Jackson Notes Home 2.12.2015

A few reminders:!
!
!
• It is very important that students are in school and on time (classes
begin at 8:50) every day. We don’t want them to miss instruction,
assessments or any of the end-of-the-year excitement we have
planned!"
• Spring Carnival Raffle Baskets donations are due today. Class
themes have been sent home in Thursday folders and all donations
are welcome! "
• Friday, May 8th - NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS – Staff
Professional Learning & Kindergarten visits!"
• Kids Against Hunger news...WE JUST REACHED OUR GOAL
OF $5000! Thanks to all in the wonderful Jackson community for
your generous and caring spirits. Wear your KAH shirt with pride
on Wednesday May 13 and again on packing day May 19. If you
would like to order a shirt, last chance orders will be placed next
Wednesday."
• Jackson students continue to have a chance to participate in a
Skipper Jump Rope Camp Preview on Tuesday May 12th from
4-5pm. Program is free to all students K-5th. Students need to be
able to jump five times in a row. Sign up link is below:"

• Our Spring Carnival is just 8 days away!

end of the day, May 7, 2015. If you need your art for
Mother’s Day, please contact me on Thursday by
phone—389-0880 or email—
carriekbryner@aol.com. I will make arrangements
for you to get it on Friday. I will be out of town
beginning Friday evening, so please contact me
Thursday if you need your order by Mother’s Day.
All other orders will be sent home the week of
May 11th!
thank you to everyone who participated in
this fundraiser!
!
!
A huge thank you goes out to all Jackson families for the
tremendous and generous support of our fundraiser. We
raised over $5,000.00 for packaging food on May 19th. Special
thanks to two families who each gave over 250 dollars (mostly due to their
generous children). Thanks to Bimm-Ridder for the awesome t-shirts and
incredible donation.
!
Wednesday May 13th will be a Kids Against Hunger t-shirt or Jackson
t-shirt day. We will have extra recesses at the end of the day to celebrate the
accomplishment of reaching our goal.
Tuesday, May 19th will be HAT DAY and JACKSON PRIDE DAY
for all adults and students. We will wear hats or hairnets during packing. We
will wear our Jackson t shirts or KAH shirts to show our support of Jackson
Elementary as a Kids Against Hunger packaging station.
Come to school to help us as we package the food.
All K-5 students will have a chance to work alongside KAH Iowa leaders Don
and Sandee Fields on May 19th in the gym. There are many jobs to do as part
of getting the food ready to be shipped to needy families. If you are free the
morning or afternoon of May 19th, please consider coming to school to help
us as we package the food that all those quarters bought! We need adult
volunteers from 9:05 to 3:40 that day. Please contact Connie Stusak at
cdstusak@gmail.com with your volunteer time. She will send you further
information and a link to a packing video so you have some knowledge
beforehand.
Once again, thank you so very much!
It is simply incredible to witness the generosity of the Jackson community!
Jackson students have been able to recognize that hunger is a world problem,
help unknown families find fullness through KAH food, and to be a part of a
cause where individuals truly DO make a difference.
What a gift you all have given….thank you for making our world a better
place.
!
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s
the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

SCRIP
In an effort to save paper, we will be including the
SCRIP order form in Thursday eFolders, where you can
print off a SCRIP form to send in with your order. You
can always look at the SCRIP form and email Lori
(lori_a_weber@hotmail.com) or I
(Cindy31470@aol.com) your order and we will process
from there. You will still need to send in a check/cash
with your child. As always, you can also refer to the
www.SHOPWITHSCRIP.com web page for additional
cards not offered on our order form.
We are once again going to be exploring some online
ordering/purchasing options. As the “Shop With SCRIP”
site changes, new ways of ordering have begun. We
will keep you posted with these exciting changes.
To date, we have a profit of $1,300 for the IMC. Let’s
keep that number climbing. Thank you for all of the
orders so far this year. $3,000 in new books was just
purchased for the library using SCRIP funds earned last
year. Watch for your child to bring one home.
You can print off the most current order form below.
