History
of Lumberjack Feud
Lumberjack Feud began in 2011 as a celebration of
lumberjack sports, real Lumberjack athletes, and the history
of the logging heritage here in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Over the years this dinner show has grown to include over
18 lumberjack sporting events and has showcased some of
the world’s best Lumberjack athletes and TimberDogs.
Lumberjack Feud has also collected an archive of video
footage, radio clips, and authentic logging tools to educate
guests about the impact the logging community had on
this area and the country. A unique mix of entertainment,
education, and raw talent makes Lumberjack Feud the
MUST SEE family dinner show in the Smokies.
|||||| An authentic Smoky Mountain Experience
Our show tells the story of two logging families - the Dawsons and the McGraws - as they battle for the last
remaining timber before the Great Smoky Mountains National Park opens. Using historical images, videos,
and audio we share the history of our area in an exciting and interesting way. Logging was the vitality and
survival of the families here and we want to share the impact they had on our country.
Lumberjack Archives
Before you take a seat in the largest lumberjack sporting arena in
the world, you’ll have the chance to walk through our history center
which features photographs of timber camp life in the Smokies.
Lumberjacks worked long days and nights felling trees to send
lumber throughout the country. Lumberjacking was and continues
to be one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

Building Lumberjack Feud
The creation of the world’s largest indoor lumberjack sporting arena
Creating an Indoor Lumberjack Sports Arena
Lumberjack Feud is home to the world’s largest indoor lumberjack sporting arena.
Construction began in early 2011, and was finished within a year. The arena holds 850
seats, 650 of them dinner show seats and 200 movie style show only seats. “Lone Pine
Mountain” stands over 60 feet tall in the middle of the arena, complete with a working
waterfall and a versatile log rolling pond below. The Feud offcially opened on August 26,
2011.
The arena floor consists of two 60ft climbing poles and four chopping block stands that
| Lumberjack Feud
hold 4logs
for various events. The flexible construction allows the show and events to
change frequently, and provides quick transitions between them.
Our Show
Before the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was
dedicated in 1940, President Roosevelt gave the
logging families of the Smokies one last season to
log. When you step into our arena, you’re transported
back to the 1930s, where two families - the Dawsons
and McGraws - are fighting for the right to the last
remaining timber before the park opens.
The feud between families is mediated by Ranger
Black, the park’s first ranger. He decides that the
winner of a lumberjack competition will be the family
claiming Lone Pine Mountain’s final logging season.
Through 18 real competitions, the Lumberjacks and
Lumberjills take to the floor to battle it out and the
audience cheers on their family to victory! The camp
cook ”Cookie” offers a hilarious addition as he tries to
find a new job before the park opens.
The rowdiest guests receive wood “cookies” from each
event, and during the show the audience enjoys our
camp style meal served in a 1930’s style mess kit.
Lumberjack Feud offers real athletes, real competition
and real family fun!

Lumberjack
Athletes
Our lumberjacks are ESPN athletes who compete worldwide in lumberjack
sports. Everything in our show is the real deal, and these guys are a cut above
the rest.
The Lumberjacks at Lumberjack Feud
have sawdust in their veins. They live
for lumberjack sports, and dedicate
themselves to being the best of the
best.
All of our Lumberjacks hold
championship titles, and many of them
are world champions in their events.
They travel around the world
competing, and use this show as a
means to perfect their sport each and
every night.
6 | Lumberjack Feud
Not only are they performing shows
each night, seven days a week, these
Lumberjacks also work day jobs as real
lumberjacks, many owning their own
tree trimming businesses or working
somewhere in the forestry field.
When they harness the power of a
roaring chainsaw, or wield an axe so
sharp it could cut clean through bone,
it’s not because of the money. They
teeter on the edge of danger for the
love of the sport...for the love of being
a Lumberjack athlete.

Lumberjill
Athletes
2015 Team
These girls are tough competitors, training daily to master their events. To be a
Lumberjill at the Feud, Lumberjills must know how to clog, dance, and be
athletic enough to compete alongside the Lumberjacks.
Lumberjills were an intergral part of logging camps. They cooked,
cleaned, and help split wood for the fires and in our show the jills
are competing alongside our Lumberjacks. Not only are they
talented cloggers and dancers, but they compete in events like the
Jack and Jill Double Buck, the Boom Run, and the Rigging Race.

Animals of Lumberjack Feud
TimberDogs
One of the most exciting events is the Extreme
Reach event. Our TimberDogs dive off the end
of a dock, and jump to heights over six feet to
retrieve a bumper, winning their team a point!
You won’t see dogs like our TimberDogs anywhere
else.
These World Champion Timberdogs are as
talented as our lumberjack athletes, and compete
worldwide.
Three of the world’s fastest dogs call Lumberjack
Feud home and during our show you’ll see them
swim, race, and jump to heights over seven feet!
Not only are our dogs among the world’s best but
so is our dog trainer, Joey Spurlock. He and
TimberDog Brock were inducted into the DockDog
Hall of Fame in 2014!

Horses
Draft horses were a large part of logging history. They
pulled large amounts of wood over rugged terrain and
helped transport loggers and equipment to logging camps.
We have two beautiful Percheron Draft Horses, Bill and Bob,
who live on an 80 acre farm. They show off their strength
during our show by pulling sleds through the arena to
move logs and athletes.
