Volunteer Opportunity: iSisters Technology Mentoring We currently have an opportunity for: Treasurer of the Board of Directors iSisters Technology Mentoring Inc. is a Canadian charitable organization, established 14 years ago, which works through strategic community-based partnerships to deliver free technology learning programs to women who would otherwise be unable to access such services. Most of our learners are women in need, who have little or no experience with technology. We aim to empower these women, build their confidence and self-esteem, and give them a greater voice. We increase our students’ opportunities and chances to find employment, and improve their lives. We are passionate and committed to: Being Learner Focused Being Respectful Excellence Being Community Oriented Being Accountable Key Responsibilities: The officer assigned the primary responsibility of overseeing the management and reporting of the organization’s finance. Attend, and participate in, monthly Board meetings as a voting member. Ensure accounting is completed in accordance with GAAP guidelines and that internal controls are in place. Ensure accurate accounts of Board receipts and disbursements for Board-related expenditures. Provide direction for the budget. Serve as Chair the Finance Committee. Act as signing officer for cheques and other documents. Provide financial guidance to the ED, bookkeeper, Chair and Board of Directors. Oversee the development and observation of the organization's financial policies. Keep the board regularly informed of key financial events, trends, concerns, and assessment of fiscal health. Qualifications: Personal commitment to, and belief in, the purpose of iSisters, including its mission, vision and core values Accounting designation (CPA, CA/CMA/CGA) Experience in Finance Strong organizational skills Strong strategic thinking Previous experience on a Board of Directors an asset Previous experience in a Treasurer role an asset Previous experience in a Not-for-Profit organization is an asset Details: This is a volunteer Board position.
