Beef Masala additional torture to victim
Kathmandu. Pakistan sent Beef Masala has
added the sufferings to earthquake victims of
Nepal. Nepal is Hindu country where cow
meat is not accepted. Pakistan sent cows meet
in the name of relief goods to Nepal. This
activity of Pakistan increases tension in
SAARC. In Nepal cow is worshiped. Pakistan
sent cows meat. This is noticed to Prime Minister of Nepal to take
action. No one has taken the Beef Masala.

Earthquake has not only collapsed the
old buildings of Nepal but it has
shaken the tensed relation between
Madheshi and Pahadi people of Nepal.
Though Pahade led government
ignored sufferings of Madhesh but
Madheshi stood with relief goods to
their Pahade brothers. Madheshi forgot
the discrimination continued by Pahade
community. Madheshi collected relief
goods from Madhesh supporting
Pahade . Madheshi people went to
mountain area to provide relief.
Madhesh based parties ran campaign to
collect relief from Madheshi people.
This is first time Madhesi could get
chance to open their heart for Pahade.
Those Madheshi people helped in
assisting to victims are thankful. This
has enlarged the height of Madheshi

Jamaat-ud –Dawa’s beef masala to
‘Hindu Nepal kicks up a diplomatic row
- Malladi Rama Rao
Quake hit Nepal is facing a
piquant situation even as the
toll has crossed 6,000 marks
with over 10,000 injured. The
Kathmandu airport and relief
hubs are overflowing with
relief material but the general
complaint is that enough aid
is not reaching the needy
survivors,
who
are
“homeless, exhausted and
angry”
Yet, the ready- to –eat meal
(MRE) packets sent by
Pakistan remain untouched.
In fact, this aid has created a
media furore, and threatens
to turn Pakistan-Nepal
relations sour, says Demanjo,
a leading news portal. All
because of beef masala in the
food packets! Close to 95
percent population in Nepal is
averse to beef. Over 84
percent people are Hindu by
faith. For them cow is not
only a sacred but also is on
par with one’s mother; laws
of the land have placed a
blanket ban on cow slaughter
since 1854 when the first
Civil Code of Nepal, the
Muluki
Ain,
was
promulgated.
The Rashtriya Swayam
Sewak Sangh (RSS), known
as Hindu Volunteer Force,
which is active in the quake
hit villages, has termed
Pakistan’s action of sending
beef-masala food packets as
insensitive. Others active in
the relief front are seeing the
act as a deliberate mischief to
hurt the Hindu sentiment, and
attribute it to Jamaat –udDawa (JuD), which enjoys a
free run in any relief effort
mounted by Pakistani
government inside or outside
the country.
This view gained currency
after the Pakistan Prime
Ministers’ Office issued a
clarification that the food
consignment was for the nonHindu community of Nepal.
The clarification went on to
claim that the advisory was
clearly written on the labels
of the food packets. The
absurdity of the clarification
has since been exposed by the
social media like Twitter
which have carried photos of
the Pakistan’s meal ready to
eat (MRE) packets. These
photos show they originated
from Nowshere Cantt in
Pakistan, and contain potato
bhujia and beef masala.
Pakistan foreign office
spokesperson
Tasneem
Aslam has blamed Indian
media for the beef row. At her
media
interaction
in
Islamabad yesterday, she
said: “It is unfortunate the
Indian media has not spared
a humanitarian mission and
tried to inject controversy”.
There are no takers for Ms
Aslam’s assertion in Nepal,
going by local media reports,
which say, Pakistan blaming
India is “a deliberate attempt
to cover up its own blunder”.
“The matter has been
conveyed to Prime Minister
Sushil Koirala and the
intelligence chief. We are also
starting an internal inquiry to
verify the facts. If the report

the forefront of relief work
coordinating with the Army,
according to its web site.
There is general agreement
that the ‘beef- act’ was a task
aimed at humiliating the
Hindus and that the Pak army,
which calls shots on foreign
policy issues, is “sure to be
in the knowing” of JuD act
that borders on blasphemy
for Nepalese in their hour of
distress. Hafeez Saeed has
recently acknowledged that
is correct, we will raise the
matter at the diplomatic level
with Pakistan. India, being
our key partner, will also be
informed
of
the
developments,” a Nepalese
official said.
Speaking on the condition of
no attribution, another official
added: “Pakistan has hurt
Nepal’s religious sentiments
by supplying the masala.
Shockingly, it did not care
about the sensitivity of the
matter”.
The known credentials of
JuD supremo, Hafeez Saeed
are adding fuel to the row.
“What, beyond any doubt,
points fingers towards
Hafeez Saeed for this act
(beef masala MRE) is the fact
that while the whole of
Pakistan is a declared Hinduhater country, Hafiz Saeed is
known to not let go any
opportunity to deeply hurt the
Hindu sentiments”, remarked
a Kathmandu based analyst,
adding that the Pakistan army
could not be unaware of the
Hafiz mischief. Elaborating
the analyst said: “While the
army could not risk its
reputation, the only other
powerful entity left in
Pakistan is the JUD of Hafiz
Saeed, which would have
relished getting involved in
such an insensitive exercise”.
Significantly, the Pak food aid
has come from PANA Force
Foods, which provides
processed food to civil
population during natural
calamities, like earthquakes
Pak army is behind him in all
his anti-India activities, which
include spewing venom
against the Hindus.
Put differently, even in the
‘beef masala’ adventure, the
permanent establishment of
Pakistan, which is an
euphemism for ISI, and its
handlers are on board this
‘Humiliate
Hindus’
missile.Senior RSS ideologue
Dattatreya Hosable hitting out
at Pakistan for sending the

