Just crack your windows and the chirping birds will wake you bright and early. Space is still available for our Oak Lane Hutterite Colony trip on May 5. Mr. Wipf at the colonies needs a final number. Plans are being finalized for an early summer Mystery Trip June 10-11. This adventure offers something for everyone. Of course, good dining is always a must. We have even included a family friendly Broadway musical for Wednesday evening. You will be entertained from dawn to dusk! Sign up soon so that we can secure tickets. Panama Canal Cruise Iowa State Bank along with Siouxland Travel and Tours has scheduled a Panama Canal Cruise for February 4-15, 2016 on Holland America’s ms Zuiderdam. We will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, FL and cruise the Caribbean with ports of call such as the Bahamas, Colombia, Aruba, Curacao, and Costa Rica. Entering the Panama Canal, a day will be spent cruising the spectacular waterway and Gatun Lake before exiting and stopping in Colon, Panama. Cost is $3499.00 for an inside cabin, $3799.00 for an outside cabin, and $3999.00 for a balcony cabin. Prices are per person based on double occupancy. A refundable deposit of $500 is due July 15. Trip cancellation/interruption insurance may be purchased at an additional cost. UPCOMING EVENTS May 5 Oak Lane Hutterite Colony Following a fast food breakfast en route, we are visiting the Oak Lane Colony near Alexandria, SD. Colony manager John Wipf will take us on a driving tour of the colony plus a walking tour of the kitchen will be followed by a hearty lunch. Welcoming questions about the Oak Lane Colony and the Hutterite beliefs, John added that he had a special surprise for everyone. You will find this a very interesting and enlightening tour. We will stop for a guided tour at the Old Courthouse Museum in Sioux Falls with a light dinner following. Cost of this all-inclusive day trip is $105.00 due now. Departure times at the usual pick up sites are Sheldon at 6 a.m., Orange City at 6:30 a.m. and Hull at 7:00 a.m. We will arrive home by early evening. May 14, 15 & 16 Orange City Tulip Festival Each year at tulip time it is Orange City’s good fortune and great pleasure to welcome thousands of visitors from near and far. What began in 1936 as a small celebration of Orange City’s Dutch heritage has led to 75 years of what is now known as the Tulip Festival. The festival features music and dancing by children and adults in authentic Dutch costumes, two daily parades, a carnival midway, Dutch delicacies, delicious food, plus thousands of tulips. The annual nightly musical production is Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins.” May 25 Memorial Day Memorial Day is a day set aside to celebrate and honor United States men and women who have died serving their country in the military. June 1-5 Rocky Mountain High Due to a low number of traveler interest, we have found it necessary to cancel our Colorado trip in June. June 10-11 Summer Mystery Trip It is time once again to venture out to places unknown. Last year we headed south to the Leavenworth and Atchison, Kansas areas. Every one was allowed in Fort Leavenworth, and no one was left behind in the fort. We travel with a clean-cut well behaved group! Where will this year take us? Our next stop will be at ISB in Orange City with Ireton, Paullina and Remsen at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will soon follow. But which direction will our Reading Bus Lines driver take us? Probably not north. But the destination sites are endless. We will not guarantee that you have not visited this place before, only that you will experience new adventures. The first actual trip was in late March of 1990 to the Ice Capades in Sioux City. Starting with 88 members, the club has grown to over 3000. This summer we will celebrate our 25th Anniversary with activities to be announced.
