8TH GRADE GRADUATION DANCE
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Eighth Grade Graduation Dance will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
June 9, 2015. This dance will follow the graduation ceremony and the reception.
Students attending this dance must have the permission slip below signed by a parent or
guardian and returned to the school office prior to graduation.
Each eighth grade student is allowed to invite one guest. Guests must be in 6th, 7th or 8th
grade (no high school age guests are allowed), and all invited guests must be approved by
the school administrator. HELUS eighth grade students not meeting the graduation
requirements may not attend as a guest. A guest pass is included in this packet. One guest
pass per person.
Transportation to and from the dance should be provided by a parent/guardian.

RULES and REGULATIONS for EIGHTH GRADE DANCES
THE FOLLOWING RULES WILL APPLY TO ALL DANCES HELD AT THIS SCHOOL OR
ANY SPONSORED ACTIVITY OF THIS SCHOOL:
1. Drinking of intoxicating beverages and use of drugs of any kind are not permitted by students
or adults.
2. Tobacco of any kind is not permitted anywhere on the school campus.
3. Use of foul language or inappropriate behavior will be cause for dismissal from the
dance.
4. Students will refrain from suggestive or provocative dancing.
5. Anyone who leaves the school grounds will not be permitted to return to the dance
unless prior permission is secured from a teacher on duty.
6. Students must remain at the dance and not loiter around campus.
7. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES OF ANY KIND ARE STUDENTS TO WALK HOME

DRESS CODE FOR GRADUATION - SEMI-FORMAL
(NO SHORTS, DENIM, or T-SHIRTS are to be worn by the graduates)

GIRLS:
Dress
No mini skirts (with hands down at sides–skirt is no higher than finger tips)
No low-cut necklines
No backless or strapless dresses. Spaghetti straps are fine as long as
undergarment does not show. No Clear straps allowed.
Shoes
Dress type – must have back strap, no higher than 2 inch heels.
Open-toed (peep-toe) may be worn as long as there is a strap on the heel.
If your shoes are uncomfortable, bring another pair for the dance. If you bring
another pair of shoes for the dance, they cannot be flip-flops or open toed
sandals.
Shoes must be worn at all times.
Sweater
Optional – it may be chilly in the evening
BOYS:
Pants
Dark or light, solid color. No denim or sagging/baggy pants.
Shirt
Long or short sleeves, with a collar
Tie
To match or compliment shirt – no sayings written on tie.

Royal blue graduation gowns will be provided by the district for use during graduation. These
gowns are not to be taken home. All gowns must be returned before the graduation dance begins.

Dear Parents,
Your son/daughter will be graduating from the eighth grade this year. We, as a middle
school, would like to create a Power Point presentation for the students to view at their
graduation dance.
This will be a farewell to the eighth grade as they look forward to new and exciting
adventures in high school. The presentation will feature pictures of the students when they
were infants, in elementary school, and as recent graduates. This will be a special way of
showing how life was during their younger years, and how special life will continue to be at
high school.
We will need to collect at least three pictures from each student to make the show complete.
These pictures can range from recent pictures to older ones. Pictures will be given back after
they have been scanned. Please be sure pictures have your child’s name and homeroom
teacher clearly marked on back of photo.
All pictures are to be sent to Mr. Nosik as soon as possible, and no later than May 27, 2015.

8th GRADE GRADUATION TRIP TO MAGIC MOUNTAIN
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We will have a “Special Grad Day” at Magic Mountain on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, for all
8th graders who have earned the privilege of participating in this trip. The PTA is paying for
each 8th grade students’ admission. Students will need to bring money for food and souvenirs.
Student dress should be same as for school. Short-shorts, bare midriffs, inappropriate slogans
on tee shirts, etc., will not be allowed. Please impress upon your child that we expect the very
best in discipline and good manners.

MAGIC MOUNTAIN PERMISSION SLIP
My son/daughter __________________________ has my permission to attend the Magic
Mountain “Special Grad Day” trip on Thursday, June 10, 2015. I understand that the students
will be under the authority of the bus driver (on the bus only) and school employees and
authorized chaperones during the entire trip. If your son or daughter is staying beyond the
HELUS departure time, you must complete the Student Release Form. Students will not be
allowed to stay beyond the HELUS departure time without a parent signed Student Release
Form. I further understand that any serious disciplinary problem involving my son/daughter may
result in my being asked to come and pick him/her up from Magic Mountain.
