There are still many computers for students to utilize during the school day. There are 15 chrome books, 5 laptops and 5 ipads all available to be signed out for use in the library. As well there are several carts with devices on them throughout the school for classroom use. Panther hour is still run 4 nights a week after school. The presentation by Glenn Canning went well. Parent council money for next fall will once again be used to purchase planners for Gr. 9 students as well as fridge magnets for all students Grade 9-12 listing important school dates as well as parent council meetings. Final timetabling has begun. It is a lengthy process. There will 24 students chosen to attend the Muskoka Woods program with some of the feeder schools’ Grade 8 students from June1-3. Mr. John Orr, math teacher, has received one of 3 Apple Distinguished Educator awards for our board. LeeAnne to speak to Lori Baker again about Helping Hands project as there is some concern that we are late in the season to plant new flowers as there will be nobody available to tend to them as they start to grow. She will see if we are able to defer to the fall. A few parents may pull weeds prior to the end of the school year. The bridge in the courtyard has been fixed. All of the picnic tables needed to be removed as they were in very poor shape. Still some work to be done before it can be used. LeeAnne recently attended the Winston Churchill parent council meeting. They were very pleased that someone from the high school had reached out to their group. There will be a meeting June 2 for new members interested in the Booster Club. LeeAnne, Lisa, Carolyn and Tracy will work on an updated flyer highlighting what parent council is about as the current one is very outdated. There is one for the booster club that may be used as a guide. It may be given to students at registration to encourage parent involvement. School council meetings will still be the third Wednesday of every month excluding December, March and June. I wish you all a happy and safe summer.
