letter dated
May 4th, 2015 regarding the recent visit of a Kaua' i County
Council member to Basel for our AGM. I appreciate your clarification that this visit was
neither officially directed nor sanctioned by the Kaua' i Council but was rather the action of an
individual.
Additionally, we appreciate your affirmation as Council Chair that Syngenta is operating in
accordance with the law on the island of Kaua' i. It bears repeating that in addition to already
following strict regulations enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency, the U. S.
Department of Agriculture, and the state of Hawai' i, we support and are voluntarily following
the Good Neighbor Program developed by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.
As you know, Syngenta has been present for more than 40 years on the island of Kaua' i and
we have taken our leadership role as a good corporate citizen seriously throughout that
tenure. We remain committed to the island where our employees remain a vital part of the
community and economy.
