It is time when the parents become teachers and friends. Vacations help to rejuvenate your child and develop an everlasting bond between you and your child by devoting your precious time towards him/her. Allow us to facilitate you to help your child explore his / her environment. Make optimum use of this time to cultivate your child’s interest in co-curricular activities. As the school closes for the summer break w.e.f May 18, 2015, we have planned some activities, worksheets and projects for your child to enhance his / her learning skills in a fun filled way. To encourage your child’s self esteem and feeling of competence, help your child discover his / her hidden talents and interests. Keeping the same objective in mind we have divided the homework into four different categories. 1. The first category includes Skill based Activities which can be helpful for the little ones in improving their fine motor skills and concentration skills. 2. The second category comprises of Fun-Activities which can be done with your children at home so that you have the opportunity to spend some quality time with them which can be informative and interesting at the same time. 3. The third is making interesting project work- Experiential Learning. 4. The last and the most interesting is Logic behind the scene where in kids will explore and learn through small and handy experiments. Kindly help and guide your child in completing his / HER work and also exploring his / HER creative self. COOL CHEF OF MAPS To make father’s day special that is on 21st June for papa, this summer encourage your ward to help you in the kitchen and be a cool chef of MAPS by making a dish for papa on the occasion of FATHER’S DAY. During preparation of that dish make a video clip and mail that video to your class teacher. Follow the given instructions for the recipe. Moong Dal/Hesaru bele Masala Moong Dal/Hesaru bele Masala is one of the quick recipes which you can do in 10 - 15 minutes. Kids enjoy this snack. Moong Dal Namkeen is available in all retail stores. Add masala to this namkeen and make it tasty. Ingredients: Moong Dal Namkeen - 1 cup Onion - 1 Finely chopped Grated Carrot -1 Salt to taste Chilly powder 1/2 tbsp Coriander leaves - finely chopped Lemon - 1/2 tbsp Procedure: 1. Mix moong dal namkeen, onion and carrot. Moon Dal Namkeen is salted. So add salt if required. Add chilly powder, coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix all these. Your tasty Moong Dal/Hesaru bele masala is ready. NOTE : While preparing the dish, don’t touch your eyes. Q4. Teach them the importance of transport. MY EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING 1. From the given story book introduce the story with pictures to your child and discuss the things seen in the pictures. Make your ward learn how to open the book, how to turn the page. Ask your child to recall some characters and incidents of the story by asking simple questions related to the story :Who is the main character? What have you learnt? Which character you like the most? What happened in the previous page? Which incident you like the most? Help your ward in preparing a Stick puppet of their favorite character from the story and kids will discuss the story and speak few lines on character with the help of puppets on 06.07.15. 2. TIME TO GO TO BED… LET’S RACE Your little ones love challenges and you can use that to your advantage at bedtime. Set a timer for 15 minutes as a signal for your child to rush to the bedroom, change clothes, brush his/her teeth and hop into bed. Your child wins if the timer has not gone off.(Be careful that child does not hurt himself or herself during the rush.) This fun loving activity will be an encouragement for children to learn how to do their work in a specified time. 3. SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN (एक कदम वछता क ओर) Kiddos will continue to throw stuff on streets, public places. Just like we live in clean homes and classrooms, cant we extrapolate this thinking to whole city? After all, it’s ours …..isn’t it? Encourage your ward to take initiative to make his/her surroundings clean with the help of peer group. While playing or going out with peer group following points should be kept in mind: Should not pluck flowers and leaves. Should not litter on the ground. Should always use dustbin. Plan a visit to any nearby park or playground with peer group on any Sunday and make it clean. Click the photograph while doing this activity and bring the same in a presentable manner. 4. PIGGY BANK MAKING To make your child understand the importance of money, help him/ her to create a piggy bank. Tell them to put Rs. 2 or Rs 5 on daily basis. Donate that amount for Nepal Relief fund at the end of vacations and get the empty piggy bank to school. We have given two options of piggy bank, opt your favourite one. Homemade Frog Bank In this fun hands-on activity, children make piggy banks. Cover an old shoe box or cereal box with green construction paper. Cut a small slit in the front to put your money in. Draw around the slit to make it part of the frog's mouth. Cut two cups from an egg carton, paint them green, add googly eyes, and glue them to the box for the frog's eyes. Finally, use green construction paper to cut front and hind legs. Attach the hind legs to the sides of the box, and add the front legs to the front of the box under the mouth. Use craft knife to cut a 1 1/2" x 1/8" wide slot (for inserting coins) in bottle, about midway between top and bottom. Use scissors to cut a strip of orange paper long enough to wrap around bottle and same width as bottle label. Wrap paper around bottle and use a pencil to trace over slot in bottle. Unwrap paper and cut slot with craft knife. Use scissors to cut out ear and inner-ear templates. Place ear template on orange paper and trace around. Repeat for other ear. Cut out. Place inner-ear template on blue paper and trace around. Repeat. Cut out. Fold ears at tab. Position ears along edge of paper band, about 1" to each side of slot. Tape tabs to back of paper band. Wrap band with ears around bottle, aligning slots on bottle and paper. Overlap ends of band and tape seam. Trace around bottle cap on orange paper.Cut out and glue to cap. Use hole punch to make 2 blue circles. Glue to bottle cap. For eyes, use hole punch to make 2 circles of either color. Glue them to bottle. HOT AIR BALLOON – Hot air balloon is a great science activity to teach kids about warm & cool air. Kids will learn how and why air expands when it is heated up. WHAT YOU NEED 1. An empty bottle 2. A deflated balloon 3. Cold water 4. Hot water PROCEDURE 1. Take the empty bottle & stretch the balloon over the mouth of the bottle. 2. Take cold water in a pan. Place the bottle in the pan. Observe it for 2 minutes. What happens to the balloon???? After 2 minutes , repeat the same procedure with hot water. Now compare the observation of a balloon when bottle was kept in cold water and when it is kept in hot water. Tick ( ) your observation after experiment in cold water.
