Summer Art Camp 2015 Scholarship Application Form A p p l i c at i o n P r o c e s s In order to be considered for a Lux Summer Art Camp Scholarship, please complete the following steps: 1. Complete this form. Select the requested weeks of camp. Preference is given to students who are available for the entire six-week camp. 2. Submit a brief letter from the student’s teacher attesting to the character and interest of the student. 3. Submit a letter from the student that expresses why he or she would like to participate in Summer Art Camp. 4. Attach 1-3 artwork samples (painting, drawings, sculpture, photography, poetry, whatever!) Artwork will not be returned, original work is discouraged. All materials should be submitted together by May 22, 2015. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications are reviewed by Lux’s Education Committee and scholarships are granted based on demonstrated need and availability of funds. Applicants will be notified by June 5, 2015 . Scholarship Recipient Requirements 1. Scholarship recipients are required to attend each class and each week of camp for which they are awarded a scholarship. Families must arrange for transportation. Please do not apply for the scholarship if the student is unable to attend each class (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). 2. Upon receiving the scholarship, the recipient’s parents will be required to complete a registration form that includes a photo release waiver. Scholarship recipients may be photographed, along with other Summer Art Camp students. Week 2 (July 13-17) Performance & Collaboration: Students will learn how artists have collaborated to create unique and engaging, interactive projects. Week 3 (July 20-24) DIY: Students complete a variety of post-punk DIY projects, from making their own instruments, to “publishing” their own ‘zines. Week 4 (July 27-31)Time & Space: Students investigate, imagine and create their vision of the future, space, and other dimensions. Week 5 (August 3-7) Surrealism & Fantasy: Students turn their dreams into art and learn about contemporary artists working in surrealist styles. Week 6 (August 10-14) Street Art: Students take art out of the traditional institutional environment and create projects on the Lux grounds for our visitors to stumble upon and contemplate.
