Lawes Consulting Group was originally formed by Steven Lawes and Lee Spink in 2002. Through unprecedented growth
and expansion we are now insurance market leaders encompassing divisions specialising in recruitment for the Broking,
Underwriting, Claims & Adjusting, Actuarial, Reinsurance and Risk & Compliance sectors.
Originally starting from offices in St Johns Lane, London, we now have a permanent residence within The Lloyds building,
the central hub of the Insurance World. Our National growth has led us to develop a network of offices throughout the
UK & Globally. We are fully committed to our UK wide client base as well as assisting clients with Global expansion and
International recruitment needs.

The Broking Market is a particularly strong area for Lawes Consulting Group. Over the past few years we have witnessed a plateau in the UK Broking Market but
this trend appears to be changing more recently. The Market has turned a corner; and we are now in a period where we have played a key role in both the current
and ongoing growth of what is the lifeblood of the insurance industry. As a key figure within the recruitment of Broking professionals we play a pivotal role in
supporting our clients to attract the best talent in the Market and assist our candidates to fulfil their career aspirations, whether that be with small Independent
Brokers, National Brokers or working for the Largest Global Broking Houses.
With the increase in demand and the shortage of both qualified Actuaries and experienced Analysts, the Actuarial & Analytical division of Lawes Consulting
Group has been very busy indeed. Our proactive approach means we are consistently seeking Graduates, part qualified and experienced Actuaries and analysts
from around the globe to support our clients growing needs.
The UK commercial insurance market is changing, both in the SME and large commercial segments. The biggest impact in recent times has been the impact of
technology in SME distribution, with more changes on the horizon. This said the fundamentals of underwriting remain the same, the technical knowledge to
underwrite profitable risks and build excellent, long standing broker relationships.
We specialise in Treaty, both proportional and non-proportional and Facultative Reinsurance Markets across broking and underwriting.
We have a proven heritage of providing underwriting professionals, not only at Senior Class Underwriter level but for Development Underwriters, Trading
Underwriters, Renewal Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters. At Lawes Consulting Group we believe in nurturing and assisting the next generation of up and
coming individuals within this ever evolving skillset.
The Claims and Adjusting arena is one that constantly changes and requires companies and employees to constantly review performance, competitors and
current market trends. For this reason, Insurance Claims and Adjusting professionals require a mixed skill set, an ability to adapt positively to change along
with an eye for detail. For this reason, good claims candidates and our clients who employ them, are pivotal to the ongoing profitability and stability of the UK
insurance market.
Our efforts have enabled us to build relationships with individuals across all actuarial and analytical disciplines including product development, pricing, modelling,
MI reporting, capital and reserving.
In the absence of significant loss events recently, we believe that prices will continue to soften since the key 1st January renewals. Pricing fragmentation will
persist, resulting in a disparity in the overall level of pricing movements, but the presence of surplus underwriting capacity will broaden soft market conditions
to more classes. While we expect prices to remain adequate across major classes, underwriting discipline will be tested. Competition between traditional and
alternative capacity providers is expected to continue.
All in all, from a career development point of view this is currently an exciting fluid market.
