The site visit will take place 28-29 May. The Arla site in Nr. Vium near Videbæk covers two individual but interconnected dairy plants with a common WWTP. At the Nr.Vium site the delegation will be given an introduction to the site and activities related to the BREF FDM. Nr.Vium Dairy is one of 26 production sites in Denmark. Nr.Vium Dairy produces yellow cheese which is sold in 40 different countries. There will be a visit to the cheese production with focus on the environmental impact from this production and how we work with optimizing the use of resources (milk, salt, water, energy). Afterwards there will be a visit at the Arla waste water treatment plant receiving waste water from 3 large Arla production plants. The WWTP has a daily treatment of 8000 m3 of waste water. You will hear about how the 3 plants work together with the WWTP to prevent waste water that can damage the biology in the WWTP. Tulip sites near Aalborg Tulip Food Company is a modern food processing company specialized in meat processing that exports to more than 80 countries worldwide. Tulip Food Company is a company in the Danish Crown Group which is a cooperative owned by 8200 Danish pig and cattle farmers. The two Tulip plants included in the site visit differ in production. The plant in Aalborg is characterized with production mix and seasonal variation, producing amongst others; panfried and deep fat fried meat balls, pizza toppings and ready meals, whereas the production plant in Svenstrup produces cooked sausages and fermented sausages like salamis in many varieties and therefore with different production processes. Relevant issues to observe and discuss, which affects the energy and water use: At Tulip, Aalborg; - Multiproduct facility - Batch sizes, seasonal variation and functional units - Old versus new production plants and installations - Small and large production capacity installations At Tulip, Svenstrup; - Functional units - Single product units DLG site in Tjele The DLG Group is one of the largest agricultural companies in Europe and is currently owned by 30,000 Danish farmers. The DLG Group is also one of Europe's biggest exporters of seed, feed and milling grain, malting barley and oilseed rape. In addition, via its associated companies, DLG is involved in activities such as the processing of crops and vegetables. The site in Tjele produces mainly pelleted compound feed for pigs and poultry. The delegation will be given an introduction of a typical Danish compound feed plant.
