Registration
1. Which is the website for Manipal University B Tech online common counseling?
Answer: https://counseling.manipal.edu
2. What are the Eligibility criteria to participate in Manipal University B Tech online
common counseling – 2015?
Answer: Please refer section 1.2 of Information Brochure.
3. My Board examination result is announced; unfortunately I have failed
/compartment in one or more subjects. However, I am sure of clearing these
subjects in the supplementary examination which will be held in the month of
June/July 2015. Can I participate in the counseling?
Answer: If you have failed in one or more subjects in the board examination, then
you are not eligible for counseling. However, if your supplementary result is
announced before the spot round, then you will be permitted to participate in the
spot round, provided you fulfil the eligibility criteria.
4. I have forgotten my user ID and password; how can I retrieve it?
Answer: Click on “forgot password”; you will receive the password through your
registered e-mail ID and sms. Your application number will be the user ID.
5. Can I correct the error in the registration form such as name/date of
birth/application no.?

6. I am facing some problems while making online payment for registration. Whom
shall I contact?

7. Can I change the choices after locking?
Answer: No. After locking, one can’t change the choices and preferential order.
8. Can I make the registration fee payment through demand draft?
Answer: We recommend the candidates to make the registration fee payment
through net banking/credit card/debit card. However, if one wishes to make the
payment through DD, he/she can come to one of the reporting centers and submit
the DD personally and complete the registration process.
9. Is it necessary to register in each round of counseling?
Answer: No. You will register for counseling only once. In the subsequent rounds of
counseling, if you wish, you can modify the choices and the order of preference.
First, Second, Third and Fourth round of counseling
1. Does the Manipal group of Institutions offer scholarship for meritorious and
economically backward students?
Answer: Yes. Refer, scholarship section in the website: https://counseling.manipal.edu
2. I have not participated in the first round. Am I eligible for subsequent rounds of
counseling?
Answer: Yes. You can register for any of the first four rounds and participate in the
subsequent rounds of counseling. If you have not registered in any of the first four
rounds, then you are not eligible for intra-institute sliding; however, you can
participate in the spot round.
3. Can I reject the seat offered and participate in the subsequent rounds of counseling?
Answer: No. If a seat is offered, you are required to accept the seat and complete
the admission formalities, in order to participate in the subsequent rounds of
counseling.
4. Can I retain the previously allotted seat and reject the upgraded one?
Answer: No. When the seat is upgraded, the previously allotted seat will be
automatically cancelled. Request for retaining the previously allotted seat will not be
entertained.
5. Is it possible to modify the choices in each round of counseling?
Answer: Yes. You can modify the choices in each round of counseling during the
registration period.
6. After the seat allotment, is it necessary to report to one of the reporting centers?
Answer: Yes. When the seat is allotted for the first time, each candidate has to
report to one of the reporting centers to complete the admission formalities. No
need to report to the centers for the subsequent allotment of seats.
7. After the document verification, can I get back my originals?
Answer: Yes. After the document verification, you can collect the originals. However,
while joining the Institute, you have to submit all the originals listed in Table 2 of the
Information Brochure.
8. I haven’t got the seat so far, can I opt-out from the counseling?
Answer: Yes. Candidates can opt out from counseling at any stage. To opt out, login
to candidates’ portal and click on “opt out” button. Once you opt out from the
counseling, you are not eligible for subsequent rounds except the spot round.
9. I have taken the seat, but now I want to withdraw, what is the procedure?
Answer: Login to candidates’ portal and click on “withdrawal” button. Fill up the
withdrawal form and submit. After withdrawing, you will not be eligible for the
remaining rounds of counseling except the spot round.
10. Is it required to report to the reporting centre if the seat is upgraded?
Answer: No. If the seat is upgraded, there is no need to report to the center. The
provisional admission order can be downloaded from the candidates’ portal.
Intra-Institute Sliding
1. Can I shift the Institute in the Intra-Institute sliding?
Answer: No. In intra-institute sliding, up gradation is possible within the institute
only. Shifting from one campus to another is not permitted.
2. I have got the admission in one of the streams, but I have not joined the institute
(i.e., not yet started attending the classes), am I eligible for Intra-Institute sliding?
Answer: No. The candidates who have joined the institute and started attending the
classes are only eligible for intra-institute sliding. Please note that the candidate’s
physical presence is required for intra-institute sliding.
3. Can I modify my choices in the intra-Institute sliding?
Answer: Yes.
Spot Round
1. What is the mode of payment for spot round?
Answer: For spot round, candidates have to make the payment through Demand
Draft only. No other mode of payment will be accepted. Candidates have to submit
the DD before participating in the spot round.
2. What is the implication of rejecting the seat offered in spot round?
Answer: If the seat is allotted in the spot round, the candidates have to accept the
seat and the join the institute. If the candidate rejects the seat, then the fee paid for
spot round will not be refunded.
3. Is it required to be present physically for the spot round?
Answer: Yes. Physical presence of the candidate is required for the spot round.
