The YMCA of Klamath Falls Current Openings Day Camp Coordinator Category: Camp Status: Temp/Seasonal Days/Hours: Monday-Friday starting June 15th thru September 4th. Mandatory training starting May, TBD. Times vary from week-to-week. Application Deadline: April 10, 2015 Pay Rate: (Depending on Experience) Summary: Under the direction of the Program Director, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Day Camp. Employee will assist with the development of quality programs and provide supervision and guidance to camp staff to ensure all specific duties are carried out successfully. Duties and Responsibilities: Model the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversation with members. Work directly with the Camp Director in developing programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans and general camp operations. Work with special events, promotions, rainy day programs and any other special needs; take part in, and assist with, outside camp programs, promotions and training sessions. Travel to any secondary camp locations when asked or needed to ensure the success of camp activities. Ensure all camp schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; comply with the camp schedule, arriving to work daily on time and working as a flexible team player. Provide work direction to the camp staff and play an important role in the training and hiring of staff. Address personnel concerns as necessary; take part in mid-summer and post-summer evaluations with the Program Director. Interact effectively with the camp staff as a total system, with camper’s best interest in mind. Know, understand, train and execute all camp policies and emergency procedures associated with the camp. Coordinate safety and quality before and after care at all sites. Communicate with parents and address parent concerns in a timely manner. Seek the help of the Program Director when necessary. Assist with the various administrative tasks, coordinate schedules and complete all necessary reports; take inventory of and help purchase necessary supplies. Help ensure the cleanliness of all YMCA facilities by participating in light cleaning and organizing supplies. Experience Required: Minimum 21 years of age High school diploma or equivalent preferred Driver’s License Two to three years camp or related experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration of camp or youth programs preferred Certifications Required: Child Abuse Detection/Prevention and Blood borne Pathogens complete Camp Counselor training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED & Emergency Oxygen Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: This position requires an individual with a sincere enjoyment of children and an appreciation of their needs, outdoors, outdoor activities and education and program delivery. Employee must have excellent organizational and administrative skills, as well as the ability to work well with youth, adults, staff, and parents. Employee must have excellent knowledge of policies, procedures, activities, programs and children as they relate to camping. S/he must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and overnights. Physical Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
