Staff News – Sad Farewells
It is with sadness that we say farewell another two members
of staff. Both Mrs Dong (4D) and Ms Battam (2PB) will be
leaving us at the end of next week. Mrs Dong leaves to take up
a permanent position at John Palmer PS and Ms Battam will be
returning to our casual pool. 4D will be taken by Mr Karl Easton
and Mrs Page will be returning to her class full time, effective from the beginning of Term 2.
I am sure that you join me in wishing Mrs Dong and Ms Battam all the best for their future
careers.
Staff News – Congratulations
On a more positive note, we congratulate Mr Hope who has been successful at
interview at acquiring the position of Assistant Principal here at Kellyville
Ridge. Mr Hope has been relieving in this position since the beginning of the
year and will continue as executive supervisor of Years 3 & 4.
Parent Survey
I have some more responses to the results of our parents survey for
your information:
 Cleaning (particularly the boy’s toilets) – this was an issue that was raised by a number of
parents. I am happy to inform everyone that after discussion with Spotless Management,
the toilets will all be undergoing a ‘deep clean’ in the holidays.
 Second Hand Uniforms/ Books - a number of parents wondered why we don’t have a
dedicated second hand uniform store. We are happy to have second hand uniforms, however
we are restricted by two things…
(1) Parents donating uniforms to the school – unfortunately we don’t have many donations
made to the school. Usually, families who leave the school pass their uniforms onto
neighbours or friends, so therefore we don’t usually have a lot of stock here at school.
(2) Storage is a huge issue here at school. Health regulations mean that we cannot store
used and new uniforms together, so if we get a large number of second hand uniforms
donated, we then have to organized a sale so that we don’t have to store them.
 Student Achievements in the newsletter – starting today, we will be publishing the names of
those students who have received awards. Listed later in the newsletter are the names of
those children who received Principal Awards at the Special Assemblies this week.

SICK STUDENTS
If children become ill during the day, they will be sent by their teacher to the sick bay where the
office staff will monitor them and phone you if necessary. If however, your child is ill in the
morning, it is best to keep them at home, giving them time to recover and ensuring that illnesses
are not spread. Please do not bring them to school for music lessons unless they are well enough to
remain at school for the whole day. Thank you for your cooperation.
EASTER ACTIVITIES
Easter is rapidly approaching and we are going to run our Easter Eggstravaganza again this year. Details are provided later in the newsletter. We
are asking once again for donations of Easter eggs for the P&C Easter
Guessing Competition (Raffle). Last year, we had enough eggs to make up
prizes for every class and I am sure we can do just as well this year. Easter
eggs can be sent to the office for collection. Raffle books have come home
this week and prizes will be drawn at our Easter Eggstravaganza.

HELP NEEDED
How do I apply?
STEP 1: Fill in an application form online
Go to www.newcheck.kids.nsw.gov.au and fill in the online application form. You will be asked whether your child‐related work is paid or unpaid. If you cannot access the online system, call a Customer Support Officer on (02) 9286 7219 for assistance with your application. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an application number that looks like this: - APP1234567E (the ‘E’ means it is for paid work) or - APP1234567V (the ‘V’ means it is only valid for unpaid work). STEP 2: Present proof of your identity
Go to a NSW motor registry or NSW Council Agency that offers RMS services with:
- your application number AND proof of your identity (same as for a NSW driver’s license). You must have BOTH of these items for your application to proceed. If you are in paid work, you will also be required to pay an $80 fee for a five year clearance You will not be required to prove that you are a volunteer or paid worker. The Customer Service Operator at the NSW motor registry or Council Agency will know which type of Check you have applied for by the letter at the end of your application number. ‘E’ means your Check is for paid work, ‘V’ means it is for unpaid work only. You will receive your outcome and Working With Children Check number by email (or post if you do not have an email address). Most applications will be processed within 48 hours. PLEASE NOTE! Before you go to a NSW motor registry or Council Agency that offers RMS Services:  You MUST take your application number with you. Customer Service Operators cannot look it up on their system. If you do not have your application number, you cannot proceed with your proof of identity requirement.  You cannot submit proof of identity for someone else. To prove your identity, you must appear in person with your own documentation
