Important MCAS Information
In response to the recent snowstorms and the unprecedented number of school closures, and to allow schools more
instructional time prior to assessments, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is
providing schools with alternate testing dates. Masconomet MS has chosen to test on the alternate dates and the new
dates are as follows:
Grade 7
ELA Long Composition
Make Up ELA Long Comp.
Thursday, April 2
Wednesday, April 8
Grade 7 & 8:
Reading Comprehension, Session 1 Monday, April 6
Reading Comprehension, Session 2 Tuesday, April 7
Grade 7 & 8:
Mathematics, Session 1
Mathematics, Session 2
Thursday, May 14
Friday, May 15
Grade 8:
Science, Technology
& Engineering, Session 1
Science, Technology
& Engineering, Session 2
Tuesday, May 19
Wednesday, May 20
It is important that you get your child to school on time on all testing dates but obviously, if your child is sick and has a
fever it is recommended that they stay home. Please be aware that make-up dates for each testing session will be very
limited this year due to this revised schedule.
The Cookie Dough
Is Coming
We need several volunteers from 11-2:30 to help distribute the cookie orders. If you can volunteer and help us please
should contact dsilva@masconomet.org.
The Cookie Dough will be delivered on Monday, March 30th. Volunteers will be set up in front of the auditorium for pick
up. If your child has more than 4 orders someone will need to come in and pick up their orders or provide them a ride
home. A representative will be at the school until 3:00 p.m. If you cannot pick up the order by 3:00 p.m. please mail
Deb Silva in the main office at dsilva@masconomet.org so that other arrangements can be made for pick up or delivery.

PAC
The Masconomet PAC is already making plans for the 2015-2016 school year and we are looking to fill two openings on
our Executive Board:
President-Elect
The President manages PAC-sponsored events for the Middle School and High School with the help of the Executive
Board and a group of volunteers. The President is the liaison between the PAC and the administrative staff at
Masco. Michele Mathers will be leaving her post as President when her youngest child graduates in 2016. The
President-Elect will work closely with Michele during the 2015-2016 school year to ensure a smooth transition.
Communications
The Communications role is responsible for preparing, editing, and sending out information about PAC and its events
with the goal of keeping members apprised of the important work that PAC is doing and how they can get
involved. Communication is done via email, social media, and the PAC web site.
For general information about the Masco PAC, please visit our web site at www.mascopac.org. For more details about
these two openings, please contact Michele Mathers at michele.mathers@comcast.net. We look forward to hearing
from you!

INTERNATIONAL DINNER
A great night was had by all that attended the International Dinner last Tuesday evening. The food was great and the
music provided by the high school students was fabulous. A big thank you to Nancy Mirra, foreign language department
head, and the foreign language staff for a wonderful night. Also, a big thank you to Randy O’Keefe, music department
head for the beautiful performances that showcased our talented students. The middle school students worked hard to
serve and provided all the desserts from a delicious cookie competition.
