Author Visit with Beverly Lewis
Bestselling author Beverly Lewis will be visiting the Mercer Area
Library to promote her latest book, Love letters. She will be
speaking about her book and holding a 30 minute question and
answer session. Afterward, she will be signing copies of her
new book that will be available to be purchased and to be autographed. We encourage you to call or to stop by the library to
reserve your spot!
Beverly Lewis is a widely-known author of many series including Home to Hickory Hollow, The Rose Trilogy, and The Heritage
of Lancaster County. For more information on Beverly Lewis,
her books, and her upcoming events, you can visit her website.

Mercer March Madness!
Come and vote for your favorite authors in Mercer March Madness! The library will be creating a bracket for your favorite authors, including J.K. Rowling, James Patterson, J. R. R. Tolkien
and others to face off against each other. Over the course of
four weeks, authors from mystery, drama/thriller, young adult,
and the classics will face off, and your vote will determine the
best of the best. The contest will separate the great from the
rest. Show your support and vote for your favorite this month
in the Mercer March Madness author bracket!
Usborne Book Fair: March 24-26
The Usborne Book Fair will be visiting the Mercer Area Library from March
24th through to the 26th from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Usborne is a highly
renowned children’s book publisher with titles for all age levels and genres.
Feel free to come and browse the collection of books for sale. Fifty percent
of all sales go to the library, so come and support us by purchasing some of
these award-winning titles!
Adult Drawing Lessons
Sheila Craig will once again be offering free Adult Drawing Lessons at
the library! The class will run for six weeks, starting on Saturday,
March 28th, at 1:30 P.M. in our conference room. Prospective students will only be required to supply the basic materials of pencils
and paper, and the class itself is free and open to the public. Students are also encouraged to bring their own art supplies if they have
them. Call and register now for an interesting and informational
class!
Tax Forms at the Library
Both state and federal tax forms will be available at the Mercer Area Library.
This year, the IRS is only sending the following forms: 1040, 1040 A, and
1040 EZ.. The IRS will not be sending any instruction booklets. Additional
tax forms and instructions can be obtained through www.irs.gov and state
forms can be found at the PA Department of Revenue website.
You can also place orders for forms and publications at
http://www.irs.gov/Forms-&-Pubs/Order-Products. You can order up to 10
different forms and publications . Just search for the form you need, add it
to your cart, and enter your shipping information. This is a free service provided by the IRS. If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask us!

Family Movie Night Presents
Big Hero 6: 3-20-2015
With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney
Animation Studios, BIG HERO 6 is an action-packed comedy adventure that introduces Baymax, a lovable, personal companion
robot, who forms a special bond with robotics prodigy Hiro
Hamada. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into
the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San
Fransokyo, Hiro turns to Baymax and his diverse group of friends
-- adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry
whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred -- who transform into a band
of unlikely heroes.
Join us on Friday, March 20 at 6:00 P.M. for this heartwarming
movie, free popcorn, and lots of fun!

Celebrate the First Day of Spring with a Green Thumb!
Celebrate Spring the old-fashioned way, by planting things! The library
will be hosting a plant growing contest for kids starting on the first day
of Spring. on Friday, March 20th, each child who visits the library will be
given a cup of soil and a bean seed. Watch that small seed change into
a thriving, growing plant! Make sure to keep your plant healthy with lots
of sunshine and water. When the plant starts to grow, make sure to
keep track of how big it gets. Bring your plant back on April 30th, and
whoever has grown the biggest plant will win our prize! Come Plant a
Seed for Spring at the library!
Protect Identity Theft with Pizza!: 3-21-2015
Come to our special identity theft program at 1:00 P.M. on
Saturday, March 21st & have pizza lunch on us!
Identity theft can take many forms. It is essential that you be
aware of the different methods your identity can be stolen so
that you can better prevent or decrease the likelihood of becoming a victim. Let Melissa Fritz from Citizen’s Bank teach
you how to protect yourself from identity theft. Learn how to
safeguard your information, deter identity thieves from stealing
your information, and how law enforcement can help you if you
are ever a victim of identity theft.

E-Reader Workshops: 3-10-15 and 3-18-15
Bring your Kindle, tablet, phone or other digital device to our monthly
e-reader workshops to learn how to access free e-books and audio
books from Overdrive. We now offer both evening and daytime sessions. This month the workshops will be held on Tuesday, March
10th, 6:00-7:00 and Wednesday, March 18th, 10:00-11:00. You
may also call to schedule an individual appointment.
Visit the used book sale cart!
The Friends of the Mercer Area Library will be selling gently used
books during normal operating hours at the used book sale book
cart. The cart will be located near the main doors of the library.
Hardcover and paperback books will be available featuring many
well-known and loved authors in various genres. Children’s and
young adult books will also be available for purchase. Prices will be
marked on each individual book, and payments for purchases must
be made at the front desk.
Toddler Block Party: 3-14-15
Come to the library on Saturday, March 14th at 10:00 to learn more
about the value of block play and to play with our new blocks, animals, people, and vehicles. Make new friends while discovering the
importance of creative play. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Mercer Area Library was asked to be part of a state-wide study correlating
building block play to development of toddler and preschooler language and
literacy skills, as well as cognitive and spatial skill development.
