Using historical images, videos, and audio we share the history of our area in an exciting and interesting way. Logging was the vitality and survival of the families here and we want to share the impact they had on our country. Lumberjack Archives Before you take a seat in the largest lumberjack sporting arena in the world, you’ll have the chance to walk through our history center which features photographs of timber camp life in the Smokies. Lumberjacks worked long days and nights felling trees to send lumber throughout the country. Lumberjacking was and continues to be one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Lumberjack Feud | 3 Building Lumberjack Feud The creation of the world’s largest indoor lumberjack sporting arena Creating an Indoor Lumberjack Sports Arena Lumberjack Feud is home to the world’s largest indoor lumberjack sporting arena. Construction began in early 2011, and was finished within a year. The arena holds 850 seats, 650 of them dinner show seats and 200 movie style show only seats. “Lone Pine Mountain” stands over 60 feet tall in the middle of the arena, complete with a working waterfall and a versatile log rolling pond below. The Feud offcially opened on August 26, 2011. The arena floor consists of two 60ft climbing poles and four chopping block stands that | Lumberjack Feud hold 4logs for various events. The flexible construction allows the show and events to change frequently, and provides quick transitions between them. Our Show Before the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was dedicated in 1940, President Roosevelt gave the logging families of the Smokies one last season to log. When you step into our arena, you’re transported back to the 1930s, where two families - the Dawsons and McGraws - are fighting for the right to the last remaining timber before the park opens. The feud between families is mediated by Ranger Black, the park’s first ranger. He decides that the winner of a lumberjack competition will be the family claiming Lone Pine Mountain’s final logging season. Through 18 real competitions, the Lumberjacks and Lumberjills take to the floor to battle it out and the audience cheers on their family to victory! The camp cook ”Cookie” offers a hilarious addition as he tries to find a new job before the park opens. The rowdiest guests receive wood “cookies” from each event, and during the show the audience enjoys our camp style meal served in a 1930’s style mess kit. Lumberjack Feud offers real athletes, real competition and real family fun!
