The Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre is a not-for-profit science
centre which features a world class trilobite site and collection, Geological,
Biological and Human History of the Manuels River and Conception Bay South.
The Centre is operated by the Manuels River Natural Heritage Society Inc.,
an organization committed to the preservation and interpretation of the natural,
cultural and geological history of the river through the development of education,
recreation and conservation opportunities along the river system and in the Interpretation Centre. If

Position: Event Manager
Employment Status: 1 Full-time position available
Hours of Work: Full time hours

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Event Manager is responsible for the promotion, planning and
implementation of client and in-house events at the MRHIC. The Event Coordinator develops positive
relationships with clients, prospective clients and third-party providers and ensures quality service and an
enjoyable, safe, functional environment for each event.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Act as the main point of contact with prospective and current clients for planning and conducting events.
This includes management of the client rental agreement, arranging viewings and planning meetings with
clients, and ensuring venues are properly set-up and staffed for each event.
• Work with the Centre Manager, other staff and the Board of Directors to develop and promote in-house
events to further the aims of the Centre and organization.
• Oversee the setup, manage the duration of, and take down of events.
• Hire, schedule and supervise event staff.
• Coordinate supplies and services for each event such as catering, entertainment, and audio visual
requests.
• Ensure event space is clean and functional and maintain a safe environment for all visitors and staff.
• Ensure event activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and comply with
all relevant legislation and professional standards.
• Oversee operations of the bar, including sales & inventory management
• Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
• Strong communication and organizational capabilities.
• Experience in event planning & management required
• A strong reputation for attention to detail and a commitment to first-class service and quality.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Outgoing, polite, friendly and patient.
• Experience working with computers and moderate understanding of Microsoft Office software.
• Able to multi-task and work efficiently in a high energy environment.
• Post-Secondary education in a related field would be considered an asset.
