FLAT OUT LIKE JUNE 2015 Website: http://www.lizardsgolfclub.com Welcome To Vice President's Day (Final of the Lindenberg) Our Vice-President this year has been the softly spoken David Copeland. David has been with us for some time now, but this is his first foray into the “committee”. During the next twelve months he’s sure to find out just how much power the president of this great club has! As always we thank our outgoing leader for his efforts, humour and goodwill and welcome in the new blood. Best of luck Dave! PRESIDENT’S DAY, with 25 Lizards and 5 visitors, produced the following results: 1st LIZARDS 2nd LIZARDS John O’Meara - 42 points off a handicap of 19 Gary Castle - 37 points off a handicap of 25 1st VISITORS 2nd VISITORS Jim Efstathiou - 34 points off a handicap of 27 Mark Bull - 29 points off a handicap of 21 BEST SCRATCH Neil Winterton - 22 points BEST FRONT NINE BEST BACK NINE Peter Kiely - 21 points off a handicap of 15 Ian Massey - 19 points off a handicap of 18 NEAREST the PINS 2nd 7th 11th 16th Peter Kiely Jim Efstathiou Keith McDonald Ian Massey 1st 1st Glen Batkin Neil Winterton LONGEST DRIVES BRADMAN 19+ 18- Lizards Visitors 5th 9th 14th 18th Neil Winterton N.G.E. Keith McDonald N.G.E. Glen Batkin - 23 points off a handicap of 23 Mark Thurgood - 15 points on count-back off a handicap of 36 John O’Meara (that’s pronounced o-mar-a) has taken a real shine to the new course layout. His 42 points was 5 clear of 2nd place, and 13 better than the day’s average score of 29. It was actually 4 years to the day since his previous win, which undoubtedly made it even sweeter. Gary Castle is enjoying some late season form, although he may have left his run a little late for the club championship. Still, 37 points on the resort course is nothing to sneeze at. Glen Batkin has been taking a lead from his beloved Sea Eagles of late. His recent spate of Bradman winning scores is right in line with the performance of his favoured NRL team! Which of them will climb off the bottom of the ladder first? AGM Update Neil Winterton has booked Balgowlah RSL for Tuesday 7 July. The meeting will be in the Terrace Room at about 7pm, followed by a meal in the Bistro for those who want to eat. Health Update Hart Schwarz is now residing at the Opal Seaside Aged Care Facility. Visiting is available anytime at 184 Garden Street Warriewood. Phone calls can be put through to him on 9910 7600. He is in the dementia ward and is ‘locked in”. Andy Warner has had the operation on his back and will not be at Lizards in June. Neil is hopeful of a further update at today’s meeting. 2015 Lindenberg Update Results of the Quarter Finals of the Lindenberg Michael Morgan Neil Winterton d d Kyle Wilson Geoff Warren Draw for the Final of the Lindenberg Michael Morgan vs Neil Winterton 4 and 2 4 and 2 Fines of the Day Wal Hill For supplying creosote impregnated firewood for the Lizards barbeque Stretch He forgot to lock his truck thus allowing the treasurer to fill the fine tins prematurely with the coins he found on the console Tony Lewis For playing like a big girl with his borrowed set of ladies golf clubs Peter Kiely Was caught using the “Gastro Stop” tablets he stole from Col Lacey for himself Gary Castle Didn’t supply enough gas to cook the Lizards hot dogs TODAY’S PLAY Handicap Adjustments John O'Meara -2 Glen Batkin 1 Garry Bird LM 1 Glenn Castle 1 Dave Dunworth 1 Brian Ellis 1 Mason Hiini 1 Wal Hill Keith McDonald Chris Mooney Rob O'Brien Michael Porter Joel Prothero Peter Simmonds Nearest the Pins Handicap of 19 or more Handicap of 18 or less 2nd 2nd Longest Drives Handicap of 19 or more Handicap of 18 or less 1st 1st Michael Soderborg Geoff Warren Kyle Wilson Mark Thurgood Tony Lewis 7th 7th NEXT MONTH Event: 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 TODAY Epps/Meredith Day (Sponsored by Col Lacey & Ivan Tiltins) Tee Time: Caterer: 8:00 am Brian Ellis Good Golfing and Good Luck Chris Mooney, Editor 8:00 am Mick Porter / Peter Simmonds 1 1 1 5 5
