District Profile
Located in Emmet County in northern Michigan, Alanson
Public Schools is a K-12 district with 265 students located
in one building with a wing that houses grades K-6, and a
secondary wing for grades 7-12.
Recent updates to the building and grounds are a source of
pride for our students, staff and community. These
improvements were funded by the community’s continued
support of bond issues and the trust between the community and school personnel. In addition to the updated
science lab, gym and bus garage, the school purchased
Chromebooks and iPads so every student has a device to
access learning through the school’s Wi-Fi. Students, staff,
and the administration are connected to the world for
learning and excited for the opportunities this can present
for our students and community.
Alanson Public Schools is located in the village of Alanson,
nestled on the bank of the Crooked River, a major link in
Michigan’s Inland Waterway. Conveniently located 10
miles north of Petoskey, Alanson’s downtown area is
contained in several short blocks that place many shops
and services within easy walking distance. Restaurants, a
first class hotel, and a hardware store that is a historical
landmark are just a few of the businesses located downtown.
For tranquility, walk the boardwalk along
the river, enjoy the fresh breeze off the
water, or sit among the fragrant flowers
on the Hillside Gardens. Alanson is
"a place to enjoy…a place to remember.”
