MERIVALE EXPANDS INTO SYDNEY’S INNER WEST
WITH THE ACQUISITION OF
THE QUEEN VICTORIA HOTEL, ENMORE

Merivale’s hospitality portfolio continues to expand with the acquisition of the Queen Victoria
Hotel in Enmore.
Located a stone’s throw away from Newtown Station on Enmore Road, the Queen Victoria Hotel is
Merivale’s first venue in Sydney’s Inner West. It closely follows the group’s landmark purchase of
the iconic Newport Arms in Pittwater last month.
Merivale will officially take possession of the Queen Victoria Hotel in late April with the re-launch
scheduled for early June. The venue will have a strong food focus, with a kitchen spearheaded by
dynamic culinary duo, Christopher Hogarth and Patrick Friesen of Manly’s Papi Chulo. Bringing
extensive experience in several other Merivale venues including Mr. Wong, Ms.G’s and El Loco,
the formidable pair will create a sensational menu of Hong Kong inspired street food.

The Queen Victoria Hotel tops off what has been an exciting fourteen months of acquisitions for
Merivale. In February 2014, Merivale announced the purchase of the Paddington Arms on Oxford
Street, set to re-open in August. This was followed by 50 King Street in Sydney’s CBD, re-opened
as art-based pop-up Work in Progress in May, and the Beach Palace Hotel, transformed by
Merivale into the award-winning beachside venue, Coogee Pavilion. Since launching in July 2014,
the Coogee Pavilion has been embraced by Eastern Suburbs locals, celebrated as a vibrant
lifestyle destination that caters to a broad range of tastes, budgets and occasions.
Last month, Merivale announced that the iconic Newport Arms Hotel will join its burgeoning
hospitality portfolio in May 2015. Plans for the spectacular property will be announced in due
course.
Merivale will also evolve its existing portfolio of venues in 2015. The beloved Surry Hills local, The
Beresford Hotel, is set for fresh interiors and a stunning new menu by the talented Laif Etournaud
who recently took over the reins as Head Chef. Further details will be announced soon.
