RULES FOR ADMISSIONS TO THE M. PHIL. and Ph. D. PROGRAMMES OF KADI SARVA VISHWVIDYALAYA, GANDHINAGAR 1. The M.Phil. Programme in each faculty will be of one year or two Semesters. Ph. D. Programme has minimum 6 Semesters. 2. Any candidate who has obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in the relevant subject from a recognized University including foreign candidates (approved by their Embassies) and sponsored candidates, securing not less than 50% marks (CGPA 5.5 in a scale of 10.0) (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) shall be eligible to apply for the M. Phil. And Ph. D. Degree Programmes. 3. If the results of Master's Degree are declared in the form of grades / credit s / cumulative points in their marks cards / transcripts, such grades /points shall be converted into percentages to assess the minimum eligibility criteria as specified above. 4. Admission to M. Phil. & Ph.D. shall be through the Entrance Test (KCET-2015) to be conducted by the University. 5. Candidates awaiting the results of the Qualifying Examination can also apply. Their results shall be subject to submission of the qualifying result. 6. Applicants who have qualified UGCJRF / UGC-CSIR-JRF / GATE* / GPAT* / SLET / GRE / NET (As per 2009 norms) examinations shall be exempted from M.Phil. Entrance test. Applicants for Ph.D. who possess M.Phil Degree are also exempt from Entrance Test. 7. All the applicants including those eligible for exemption from the Entrance Test, have to necessarily submit the Application Form along with necessary documents in cash or DD of Rs. 750/- in favour of "Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya” payable at Gandhinagar. 8. There will be 100 questions (MCQ) common for all disciplines, which include English Language Comprehension, Basic Computer Skills, Data Interpretation and Research Methodology. The outline of the syllabus is available on University website. The person obtaining 50 or more than 50 marks will be eligible to appear for personal interview. 9. Candidates found eligible after KCET, have to appear for a Personal Interaction before University Research Doctoral Core Committee (RDC) on the notified dates. The eligible Ph.D. applicants shall have to present their proposed Research project to the RDC. It is the responsibility of the candidate to be present for the P.I. / Presentation on the date as per schedule of the university 10. The decision of the RDC is final and binding to all. No claims shall be admissible on the decision of the RDC. 11. Once the RDC finalizes the registration of the candidates and receives due approval from the allotted Supervisor / Guide, candidate will be informed to submit the finalized proposal and pay the requisite fees within a stipulated time. 12. The decision of the Director -KSV shall be final and binding for all in the interpretation of any provision contained in these rules and regulations.
