Scholarships
*Please know that the scholarships listed below represent those that have been
sent directly to the guidance department.

The Joseph Kimutis Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a South Fayette
graduating senior and is worth $1,000. The scholarship will be given to a student who has
demonstrated strong character through acts of kindness and compassion to elevate the human
spirit of fellow students and the community. A minimum GPA of 2.0 and a 500 word essay are
required. The deadline is April 15, 2015. Please stop in the guidance office for the application
and additional details.
The South Fayette Township Police Association Scholarship: A $500.00 scholarship is being
offered to a South Fayette senior interested in attending college to study criminal justice.
Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline is April 8, 2015.
The Nathan Ostrowski Memorial Scholarship: One scholarship award will be granted in the
amount of $4,000 to a member of the class of 2015. Two additional scholarships, usually in the
amounts of $1,000 and $750.00 will be awarded based on application submitted, but will not be
restricted to scholar-athletes. Criteria used to select the $4,000 award recipient include
scholarship, participation in school and community activities, character, and written expression.
The recipient must be a South Fayette student with a QPA of at least 2.75. The recipient shall
establish a financial need for the assistance. Interested students should stop in the guidance
office for the application. The deadline is April 7, 2015.
The Bridgeville-South Fayette Rotary Club Scholarship: Two seniors will be selected by the
Rotarians to be honored with a scholarship and luncheon. The selection committee will look at
community service and academic success. The scholarship application is available at:

2015.
The Association of Desk and Derrick Club Scholarship: This international nonprofit organization
is offering three scholarships to students furthering their education in a college or
trade/technical school. The scholarship is for students who are most interested in industryrelated fields. An essay is required. For more information, go to

PTA Scholarship: A PTA Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 is being offered to seniors who
plan to further their education and have a strong record of community service/volunteerism.
Applications are available on the state PTA website: www.papta.org/scholarship. The deadline

Malcolm M Prine/WPFOA Scholarship: The West Penn Football Officials Association is offering
three scholarships to varsity high school football players. Criteria are need-based and the
deadline is May 1, 2015. Applications are available in the guidance office.
Pennsylvania Land Surveyors Scholarship: This scholarship is for students who are interested in
pursuing a certificate in the field of surveying through a two or four year accredited program.
Information is available at: www.psls.org/scholarship. The deadline for submission is April 15,
2015.
American Association of Drilling Engineers Scholarship: The AADE is offering twenty $1,000
scholarships to seniors pursuing engineering or a related field. Applicants must has a QPA of 3.5
or above, a minimum score of 600 in Math and Critical Reading on the SAT or a score of 27 on
the ACT. Students must be attending a post-secondary institution in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or
West Virginia. Applications are available at: http://www.aade.org/chapters/appalachian-basin/.
The deadline is April 30, 2015.
Freddie Fu Sports Medicine Scholarship: This scholarship is for seniors intending to major in
sports medicine. Students must provide two letters of recommendation along with a completed
guidance counselor form. Applications are available at: www.upmc.com/sportsmedicine. The
deadline is April 25, 2015.
Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is open to high school seniors who
demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and will enroll in a college or
university after graduation. The scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000. Applications are
available at: www.us.tzuchi.org. The deadline is May 15, 2015.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program: This is the 8th year of the scholarship program. Up tp
$1,000 will be awarded to the winner(s) each year. Students are required to submit an essay on
the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the following website:
http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. More details about the scholarship
program are available on the website. The deadline is June 15, 2015.
Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship: There are two $1,000
scholarships being offered to high school seniors who are planning on attending a postinstitution. The deadline is April 10, 2015. Interested students should stop in the guidance
office for an application.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship: There are two scholarships being
awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend a post-secondary institution and have
earned a minimum QPA of a 3.0. Other considerations include financial need and dedication to
community activities. Applications are available at www.tfec.org.
National Federation of the Blind Scholarship: This scholarship is available to any senior who is
planning on attending a post-secondary institution and is visually impaired. Applications are
available at www.nfb.org/scholarships. The deadline is March 31, 2015.
The Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship: This scholarship is for seniors planning to pursue a postsecondary education and who are of Italian heritage. The scholarship amount is $4,000 per year
and renewable upon obtaining and maintaining a 3.0 QPA. Please be aware that only certain
universities participate in this award. Applications are available at www.pitalsf.org and the
password to access the application is p0614Isf. The deadline is April 3, 2015.
The Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship Program for the Theatre Arts: Students planning to
major in theatre arts and demonstrate financial need, scholastic merit and community service
may be eligible for a $4,000 scholarship. The applications are available in the guidance office.
The deadline is April 17, 2015.
The Clearview Federal Credit Union Scholarship: Ten scholarships in the amount of $1,000
each will be awarded to students planning to attend a post-secondary institution. Applicants
will be considered based on their response to an essay. Applications are available in the
guidance office. The deadline is March 31, 2015.
The Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Director Scholarship: This scholarship is available for
students who are planning on attending a post-secondary institution and major in a food
service related field. Students must have at least a 3.0 QPA to apply. An essay is required.
Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline is April 30, 2015.
Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship: This scholarship is for high school seniors who are
attending a post-secondary institution to study an environmentally related field. Scholarship
applications are available on the Audubon Society website: www.aswp.org. The deadline is
April 30, 2015.
Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is for any senior
who resides in Allegheny County, has a QPA of 3.25 or higher and has a significant academic
record of achievement. Additionally, he/she demonstrates financial need and is interested in
history, architecture, or landscape. The application can be downloaded from their website,
which is www.phlf.org. Click on “education” then “landmark scholarship”. The deadline is April
22, 2015.
Court Time Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to seniors planning on
attending a post-secondary institution, have a QPA of 3.0 or higher and who have participated
in at least one court time sports center activity. An essay is required for scholarship
consideration. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline is March 31,
2015.
Gannon University Scholarships: Through funds from the National Science Foundation, Gannon
University awards approximately 20 scholarships per year, each renewable for up to four years.
Each recipient can be awarded up to $8,000 a year, depending on the awardee’s unmet
financial needs and available funds. If interested in applying for these scholarships, please stop
by the guidance office for additional information.
Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to
students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary
school or college. Interested students should visit: http://www.fashion-schools.org/. The

