Engineering Supervisor
The Engineering Supervisor will supervises daily activities of a small mechanical engineering staff
that designs, improves, and documents our proprietary seafood processing systems distributed
worldwide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises mechanical engineering staff and activities involved in design, installation,
operation, maintenance, support and evaluation of equipment, and instrumentation for the
organization.
• Supervises day-to-day activities and performance of assigned personnel to maintain
appropriate task assignments and workloads while meeting production goals and safety
requirements.
• Oversees the performance of individual production work activities and the overall production
process. Recommends continual improvements.
• Supports career development opportunities for staff members including formal professional
and personal development sessions, cross training, stretch assignments and other educational
opportunities. • Reviews all products and projects assigned to the engineering department, ensures that all
projects are completed according to the schedule. • Assists in formulating and meeting company goals for product engineering
• Delegates tasks to other engineering employees.
• Directs and oversees all assigned projects. • Monitors all expenses to ensure that projects stay within budget. • Writes up reports on progress and activity within the engineering department. • Recruits, hires, and fires engineers as necessary. • Reviews all work completed by engineering staff, checking for errors and omissions. • Troubleshoots any problems within the engineering department. • Approves completed projects and products. Possesses solid background knowledge in math, science, and mechanical engineering. Manufacturing experience in sheet metal and or metal fabrication.
Demonstrates strong leadership skills. Has the ability to think creatively. Pays close attention to detail. Exhibits strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Communicates clearly and effectively to subordinate staff and to immediate supervisors. Establishes rapport with other subordinate employees to earn their trust and respect. Is capable of coaching employees when necessary. Is capable of translating engineering language into layman’s terms. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. • Several years of work experience in engineering-related field is required. • Previous managerial experience or managerial training is preferred.
