filled with 5,000 years of world art, we’re convinced there is at least one piece of art that will
resonate with you—and a number of ways of making art that will work for you. We have seen
our classes build creative habits, grow design and conceptual skills, and make people happily
content spinning wheels, weaving fibers, making friends and making art.

To sample what is possible, try one of our Quick Jewelry
series. Often, though, students tell us that one or two
classes are not enough!
The best choice, if you have little or no experience, is
Beginning Jewelry. Short classes in specialized techniques
(such as soldering) can help you add to your “toolbox” and
make the magical things you want to make.
Our studio is full of fine craftsmanship and good cheer!
QUICK JEWELRY SERIES
Short courses! Each of the classes in this series is perfect
for an absolute beginner. We carefully limit material costs,
and all materials can be purchased in the Workshop office
directly next to the studio. Class sizes are limited.

RENAISSANCE ART
53919 Four Saturdays, 1–2:30 pm, January 17–February 7
[taught by Mary Del Mastro]
This class is an introduction to
art of the Italian and Northern
European Renaissance. We
consider the many factors
that led to revolutionary
changes in artistic style and
subjects in the 15th and 16th
centuries: the rise of Humanism,
private patronage, the invention of
oil paints, discovery of mathematical perspective, and careful study of human anatomy. We will explore masterpieces
of well known Renaissance artists (Michelangelo, Leonardo,
Raphael, Botticelli, van Eyck, Dürer) as well as beautiful
examples in the gallery.
Fee: $105 (members $95)

UNDERSTANDING AMERICAN
PAINTINGS, 1670s–1850s
53920 Five Wednesdays, 11 am–12:30 pm,
January 14–February 11 [taught by Susan Nurse]
This informative and engaging art history course covers
early American artists such as
Ammi Phillips, Rubens and
Raphael Peale, Gilbert Stuart,
and John Trumbull. We will
consider how these artists
approached painting people,
America’s revolutionary
heroes and battles, the formation of a new nation,
and the ever-expanding landscape.
The class will include in-Gallery discussion and classroom lectures with thorough bibliographies. Great
for anyone curious about American art, history and
culture in the colonial and new nation eras.
Fee: $133 (members $120)
