A minimum registration number must be met two weeks prior to the start of camp in order for a camp session to run. Registrations are accepted up to one week prior to the camp start date. Before Care is offered at $10/child/day starting at 8:00 am. After Care is offered at $15/child/day for each half hour until 5:30 pm. A weekly Before and After Care option is available for $100. Any camper who is still in program more than 5 minutes after the Camp end time, will be transferred to the After Care program, applicable fees apply. In this animal focused program, all of the activities, crafts and games will be related to learning more about animal behaviour, adaptations and senses, through fun, hands-on activities. Leadership, character and teamwork skills are key factors in life and academic success. Kortight has teamed up with Dynamix for an action-packed and innovative week with fun, hands-on learning that builds each camper’s planning, communication, teamwork and leadership skills! all camps include: • Discover wildlife up close and personal with a live animal show! Campers have the chance to meet and interact with fascinating live animals and their handlers. • Experience outdoor cook outs! Each Friday we will provide lunch and snacks for the campers. We will continue a great outdoor tradition by roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over a campfire in the valley surrounded by majestic hardwood forests.* *Pending appropriate weather conditions. Alternative meal leadership in training July 6–17 & August 10–21 (2 week program, excluding weekends), for ages 12–14 provided for poor weather conditions or dietary restrictions. history week July 27–31, for ages 5–11 Through progressive leadership activities, exercises and group tasks, campers are given opportunities to excel in a leadership capacity. This 2 week program has campers using our low ropes course, meeting new friends, learning leadership strategies, having a lot of fun and participating on an overnight camping experience at one of our conservation areas. Please note: 12 registrants maximum. Overnight happens on the 2nd Thursday of this 2 week program. Experience a “blast from the past!” Participate in an archaeology dig, use ancient technologies, learn about traditional uses of plants, play pioneer and early Aboriginal activities and crafts. Enrich your child’s historical knowledge through fun, hands-on and exciting activities. spy camp survival camp July 13–17, for ages 5–11 August 10–14 & August 24–28, for ages 5–11 Learn how to spy on nature! In this exciting and unique program, campers will supercharge their senses and learn techniques to dramatically increase their observation skills. Join us and learn about archeology, tracking animals, using binoculars, camouflage, moving silently and spying into the private lives of animals. Learn basic survival skills in this fun filled outdoor focused program. Start a fire, build a shelter, learn what to eat (and what not to eat!) in the wild. Learn about navigation basics and animal adaptations and play the popular “predator-prey” game. music and art in nature July 20–24, for ages 5–11 Mask making, painting, singing and making an instrument are all a part of this creative week. We have partnered with McMichael Canadian Art Collection and professional musicians to deliver a quality one week music and art experience. No experience necessary to participate. • Each Thursday evening, a hearty and nutritious meal is provided followed by a campfire program including fire side treats, activities, skits and songs! Pick up on Thursday is 8:00pm. INCREDIBLE INSECTS August 17–21, for ages 5–11 Creepy Crawlies, bugs that wiggle, bugs that swim and bugs that jiggle! Welcome to Incredible Insects! Learn about different types of insects, their behaviours, senses and adaptations. Crafts, activities and field studies will be packed with insect fun! CAMP AGE GROUPS Campers are placed into 3 separate age categories; Ages 5–6, 7–8 and 9–11. Age categories are only combined when minimum registration numbers are not met.
