The objective of this course is to review pertinent principles of endoscopic ultrasound and its application in the aerodigestive tract with a particular focus on staging of lung cancer. At the conclusion of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the basic principles of ultrasound as they apply to the esophagus and tracheobronchial tree. All procedural indications and cancer staging principles will be reviewed. Performance of endobronchial ultrasound with the radial probe and the dedicated endobronchial ultrasound scope for needle aspiration will be extensively practiced. Learning Objectives As a result of this educational activity, learners will be able to: • • • Perform the procedures and interpret known indications, contra indications, and complications Implement the infrastructure, including the room space and equipment Distinguish the different lymph node stations for cancer staging.
