Birthed out of a vision to empower community youth, The Summit is designed to equip middle and high school youth to think critically about personal choices and future ambitions, emerging community health and wellness trends related to underage substance use/misuse, and the power community teens have individually and collectively to impact peers, family and community norms and the world by making a personal commitment to live Above the Influence. Teen attendees of the 2014 Youth Summit and members of the ATI-Kent County Youth Coalition Dream Team selected ‘We Are More’ as the 2015 conference theme. We Are More is an anthem of positive resistance to norms that suggest underage substance use is an inevitable rite of passage in every teen’s journey to adulthood. We Are More is a declaration of the collective power of this generation to drive change in our community, transform health and wellness 2 trends, and overcome pop culture messages that suggest substances like marijuana are not harmful. Ultimately this year’s theme speaks to Summit 2015’s goal of empowering and equipping every attendee to excel individually, lead socially, and revolutionize their families, schools, and community by living Above the Influence. e·vent lo·gis·tics noun / əˈvent ləˈjistiks/ Venue(s): Date: Time(s): Attendance: DeVos Place Convention Center [303 Monroe Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503] Friday, May 1, 2015 8 am – 2 pm [Each Deeper Dive Lab will be 45 minutes in length and will be presented twice.] 1200 youth [6th-12th grade] for·mat noun /ˈfôrˌmat / Priority will be given to concept papers that: Are interactive and engaging.