Headlines Today “Pakistan is
fishing in troubled waters.
This cannot be allowed to go
on”Yoga guru Baba Ramdev
has also doubted Pakistan’s
intention behind sending beef
as aid to a Hindu country like
Nepal. He pointed out that
cow slaughter is a punishable
offensive in Nepal with jail
term of up to 12 years.
Meanwhile, uproar broke out
on social media with Netizens
criticising Pakistan. The
posts
are
generally
communally charged. “How
would they (Pakistanis) have
felt had any nation sent pork
as part of the food material
after such a tragedy”, asked
a tweet pointedly and thereby
raised the “Beef –Masala
temperature” and its potential
to turn Pakistan-Nepal

Indian assistance to Nepal never seen before
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala was in foreign trip while Nepal
was shaking. I heard that Koirla learnt about quake from the
twit of Indian Prime Minister Modi. Our government could
only manage cabinet in following day. Indian assistance is
never seen before. Indian states like Uttarpradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Gujarat also led the rescue and relief assistance
that is praiseworthy.
It is widely criticized
that Government of
Nepal has failed doing
required works to
rescue and provide
relief to victims of
earthquake. What do
you say about this
saying?
It is well known fact
that Kathmandu is in
earthquake
zone.
People as well as
government know this
face. No one can
predict earthquake
perfectly. Just we are
talking here and quake
can occur. Government
would have managed it
properly but it is not
seen that. Government
has not done as much as
it can. Victims are not
getting relief and
rescue services.
Who is to be blamed
for?
Does
this
responsibility go to
government or not?
E a r t h q u a k e
resistance buildings
would have only given
to be built in
Kathmandu valley but
it was not done. What
do you think about this
ignorance?
Capacity to cope such
disaster is weaker.
Government is an organ
only. We have no ground
to blame government.
This is the time to think
of
minimizing
sufferings of people.
We can see displaced
people in 45 BS have not
properly rehabilitated.
Victims of flood in 50BS
have
not
been
rehabilitated
as
announced
by
government. You can see
government has not
provided reliefs to the
victims of flood
occurred last year.
Government is not clear
what to do what not to do.
By earthquake rural areas
are collapsed more than
90 % and how can we
help
minimizing
suffering of people. First
of all we will have to
provide them shelter
possibly sooner because
it is rainy season. If it
rains now there will be
huge soil erosion. That is
one of the most
dangerous threats to
come. It is matter of
goodness that life line
like bridges, airport and
roads are found safe. This
helped providing relief
easier now.
What does the
earthquake
teach
lessons to people and
government?
We must be alert every
time. The major lesson
of earthquake is but men
forget this lesson. As
men forgot all lessons
from previous disasters
but government should
minimize suffering of
people now. Managerial
part of rescue and relief
is seen weaker that adds
more sufferings to
people. People want
relief immediately so
any delay in providing
relief adds more
sufferings to people.
Now threats like soil
erosion and eruption of
epidemic diseases are
terrorizing people. We
urge government to
experience the crisis as
much as the volume
erupted. Temporary
shelte r,p e r ma ne nt
shelter, rescue service
should be prompt.
Government has said
that it will rehabilitate
victims within 5 years.
Do you believe in
g o v e r n m e n t
commitment?
Matter of believe is not
here. Government must
do this and Government
can do this. Just you have
said that many previous
victims are yet to be
rehabilitated.
How can you say this
then?
If we review the past
situation there is no base
of
believing
in
government. We are
getting national and
international assistance
to battle this disaster.
The huge assistance can
be managed properly.
But the capability of
state is enough to cope
it. Operation of state is
not effective as required.
If the organs of
government take the
Hridayesh Tripathi
Vice President
Terai-Madhesh Democratic Party
commitment honestly to
fulfill, it is possible to be
happen. But government
has not shown this spirit
of action. Government
must be smart and alert.
We don’t want to blame
government but it is our
duty to focus on
weakness. My party
Tarai
Madhesh
Democratic Party just
worked with 6 million
rupees. It is not enough
but it a work of sympathy.
We want ensure people
that we are with them.
How can government
take support of ours that
depends on the art of
government, it depends
on the intension of
government. We are with
government face this
national disaster. We
people of Madhesh
annually face the
problems of floods and
fire so we know better
what our brothers of
mountain feel the pain of
earthquake. Our party
with its rank and file has
been active to face the
problems.
Now all international
friends of Nepal
pouring support. In this
juncture how is
assisting Nepal?
This time Indian
assistance is observed as
ever seen. As quake shook
Nepal ,Indian cabinet sat
for assisting Nepal. Indian
Prime
Minister
immediately sent rescue
team and relief provider
team to Nepal. Prime
Minister Sushil Koirala
was in foreign trip while
Nepal was shaking. I heard
that Koirla learnt about
quake from the twit of
Indian Prime Minister
Modi. Our government
could only manage
cabinet in following day.
Indian assistance is never
seen before. Indian states
like Uttarpradesh, West
Bengal, Bihar and
Gujarat also led the
rescue and relief
assistance that is
praiseworthy. These
states are neighboring
states of Nepal. We
highly evaluate Indian
assistance.

