Periods 5-7– Now seniors can take their assessment testing here instead of driving to MJC! You must have a submitted application and a w number to attend.
College Awareness Night-February 19, Riverbank High School, 6:00-8:15 Open to all MCS students grades 9-11
and their parents are invited to attend this presentation. Representatives from UC Merced, CSU Stanislaus and
MJC will be highlighting their campuses. Topics will include; college eligibility, financial aid, and SAT/ACT testing
information.

*Congratulations to our Girls and Boys State delegates. They were interviewed by the American Legion this
month and one boy and one girl were chosen to represent Enochs at Girls/Boys State. Girls delegate is Jordan Tam and Boys delegate is Connor Cogdill. Enochs is proud of the accomplishments of our students!

Impor tant Infor mation if you applied to a CSU!
If you are planning on attending any CSU campus you must take the English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry
Level Math (ELM) test before you register for classes UNLESS you qualify for one of the following exemptions:
1.You scored exempt from the EAP test (extra portion of the STAR test you took as a junior).
2. Scored a 3 or above on the AP Language and Composition or the Literature and Composition examinations
for the EPT. For the ELM, scored a 3 or above on the Calculus AB or BC or Statistics exam.
3. For the EPT, scored a 500 on SAT Verbal or 22 on ACT English. For the ELM, scored a 550 on SAT
Math or 23 on ACT Math. You can test at CSU, Stanislaus even if you are planning to attend another CSU campus. You can’t register for classes without testing! Some schools require testing by

Awards Night May 20.
New Scholarships
Anthony Brucia Success Scholarship-7 $500 scholarships awarded to students who have made a turnaround in their lives. Looking for students who have overcome personal or family problems. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Must be postmarked by March 30, 2015.
Jon Walther Memorial Teaching Scholarship– $1000 scholarship for a senior graduating from a Modesto City
Schools comprehensive high school whose goal is to become a teacher. Can attend any college or university including
a junior college, but must be enrolled in a full-time program that leads to a teaching degree. Deadline to apply is
April 1. Pick up application in Career Center.
MTA Cecil Curfman Memorial Scholarship– Six $1000 scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior who is
a son or daughter of an individual who is a member of the California Teachers Association. Can attend any college or
university, including a junior college, in any field of study of his or her choosing. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.

New Scholarships
Daniel J Gonsalves Scholarship- $500 to one male and one female athlete who has played a varsity sport
their senior year and has at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications due March 31. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.
Stanislaus Medical Society Alliance– For students interested in a career in medicine or nursing. See Mrs.
Brogan for an application. Applications must be received by March 31.
Stanislaus Community Foundation Scholarships-Must be resident of Stanislaus County attending any accredited university or college and maintain a 3.0 GPA or above during senior year and the year the scholarship is made available. Several scholarships available for $500. Deadline for all the following scholarships
is February 27, 2015. You must complete the scholarship application online at www.stanislauscf.org.
Modesto Symphony Guild Music Scholarship-$2500 scholarship to an instrumentalist who currently participates in their high school music program and plans to major or minor in music. Must have a 3.5 GPA.

Modesto Sunrise Rotary -Scholarships available ranging from $500-$1000 each. Scholarships are awarded
based on academic performance and community service. Application deadline is April 3, 2015. See Mrs.

Friends of Modesto Police Youth– Five $500 scholarships available to graduating seniors who plan on attending MJC or Columbia. Open to all fields of study. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Application
deadline is April 3, 2015.

Enochs Athletic Booster Scholarship– $500 scholarship to one male and female athlete from Enochs. Must have
completed one full season of a sport. Parent or Guardian must be an Enochs Athletic Booster Member. Deadline to

Womens Auxiliary Scholarship-This is an African-American Womens group that awards scholarships to male and
female students attending 2 year or 4 year colleges. Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Deadline to apply is March

John B. Allard Scholarship-Two $300 scholarships will be awarded to a senior who plans a career in education.
Deadline to apply is March 25. See Mrs. Brogan for application.
Bill and Bertha Scheuber Scholarship-$500 scholarship awarded to a senior planning to further his/her education
in agriculture or a vocational field. Deadline to apply is March 25. See Mrs. Brogan for application.
John and Julie Thurman Scholarship-$300 scholarship awarded to a senior who plans to continue his/her education in agriculture. Deadline to apply is March 25. See Mrs. Brogan for application.
CSEA Modesto Chapter 007 Scholarship-If you have a parent who is a member of CSEA there are scholarships
available. Must have a 3.0 GPA. Deadline to apply is March 31. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.
Caltrans Stockton Scholarship– $1000 scholarship offered to a senior who holds a 2.6 GPA or better and would
like a transportation related career including; engineering, communications, accounting, landscaping, business, construction, law, and information technology. Deadline to apply is February 28. Come to the Career Center to apply.
Eleanor C. Scott Scholarship-$500 scholarship for a physically handicapped senior. Conditions include but are not
limited to cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, and juvenile arthritis. Deadline to
apply is March 27. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.
Deck Hogin Music Scholarship-$500 scholarship awarded to one student voted to be the most deserving
in Enochs instrumental band. Applicants must be serious music students planning to continue their music
education at the college level with emphasis on becoming an educator or performer. See Mrs. Brogan for
an application. Deadline to apply is April 3, 2015.

