2nd, 2015. A maximum of two (2)
official representatives from each Association or Federation may attend. Questions concerning
organization of the events will be addressed. An instruction brochure will be distributed to the
team managers before the meeting.
4. Service at the Venue
4.1 Venue (Seats)
All participating teams are allowed to watch the matches with accredidations
4.2 Seats for Field Coaches
A certain amount of seats will be reserved on a daily basis for coaches whose teams will
participate in the field events. For all member associations, one coach per one participating athlete
can be allowed to the coach seats while two coaches per one athlete participating in the decathlon
and the heptathlon can be allowed.
4.3 Warm-up Area
During the match, the warm-up area next to the official FOP can still be used. Opening Hours:
07:30 - One Hour after the match
4.4 Warm-up Ground
The warm-up area will open from June 1st -7th.
Opening Hours: June 2nd- 3rd 9:00 ~ 19:00
June 4th 7:30 ~ One Hour after the match
Warm-up at the main venue on June 3rd can only be carried out in two hours from 10:00 to
12:00 after the starters finish their practice.
4.5 Medical Services
The LOC will set up medical service and first-aid centers at the hotel and the venue. The
LOC will provide help to all participants. If any help is needed at the Headquarter Hotel or the
Athletes' Hotel, please contact the service desk. When the hotel service desk is closed, please
contact the front desk of the hotel. If any help is needed at the venue, please contact the medical
station. In the event of severe illness, neighboring hospitals will be at hand. Please note, except for
the illness requiring immediate first-aid at site, the team delegates shall cover the extra expenses
incurred at the hospital. Therefore, we hereby strongly recommend the teams to apply for their
own medical and travel insurance.
4.6 Supply of Ice Cubes
4KG of ice will be available for every participating teams at the venue. If extra ice cubes are
needed, the team shall inform the LOC of such requirement at least one day in advance and the
extra cost incurred shall be borne by the team in question.
5 Doping Control
Doping Control will be carried out according to relevant rules of the IAAF. If a new national
record is created by your athlete or your relay team, you will have to apply for a doping test. Such
application shall be made to the TIC at the venue once the match finishes. Your association shall
pay $300 for the urinalysis and $550 for the EPO test.
Every team can check at the TIC whether its team members will have to take a doping test. If a
doping test is needed, the team official shall accompany the athlete to the TIC for a special access
card.
6. Insurance
All associations are required to confirm their travel and medical insurance coverage before
leaving for China, just in case.
7. APPROVAL OF THE HANDBOOK FOR PARTICIPATING TEAMS
The Handbook for Participating Teams has been approved by the AAA.