US-Indians raise hundreds of
thousands of dollars for Nepal
Indian-Americans, along with the
small Nepali community, are
raising hundreds of thousands of
dollars to help the victims in the
quake-hit Nepal. Grocery stores,
gas stations owned by IndianAmericans and temples have kept
donation boxes outside for the
people to donate generously.
Several temples in California and
Maryland have been making special
effort to collect funds for the quake
victims. “We are making several
fund raising efforts in various cities
in the US for Nepal,” said
Chandrakant Patel, president of the
Overseas Friends of BJP-USA.
“We are committed to provide
support for the immediate relief
and rehabilitation effort in the worst
affected areas of Nepal,” he said.
Last week in Los Angeles more
than USD 160,000 were raised for
the Nepal earthquake victims.
More than USD 360,000 were
raised by not for profit Sewa
International USA. The American
India Foundation (AIF), set up in

Five Macedonia policemen were
killed in a shootout with ‘terrorists’
Macedonia, hit by a deep
political crisis, was further
shaken when five police
officers were killed in clashes
with unidentified gunmen
among whom an unknown
number also died. “Five police
officers were killed in a shootout
with ‘terrorists’” and some 30
were injured in the northern
town of Kumanovo, Interior
Minister Gordana Jankuloska
on Saturday told reporters.
“There are victims among the
terrorists but for the time being
we cannot give the exact
number,”
she
added.Meanwhile, local papers
in the Albanian language
reported that five members of
an armed group were killed in
Kumanovo.Police said earlier
that the armed group illegally
entered Macedonia from a
neighbouring country, without
elaborating.Local
media
suggested they came from
neighbouring
Kosovo,
populated mostly by ethnic
Albanians.The clashes erupted
during a dawn raid by police
while local media said the police
operation, which was still
ongoing late yesterday, targeted
am ethnic Albanian part of the
town.Jankuloska said the
gunmen were planning to attack
state institutions. The gunmen
were well-armed and had
supporters in Kumanovo, police
said earlier.
Macedonia’s ethnic Albanian
rebels staged an insurgency in the
Balkan country in 2001.
During Saturday’s police
operation in Kumanovo, officers
were met with “violent
resistance” from snipers,
grenades and automatic
weapons, a police spokesman
said.The US embassy in Skopje
had earlier issued a statement
expressing condolences “to the
families of the people killed and
to those injured.”Local media
reported that some 30 members
of the armed group were
arrested, but there was no
immediate
independent
confirmation. Armoured police
vehicles were deployed across
Kumanovo, with officers clad in
bullet-proof jackets as helicopters
hovered overhead, according to
an AFP photographer.
Shooting continued on Saturday
evening, while dozens of people,
mostly women, children and the
elderly, were leaving the affected
zone, some of them being
evacuated by police, according to
the photographer.Police noted that
“difficult terrain” was hampering
the operation. The incident comes
less then three weeks after
around 40 ethnic Albanians from
neighbouring Kosovo briefly
seized control of a police station
on Macedonia’s northern border,
demanding the creation of an
Albanian state in Macedonia.
Indian woman reaches out to PM
Modi to help trace her Chinese sister
A head of his visit to China,
Prime Minister Narendra
Modi has received a request
from a lady in Chennai
seeking his help to trace her
Chinese step sister, a lone
survivor of her father’s
family in the World War II.
Jennifer An, daughter of a
Chinese Marine Engineer
An Chi Pong, who settled
in Madras (now Chennai),
is currently visiting China
to trace her step sister An
Roesai from her father’s first marriage. Her father, who hailed from
Shanghai, landed in Mumbai after the ship in which he was working ran
into trouble and later shifted to Chennai where he married a local woman
Irene Pereira with whom he had four children including Jennifer. Pong,
who studied marine engineering in Oxford University, remained in
Chennai throughout his life dreading to return to his homeland which
was caught in a whirlpool of turmoil including the Japanese invasion in
WW-II followed by the revolution headed by Mao Zedong and the
conflict between him and Chang Kai-shek leading to the emergence of
Taiwan.
He died in 1982 at the age of 82. Buoyed by Modi’s successful attempt
to reunite a Nepalese boy with his parents during his visit to Nepal,
Jennifer along with her husband VRS Balaji arrived here ahead of the
Prime Minister’s three-day visit to China from May 14 hoping he will
help their attempts to trace An. “Tragedy haunted the family all along.
We wanted to trace An so that we can have a reunion, the best tribute
we can pay to Pong,” Jennifer and Balaji told PTI.