New Scholarships Continued
Enochs Eagle Foundation Scholarship-– COMING SOON! Three $1000 scholarships will be given to Enochs seniors who have attended Enochs all 4 years and have a minimum 2.8 GPA. Deadline to apply is April 13. Go to
Enochs website to print application.
Portuguese Education Foundation of Central California Scholarship– Scholarships awarded to students of Portuguese descent who have shown interest in Portuguese culture by either studying the language or participation in organized Portuguese activities. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Must be postmarked by March 14, 2015.
Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California-$500 scholarships will be awarded to students who are of Portuguese descent,
have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA and participated in a minimum of 3 extracurricular activities while in high school.

American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship– Open to seniors who are children of veterans and who are seeking financial assistance for their first year in college. Visit http://calegionaux.org/scholarships.htm for all scholarships offered.
Valley Builders Exchange Scholarship-Available to students who have a parent who is a member or an employee of
Valley Builders Exchange. Recipients major must be in a field related to construction. Go to
http://www.valleybx.com to apply. Deadline to apply is April 2.
Youth on Course Scholarships-More than $125,000 is available to students. Must have a 3.0. You do not have to be
a member of YOC or play golf but if you are you will be given priority. Must be attending a 4 year college in the fall.
Go to www.youthoncourse.org and click on scholarships to apply. Deadline to apply is April 1.
Trenza Scholarships-Available to all Chicana/Latina seniors. Visit www.trenzascholarships.webs.com to apply. Applications due March 27.
Deck Hogin Music Scholarship-$500 scholarship given to the most deserving musician involved in Enochs High
School’s instrumental band. Deadline to apply is April 18. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.
Teddie Hartman Scholarship-Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and want to pursue a career in the medical profession.
Come to the Career Center for an application. Deadline to apply is March 31.
Parent Institute for Quality Education-Applicants must be a graduating senior with a 2.5 GPA and have a parent
who graduated from the PIQE program. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is March 6.

Repea ted Scholarships
John L Hollis Scholarship– Students must be seniors in high school preparing for a career in public service (teaching,
law enforcement, fire safety, nursing, public administration, political science, etc.), have a 3.0 minimum GPA , participation in church and community service. Application available in the Career Center. Scholarships are for $500. Deadline to apply is March 15.
Central Valley Opportunity Center– 5 $1000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are from a farm worker
or low-income family. Must be planning to pursue education at a vocational, community college, or university. See
Mrs. Brogan for an application. Applications must be received by April 3.
Ricky Miranda Memorial Scholarship– Ricky was a 2010 graduate and varsity wrestler at Enochs. He overcame
extreme adversity and received a full scholarship to attend college. Unfortunately, Ricky’s struggles were too much
for him to bear and he passed away March 19, 2011. A $500 scholarship has been provided by the wrestling program
to a student planning on attending a 2 year or 4 year college. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply
is March 26, 2015.
SOS Club/Tom Mellis Scholarship-$2500 scholarship will be given to a high school senior who has good grades and
participates in varsity sports. Attach a letter/resume that fully describes your activities and achievements. Deadline to
apply is February 27. See Mrs. Brogan for an application.
North Modesto Kiwanis– Multiple scholarships ranging from $500-$1000 to middle income students planning on
attending a 2 year or 4 year college in California. Please see Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is
February 20.
Tzu Chi Scholars-$1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student with financial need, academic achievement, and
community involvement. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Please see Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to
apply is March 2.
Sons of Italy Scholarships-There are 3 scholarships in which a student can apply; Academic Awards, Athletic Scholarship, Italian Language Study Grants in Italy for summer 2012. Applicant must be wholly or partially of Italian descent, enroll in college in fall 2012 and if applying for the athletic scholarship must be pursuing a career in sports or
sports related profession. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is February 28..

PG&E Resource Group-Over $25,000 awarded to 100 students each year. To apply for a PG&E scholarship, students
need to complete the basic scholarship application. http://www.pge.com/about/community/scholarships. Deadline to
apply is February 9.
National Defense Transportation Association-The NDTA is looking for students who want to attend a 2 year or 4
year college. A variety of majors will be considered for this scholarship. Please see Mrs. Brogan for more information.
Deadline to apply is March 14.
Modesto Garden Club- Six $1500 scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the MJC agriculture program or
accepted into an agriculture or horticulture program at a 4-year college or university.

Mancini Music Scholarship- Numerous $600 scholarships available to students who are musicians, attending college
in California, “intent” on pursuing studies in music education and pursue a career in teaching. Majoring or minoring in
music is not required. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is February 28.
Dr. Pezoldt Scholarship-$500 scholarship for an Enochs student who is planning on pursuing a science or health field
major. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is March 2.
Glenn Davis Basketball and Track Scholarship-3 $1000 scholarships available to Enochs students who have participated in either boys/girls basketball or track and one other sport. Must have a 2.5 GPA and plan on attending a 2 year or
4 year college. See Mrs. Brogan for an application. Deadline to apply is March 15.
North Modesto Kiwanis Scholarship-15 $1000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who have a 2.75 GPA, plan to
attend a 2 or 4 year college in California. Preference is given to students whose annual family income is $75,000$150,000. See Mrs. Brogan for an applications. Deadline to apply is February 20.
Matters of Life and Death Writing Contest-$250-$1000 scholarships available to high school juniors and seniors.
Must answer the question “Why should a mentally competent, terminally ill, adult family member have the right to

Reminders!
Please check you college portals to see if you have anything in your “To Do List”. Make sure you sent your
SAT/ACT scores to the schools you applied. Some schools may request a copy of your transcript with 7th semester
grades.
The College Wall will be up soon in the Career Center. Please make sure you notify Mrs. Brogan of all your college
acceptances and if you are receiving any scholarships.