Aspiring Animation Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded
to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited postsecondary school or college. Interested students should visit:
http://www.animationcareerreview.com/. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page.
The College Sports Recruiting Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to 1-5 winners in
the amount of $1,000 each. For more information please, contact Ken Lancaster at

Clarion University Merit Scholarship Program: Clarion University is offering merit-based
scholarships that are renewable over four years. The awards range from $4,000-$28,000. High
performing students are eligible to compete for these scholarships and must have a QPA of 3.25
and a 1050 SAT score (Critical Reading and Math) or a 23 on the ACT. For additional

Henry Melchoir Muhlenberg Scholarship: This is the largest scholarship offered by
Muhlenberg. It is worth $40,000 per year. The total value over four years is $160,000. It is
awarded on the basis of superb academic performance, extracurricular commitments, and
positive character and citizenship. Five of these scholarships will be awarded for the class
entering in the fall of 2015. Please stop in the guidance office for information on additional

National Achievement Scholarship Program: During the pre-admission of the PSATS/NMSQTS,
a specific demographic question pertaining to Black American high school students must be
completed for national scholarship opportunities. There are no separate applications and award
amounts will vary based on the specific scholarship host.
Oliver L. Johnson and William A. Lester Family’s fund: Students who demonstrate a financial
need, have a QPA of 2.5 or above, and plan to attend a college or a trade/technical school may
be eligible for a grant. An essay is required and pertains to factors that have contributed to
both successes and failures in life, and must reference an influential mentor or positive role
model. Upon acceptance to a post-secondary institution, students must provide a copy of the
student aid report (SAR) for both eligibility and scholarship awards. Potential applicants should
go to http://www.pittsburghfoundation.org/node/1680. A specific deadline has not been
determined as the student Aid reports are not available until the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) has been submitted and processed.
Irene S. and Harry Louik College Scholarship Fund: Students planning to attend a postsecondary school to study performing arts may be eligible for this scholarship. Students must
have a minimum of a 3.0 QPA, complete an essay, and show proof of financial aid. Interested
students should pick up an application in the guidance office. The scholarship deadline is May
15, 2015.
Louise Salinger Scholarship: This scholarship is for high school seniors in Allegheny County who
plan to pursue a career in fashion design at a college/university of an accredited
career/technical school. Students interested in applying should go to:

Schoolsoup.com is offering new $1,000 scholarships for college students in the United States.

William Wolf Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation: Students of the
Lutheran denomination residing in Allegheny County are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The award will not exceed $5,000 per year for four years. Renewal of the scholarship will be
contingent on maintaining a good grade point average. If you would like to apply for this
