Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are pleased to announce an increase in this year’s scholarship award to $3,000, which will be presented to the winner at KALAGNY’s upcoming 29th Anniversary Gala on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Capitale in New York City. The scholarship will be given to the law student member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and support for KALAGNY and the Korean American community in Greater New York, and who exhibits dedication to the use of his or her legal knowledge and skills to further this commitment and support. The scholarship will be awarded based on merit. Criteria and eligibility requirements are as follows: 1. Applicant must be a law student dues-paying member of KALAGNY in good standing at the time of submission of the application. 2. Applicant must be a candidate for a J.D. in good standing at any A.B.A. accredited law school. All 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and 4Ls during the 2014-2015 academic year are eligible to apply. 3. Applicant must submit an essay of no more than 500 words detailing (a) applicant’s commitment to and support for the Korean American community in Greater New York, and (b) aspirations and plans to use his or her legal knowledge and skills to continue supporting the Korean American community in Greater New York after graduation from law school. 4. Applicant may be interviewed by one or more members of the KALAGNY Law Student Scholarship Committee. Applications that conform with the above requirements should be submitted electronically to kalagny@gmail.com with the subject line “Application for KALAGNY Law Student Scholarship” by the deadline of Wednesday, May 20, 2015, 11:59:59 PM, along with their phone number. The winner will notified by Friday, May 29, 2015, and the scholarship will be presented at KALAGNY’s 29th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Capitale in New York City. The scholarship winner will receive one complimentary ticket to attend the 29th Anniversary Gala. KALAGNY reserves the sole right to determine the winner. All applicants, by submitting an application, if chosen as the recipient, hereby consent to use of his/her name and photos for promotion of KALAGNY Law Student Scholarship Award.
