The Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes Training Programme has
developed from grass roots work with care home staff, adapted from GSF
in Primary Care specifically for this care. The programme, originally for nursing
homes, now includes residential care homes, learning disabilities, young physically
disabled and those providing dementia care.

“The fact that there is now a Gold Standard for palliative care means not only that everyone now knows what
can be achieved, but that patients and families are beginning to know what they should be asking for - and
expecting!”
