Pioneers May 14 Join us at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, for our Pioneer Fellowship in the Longview FUMC Faith Center. Our program this month is “Hymns in My Heart, a Concert of Best-Loved Hymns of the Faith and the Stories Behind Them” presented by the fourth grade music classes of the Christian Heritage School of Longview, under the direction of Beth Sheffield. Bring a friend! Invite your neighbor! Pioneers welcomes anyone, especially those who are retired or of retirement age. The annual Asbury House Garage Sale will be held on Friday, August 7 in the Longview FUMC Faith Center. All proceeds will go to the Asbury House Child Enrichment Center. Currently, donations for the garage sale are accepted 7–8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 4–5 p.m. on Saturdays. Bring items to the trailer on the east side of the church (enter on Green Street). Please note that adult clothing will not be accepted. Thank you for your donations. Davidson Chapel – May 16, 2015 A beautiful one hour chapel service in Diana, Texas with a guest speaker followed by a free all-you-can-eat fish fry. Hosted by the Josephine Davidson foundation. FUMC will have bus transportation for those who would like to ride the bus. You must RSVP in the church office by Thursday, May 14 if you wish to ride. Food of the Month May: Canned Fruit Each month we collect a different food item that will go to help feed the hungry in Longview. Please bring completed kits to the Longview FUMC Church Office by May 13. CHURCH NEWS SFLC: Limited Openings Still Available For Summer 2015, and Fall 2015–Spring 2016! School for Little Children, a children's ministry of First United Methodist Church since 1958, offers the highest quality of education and care within a nurturing Christian environment for children ages 6 weeks–Kindergarten for the fall and spring semesters. The summer program cares for children 6 weeks–fourth grade. Various days and schedules are available according to family needs. Library Book Sale The church library book sale will be Saturday, June 13 (9 AM to 4 PM), and Sunday, June 14 (8 AM to 12:30 PM) in Cook Foyer. Come to choose from fiction, biographies, religious/devotional books, cookbooks, children’s books, and much more. Mission Opportunities for Youth May 16 – The Longview FUMC Youth Ministry will be helping with yard work and spreading wood chips at the Asbury House Work Day. Please bring rakes and wear closed toe shoes. May 23 – The youth will be preparing and serving lunch at Newgate Mission. Meet at Longview FUMC at 9 a.m. to begin food prep. Sign up in the Youth Room as we have limited spots. May 24 – Youth will be performing a Pentecost presentation in both contemporary services. Please sign up for a part in the Youth Room. Children, Youth, and Parents Interested in Lakeview Methodist Camp We will have a short informational meeting about Lakeview at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 31 in the Youth Room. Lakeview Methodist Camp is for any children and youth who have completed 4 grade–12 grade this spring. Texas Rangers Game and Casting Crowns Concert Was a Blast! The Longview FUMC Youth Ministry had a great day on Sunday, May 3 at the Texas Ranger Game. The weather was beautiful, and there was tons of food, laughter, and a Casting Crowns Concert on the field after the game. Thank you to Kelly and Amy Long, and Steve Jones for helping out! The Flood (Youth Co-Ed) Softball Team Schedule All games are held on Tuesdays at Hinsley Park May 12 – 7:45 p.m. & 8:45 p.m. May 19 – 6:45 p.m. May 26 – 7:45 p.m.
