These artists represent a variety of artistic disciplines and creative expression: Photographer Kathy Muir prints black and white photographs on metal sheets. She states, “My ‘From Water, Life’ exhibition reminds us of how we have created life around water through our own inventiveness and self expression.” Much of Karen Neems’ photography is guided by the sense of mystery with what lies just below the surface. She states, “In my series of ‘Unmade Beds’ I observe the honesty of a bedroom left in its natural state. As the light enters the room and plays upon the surfaces, the viewer becomes engaged in the lives within those images. A story unfolds…” Wendi Ohlson works in acrylics and mixed media. Her intuitive sense of color leads her to create bold, expressionistic paintings. Maura Shapiro’s work, “The Source,” represents the fusion of selective architectural and landscape concepts expressed through the medium of painting, collage and mixed media. “I try to accomplish this goal by carefully seeking an interlocking balance between color, form, foreground, background, texture, and structural equilibrium,” she states. Jody Silver states, “my work, generally speaking, comes from personal experiences such as vacations, and watching my family teach my granddaughter how to walk. Whatever I connect with emotionally is fair game for a painting. As a one time animator and illustrator, I use my cartoony skills to get close to my feelings.” Phyllis Sinrich is exhibiting a collection of photographs she views as another look at nature. She states, “These images are an invitation to explore nature from a different perspective…using a fine art photographer’s eye to separate the traditional from the interpretative…perhaps to morph the reality into an abstraction. Look at nature — but look again.” Regular Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 4:30 PM. Admission and parking are free.
